Extra's Perfect Ending
Chapter 76: Entering the resturant
"I wish I could stay here," Theia blurted out after getting permission from Reeva to lie on the king-size bed. The cushion was much softer than the one at Grand Road, and the interior was also superior. Every detail of the room was meticulous, with wood carvings depicting various imagery.
The walls were adorned with floral patterns, and the windows opened to offer a beautiful view of the city.
"Theia, go change your clothes first," Reeva instructed, knowing that women often need more time to get ready. Theia pouted but followed his instructions. She took a shower first and was then guided by Hilda to the servant's room to change.
While they were occupied, Reeva also took a shower and changed. They would be running late otherwise. He donned a formal black suit with a red tie and sleek leather boots. Making him more of a gentleman style with the undercut.
Theia soon emerged, dressed in a green ball gown with a low neckline and a jeweled necklace to keep her look from appearing too plain. Her hair was styled into a chignon bun held by a jeweled hairpin, exposing her forehead slightly. The hairstyle revealed a bit of her natural purple hair, as it had been a while since she last dyed it.
The skirt was held up by bustles, making it puff out in the back.
Reeva couldn't deny that the dress was beautiful with all its lace and decoration, but he was glad he wasn't female. Walking in that must have been a pain.
"How do I look?" Theia asked, full of confidence. "I haven't worn this in a while. My father used to make me wear it every day. Now it feels a bit stuffy."
"It's good," Reeva replied honestly. The dress looked good to him, nothing more. "Wear this."
Seeing Reeva's reaction, Theia felt a bit annoyed. She had expected a different response but instead received a simple "It's good." She sighed and put on the white face mask.
"How much time do we have?" Reeva asked.
Hilda glanced at her watch. "We have about 20 minutes left."
"Let's go," Reeva said as he opened the door and stepped outside. They went down the stairs and arrived at the receptionist's desk.
"Where's the restaurant?" Reeva inquired.
"Sir, you should have called. Our staff have sworn an oath of secrecy. We could have received you in your room," the receptionist responded respectfully.
Reeva raised an eyebrow. An "oath of secrecy" in this place likely meant a life contract with their employer. In most cases, leaving would result in severe consequences. Most of their lives would be spent here in the hotel.
"We're here now. Please show us the restaurant," Reeva said, maintaining his tone. The receptionist gestured to the side, indicating a door beside the stairs that Reeva had initially thought was a staff room. Just before they entered the room, the receptionist paused.
"We are grateful that our esteemed guest has purchased the ticket, but we still need to confirm the invitation."
"No problem"
Reeva produced the paper from his hand. The receptionist handled it with care, examining it closely. He whipped out a magnifying glass to inspect it further, and after tweaking the lens a bit, he was finally satisfied.
"I have confirmed your validity, esteemed guest. Please enjoy your meal."
The receptionist opened the door for them, and the three of them entered the room, greeted by a grand sight. Hundreds of tables were draped in white cloth, and at the back, Reeva could see a stage and podium.
The room was lit by lamps and a chandelier, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a grand event.
Theia looked around, not as impressed as Reeva. She had attended similar grand events before. Her time as a wealthy merchant's daughter landed her in these kinds of events. However, she doesn't dare to speak much during such an event.
Not long after they entered, a waiter greeted them with a smile and led them to a table. Best of all, they were provided with a thick paper menu to choose from. The first one he ever come across, complete with a painting of said menu item.
From what Reeva gathered, this was both a buffet and an auction. They charged for the buffet as an entrance fee and then held an auction, killing two birds with one stone.
The ticket covered one table, where they could order anything they wanted. Then attended the auction at the same time. Looking at the menu, Reeva realized that this meal must have cost a fortune if ordered normally. He wasn't surprised by what the hotel had shown him so far.
The more he saw of this operation, the more respect he had for Holen. That guy must have paid big bucks to put Reeva in this position.
But the more he thought about it, the more he questioned why Holen needed them here. The ghost story sounded kind of made up for Reeva, and Holen had spent so much money, including the 1,000 stac on standby.
Giving strangers this much money, putting them in the Landlong Hotel, and preparing everything they needed for this job.
What was this knife, really? Excalibur?
It would have to be something of that level for Holen to invest so much. But from what Reeva had seen so far, Holen didn't even seem like a mystic. Was he really just looking for a killer in a case?
Who knows.
But what Reeva did know was that the food was delicious—more so than the meal he had on his first day here. Theia didn't hold back once she realized it was a buffet. She happily ordered everything on the menu, and Reeva was just as pleased with the meal.
Buuut.... I still think my burger was better.
He couldn't disregard his own hard work, and Theia seemed to agree, as she occasionally looked disappointed while eating the meal. The yellow mist could be seen flowing out of him.
He didn't need to dwell on Holen's motives. His only task was to buy the knife for Holen and fulfill their deal.
Hopefully, nothing would go wrong.
