Extra's Perfect Ending

Chapter 63: Encounter

Here's the revised version of your text: Power was the problem. The weak could only sit by and watch as the strong ruined their lives. Her father had once had a 1st Circle Mystic as his bodyguard, but even that hadn't helped. If she wanted to protect her father, she needed more than that. Two stars? Three stars? She didn't know when to stop. The more she saw of the world, the more she feared. Power far surpassed her imagination. Whether it was Hilda, the maid, the priest, or the old man who controlled people, she didn't stand a chance with her current power. It had significant drawbacks and required intense concentration. If she wasn't careful, she could become crippled from overusing it. The process could be made easier by using human blood, but she was unwilling to do so. Another downside was that when she used her power, she didn't feel like herself. She became confident, cold, and decisive—a far cry from her normal, meek self who could only cry in the face of problems. It was scary. But at the same time, she also felt powerful and assured that this version of herself would handle things differently. Each time she used her power and went to sleep, she was haunted by nightmares of her family's downfall. The star was like a curse to her, granting her power but also bringing these nightmares. She had grown accustomed to it by now—it was just a nightmare, not reality. She was comfortable now that she had power. But she often wondered, when would she be powerful enough? She had to reach at least two stars before returning home, but her aim was three stars to ensure she wouldn't be bullied by the Church again. At times, she wondered how her sister was doing. Would Onia kill her when she returned home? "Miss, I'd like to order five burgers." A sweet voice snapped Theia out of her daydream. "Okay, five burgers coming right…" Theia looked at the customer, her eyes widening. Purple eyes and purple hair pulled into a ponytail. Her sharp gaze exuded confidence. It couldn't be anyone other than her sister—Onia! Her mind went blank, unable to respond to the order. "Miss!" Onia's voice brought her back. "Is something wrong?" "N-No." Theia stuttered a little and quickly went to get the ingredients from another station. "I think we should get six," the white-haired boy spoke, a hint of displeasure in his tone. "Five isn't enough to satisfy me." "I thought jungle monkeys like you only ate raw meat," Bramon remarked. "You never know until you try it, city boy," Ghaarsh said with a hint of pride in his raw meat preference. "But the only monkey here is the guy who burned his tongue on tea." "Oh yeah? Let's see…" "Shut up! Stop fighting!" Onia was beyond annoyed. Brent and Klad had left to gather information from a local private investigator, leaving her with these two fools to buy food. They had waited an hour to place their order, and she didn't want to be thrown out for causing a commotion right before they got their food. "Tch." They both turned their heads away. Onia sighed and waited for the food. The stall had three people working in it—one preparing vegetables and bread, another preparing the meat, and a blonde girl assembling the burgers. They finished one burger in a minute, making it look easy. Onia appreciated their effort, they were working hard, just like her. Her hand clenched into a fist when thinking about it. Finally, after five minutes, the blonde girl arrived with their order—five burgers packed in a thick paper bag. Onia grabs the bags and lets Bramon and Ghaarsh hold onto it. "That'll be 15 coins." The blonde girl spoke enthusiastically, but Onia sensed a hint of worry in her voice. She looked into the girl's eyes and squinted. Reaching into her purse, she grabbed 15 coins and placed them on the table. "Have we met before?" Onia asked, suspecting the girl might have crossed paths with her during one of her "special missions" from the academy. Most of those missions involved criminals, and they were likely the only people who would fear her. Or… "N-No… we've never met before! Never!" Theia stuttered again but managed to finish her answer. Truthfully, Theia feared facing her sister after escaping with the family treasure. How could she not, when her sister was known for punching her problems away? And right now, she has a big problem between them. Onia wasn't convinced, but Theia quickly retrieved the coins to send her sister away. "Please make way for the other customers," Theia said respectfully, leaving Onia with little choice but to walk away. Ghaarsh and Bramon followed, carrying the food. The jungle boy smells, something inside and reaches into the paper bag. Onia looked back at Theia, who was now serving another customer. "Onia, is something wrong?" Ghaarsh inquired, noticing her displeasure. He promptly grabbed one of the burgers and took a large bite. His eyes widen as the meat juice gush out. "I think I've met that girl before," Onia said seriously, her mind racing to recall where she had seen the girl. "Really…?" Ghaarsh was more focused on the burger. "You've got to try this—it's so good!" "God dammit! Can't you just listen to me for a second?" The white-haired boy interrupted her thoughts. "Well, you could ask Klad and Brent about it, right? They know everything anyway. Just stop thinking and enjoy the burgers! I might have seconds if you're too slow." "Such a brainless creature you are," Bramon remarked. "Such a boring creature you are." "Aghh, stop!" Onia wanted to pull her hair out. The stress of keeping these two from fighting was getting more and more annoying to deal with. However, if she looked past that, Ghaarsh had a point. She could just ask Brent or Klad to look into this matter. After all, it sometimes felt like they could read the future.
