Extra's Perfect Ending

Chapter 75: Meeting in the alley

The next day arrived in a flash, and although not much happened, it marked the first day he began his training. But reality hit when Hilda said, "It wouldn't be wise to start muscle training when you need to use muscle." Today, he could potentially face danger, and it would be riskier if he became fatigued while running away from said danger. So, instead of muscle training, Hilda taught him the basics of hand-to-hand combat. It wasn't much, but given the limited time, it was better than nothing. The city was built along a shoreline, stretching across many kilometers with four districts. The central district, located directly on the shoreline, wasn't actually in the center of the city from a bird's-eye view. It was called the central district because, long ago, it had been the heart of the city, though time had shifted that center elsewhere. The grand district, west of the central district, housed the main road they would use to travel to Lmemore. In an alley nestled in the central district, a man waited for his partner to arrive, leaning casually against a wall. He wore a top hat and sported a large mustache, patiently waiting in a big trench coat. Three people stepped into the alley: two teenagers and a maid. Holen cracked a smile as he rose from his leaning position. "I'm glad you made it on time. I knew we gentlemen wouldn't break a promise," Holen smirked. "But did you?" Reeva asked. "Such a lowly assumption," Holen replied. "I'll have you know that someone came looking for you and your 'sister's' whereabouts, but this best detective kept his word and turned away 20 whole stac. Your service must be worth that much," he added, crossing his arms proudly. "Thank you. Now, let's get to business. Where do I need to go?" "First, you need to wear this when entering the black market auction." Holen produced three white masks that covered only the upper face. Reeva took one and examined it. The mask was simple, with nothing special about it except for a string to hold it in place. "But you don't need to wear it now." "You came prepared," Reeva complimented him, noting that Holen had three masks ready for them. "Nothing but the best for my friend," Holen said confidently. He also pulled out a piece of paper from his coat, along with a bag of money. "Here's the invitation card. Show this, and you're golden. And here's 1,000 stac to go along with it—enough to buy a knife." "You really came prepared," Reeva repeated, this time with a hint of awe in his voice. A thousand stac could buy a whole house. Even Theia reacted to that kind of money. "When this best detective sets his eyes on something, he gets it," Holen said with determination in his voice. "What if I take this and run away?" Reeva joked, clearly in a good mood. "Jokes have limits, my friend. But if you were to do that, you'd need to be running for the rest of your life," Holen replied with a serious tone. "Then I'd better do my best to please the best detective." "Finally on the same page, I see," Holen said, returning to his detective mode as he handed Reeva another item. "I've already checked in for your room at the Landlong Hotel. Show this card to enter their restaurant at 22:00." "You're not coming?" "As I said, this best detective has to be cautious. Even being near the knife is dangerous for me." Hilda glanced at her watch and saw that it was already 20:00. "Master, I think we need to go now." "Before you go, take this." Holen slid a travel bag over. "This is your change of clothes. Wear it along with the mask to avoid being tracked. It'll also make it look like you're traveling." Reeva was impressed. Earlier, Holen had told them not to bring anything because he would provide everything, and he hadn't been kidding. "Have a safe trip!" Holen waved goodbye as Reeva, Theia, and Hilda left. The hotel wasn't far away, but it was better to have time to prepare than to rush in at the last second. The streets were nearly empty, and the night was growing darker. The oil lamps on the street faintly illuminated the dead of night. Hilda carried an old lamp for them, using it to light their way until they finally arrived at the hotel. Amidst the dark night, the Landlong Hotel stood like a beacon. Reeva could see its grandeur from a mile away. The architecture was brand new, and compared to the old houses nearby, it looked like something from a different era. Even the hotels on the Grand Road paled in comparison. The three of them entered through a revolving door and were greeted by two receptionists at the front desk. Behind them, two staircases led left and right. "Wow," Theia marveled. Just by looking up, one could see a massive chandelier hanging from the ceiling. It didn't give off much light, but it was an excellent piece that added to the building's beauty. From the lobby, they could also see many of the floors above. "How can I help you, sir?" one of the receptionists asked in an elegant tone. "We already have a reserved room," Reeva replied, showing them the key. "Thank you for choosing the Landlong Hotel. Please allow us to guide you to your room," the receptionist said, bowing slightly and gesturing for Reeva to follow. Together, they made their way to the third floor of the hotel. They arrive at the room and the receptionist shows them in. It was a king-size bedroom with a more than gigantic shower. With the best luxurious servant room, Reeva has ever seen. "Have a lovely day sir! If you have any problem or need a room service please ring the bell" After showing them the room, the receptionist leaves them to their own device.
