Chapter 61: Dark castle

The castle stood out among the sea of lifeless black rock. It seemed like it was constructed in the Middle Ages, with four towers joined by walls in a square shape. Inside, Reeva guessed, was the main building. It stood taller than everything else, making it a visible landmark from afar. Reeva slowly approached the castle. As he walked, the scale of the castle grew, and it became evident that it was not intended for people. The entrance gate was so large that even a thousand Reevas could easily fit inside. Reeva marveled at the huge structure; he couldn't help it. There was a sense of awe when seeing such a gigantic building. However, that feeling didn't last long. He realized that there was still no life around. If he wanted to get inside, he would have to find another way. Looking at the gate, he knew he couldn't possibly open it since it was so big. He then turned his gaze to a nearby wall. That looked climbable. The castle's large "bricks" had many places to grab onto. His body never ran out of stamina here, so it wouldn't hurt to try climbing the wall. His palm hooked onto the dark castle wall, and he began ascending. He didn't get far before his hand slipped, and he collapsed. He yelped when he hit the ground, but the anticipated pain never came. He was perplexed, but he soon stood up and shrugged it off. This place had always made no sense, so why should it now? He instantly got up and tried climbing the wall again. He was never a climber, just an office worker with a hobby of reading web novels. However, he had infinite time here, right? If you lack something, you just need to learn it. With that mindset, he started climbing the wall. Over and over again, he fell. He lost count after his 30th attempt, but he could feel that it was much more than 30. The wall wasn't that hard to climb. After his 20th attempt, he got the hang of it, but the tricky part was figuring out where to go. Some of the bricks on the wall were just unclimbable, so he had to find a new route, which required him to start over or switch to another brick. However, after some time, he eventually reached the summit. Looking over the wall, Reeva was hit with another wonderful scene. The castle was truly gigantic; seeing it up close made him feel like a speck of dust in this vast place. It felt impossible to travel anywhere. However, he had a goal in mind. He wanted to see the top of the castle, the one that stood taller than anything else. It called to him, just like the dark gap had before. If he traveled there, maybe he could exit this place. He dropped down the wall and climbed up the other side. At this point, he was able to see the castle building below. The main castle had many buildings alongside the tall one. He looked straight down and smiled. He always wanted to try this once. He had always had a strong desire to jump from a high place when looking down, but never did because he was content with his life. Yet, he could fulfill that wish right now. He extended his arms on both sides and let his body drop down. He had fallen many times before while climbing the walls, but it felt different when he did it intentionally. His body traveled at high speed, heading toward the ground. He hit the ground with no sound, as usual; it seemed like this place didn't even acknowledge his existence. No matter what he did, he couldn't interact with anything here. It felt like he wasn't supposed to be here. However, that feeling was repressed by the thrill of the jump. It felt good. A bit of yellow mist seeped through his body. Tremble The ground beneath Reeva shook. He felt a sense of danger permeating the air. A figure rose up from the ground, shifting a whole mountain of dirt as it came alive. Reeva felt every hair on his body stand on end; he couldn't possibly face that monster. A mountain-sized skeleton, wearing some kind of dark cloth, had appeared. Run That was the only thought in his mind. The giant skeleton was still far away, but with its size, Reeva could see it closing the distance in one or two steps. He quickly found a place to hide from the monstrosity. He ran like his life depended on it, rounding the big corner of some building. There, he heaved a sigh of relief and took a breath. Even though his body didn't feel tired, his mind felt like it had lost a year of its life just staring at the giant skeleton. That was something he couldn't hope to face, even if he were a Mystic. What kind of demon was that? Judging from its size, Reeva guessed that it must have been one of the original inhabitants of this place. A huge castle filled with huge skeletons—it made sense. What didn't make sense was why the skeleton decided to wake up. He checked himself again and saw the likely reason. The yellow mist that seeps through his body when he is happy. I couldn't even be happy in this place. Truly a curse. He decided to empty his mind again, hoping the yellow mist would disappear. But he was too late. A sense of danger hit him again, making his hair stand on end. However, this time he wasn't so lucky. The world around him changes in a completely different way. Crush! The sound of something passing through the stone reached where Reeva was. His body was splattered across the ground. He couldn't feel any pain from it, in a way it was more disorienting than getting an immense amount of pain. The last thing he saw was a giant chunk of metal that minced his body.
