Chapter 62: Theia

Theia was confused. She wasn't the brightest mind out there, but even she could tell that Reeva didn't belong to any cult. Her first impression of him wasn't great—at least, she thought that was Reeva. A dark cult member had approached her, saying she had a talent for mysticism. She didn't know who to trust, but at that moment, a voice came from her family treasure, telling her to go with the cult member. She followed the black rectangular artifact, which led her into a cult. She successfully joined them, and they provided her with all the components necessary to construct a star as her foundation. The cult member then conducted a ritual on her. The process was excruciating, involving a lot of pain and suffering. She couldn't even sleep when she first formed it. However, her intent carried her through the process. She wanted to help her sister, and that desire stayed true for the longest time. But that wasn't what confused her. What puzzled her was Reeva's motive. Clearly, the heretic had been unsuccessful in the body-moving art, leaving the original Reeva inside. Yet, Reeva still took her in as if she were in the cult and acted like nothing had happened. The Duke's son knew something she was sure he shouldn't have known. Either he had a secret hobby of being a cult member or he had some omniscient power. Both seemed impossible, Reeva still hadn't formed a foundation. What was even more puzzling was her father's collector's item. She knew it wasn't just a normal item, as it was likely the reason her father fell ill in the first place. She discovered this after Onia left for the academy. The Sun Church had something to do with their downfall, and her father's refusal to give up the item made it worse. Now, it had fallen into the hands of Reeva, the third son of the Antores family. She didn't know if she had made the right decision. After all, she wasn't the best at these things. But the sound of the black stone had always guided her in the right direction. Giving it to Reeva also lifted a weight off her shoulders. The Church would now be chasing the person who had that thing. But that didn't matter now. "Miss, here's the buns!" "Okay!" Theia moved around the assembling station. Her hands worked fast to bring all the ingredients together and deliver them to the customer. Theia was working the evening shift. One of the workers Reeva hired had called in sick. She agreed to work the evening shift because the store was closed in the morning. Leaving many customers with disappointed expressions. So in the evening, The stall was as crowded with people trying to get burgers. She couldn't help but feel delighted. This week, she had spoken to more people than she had in her whole life. And she was learning more than ever. Her father had been a merchant. He ran an export company and hit it big after selling goods for five years. He decided to settle down in Lmemore after acquiring a noble title. Theia was born and raised after her father had already established his business, so her father was the only one running the show with the assistance of some employees. Theia and her sister never had a chance to converse with other people, the estate simply had everything they needed. So Theia always stationed herself in the family library while Onia trained to become the successor since she was the firstborn. When Theia's mother died, the house had no sons, so her father was forced to rely on a female heir. It wasn't too bad, although most families would have preferred a son over a daughter. That's why Onia was training at the academy. And Theia ran away with the family treasure. She couldn't blame her sister for being angry at her. But it simply had to be done, the artifact was ruining their lives, and their father had no power to stop it. For some reason, he didn't want to give it up and ended up suffering from the Church despite their wealth. Power is everything. That was the rule she had learned over time. Her father's downfall was manipulated by a Mystic. Her sister was getting a second chance because she was a Mystic. She had to take a leap for their family. For her sister and her father, she became a Mystic too. However, that didn't mean she became a different person overnight. She still didn't have the confidence or the brains to survive. That's why when Reeva appeared, everything changed. According to what she overheard, Reeva was also from a noble family and had recently been disowned. Left with only his personal maid and 100 stac to survive, his story was much like hers, but worse. From the information the cult member gave her, Reeva's circle of power was broken and couldn't be repaired. He only avoided becoming a husk because he had some Mystic energy left when they healed him. In her mind, having no power was the worst condition. But Reeva couldn't have been more different than her. While she was running around like a headless chicken, following the phone's orders and dirtying herself with a star, Reeva had taken her in with confidence and built a successful business while escaping from the Church. He didn't have any power left in him, but he still strived and made a name for himself. That made her think, was she wrong about power? She didn't know. Did she even need power to build her father's business back up? "Young miss, is my burger ready?" "Oh, sorry, I'll make it right away." She quickly assembled the burger and handed it to the elderly lady. The woman smiled as she looked at Theia. "Hehe, finally able to handle customers?" "What?" "Last time I came here, you were hiding behind your brother while he taught you how to talk to me. But now you're chatting with so many customers. It's nice to see young people learn, that's all." The old lady walked away, allowing the next customer to order a burger. Theia struggled... to keep herself from smiling.
