Fairy, Don’t Be Afraid, I’m Blind

Chapter 59: Fierce Battle

Chapter 59: Fierce Battle

You Su clenched his teeth, his sword-like eyebrows furrowed in anger.

These people, too cowardly to face the colossal beast outside the city, had decided to take out their frustration on him instead. Why couldn’t they just listen to his explanation? Why were they so quick to assume that the problem lay with him and his sect?

Rage burned like fire in You Su’s chest, but it was interrupted by a sudden groan.

“Ah!”

Ji Lingruo clutched her head, one hand braced against the door as if she were suffering from an intense pain.

“Junior Sister! What’s wrong?” You Su quickly supported her, panic evident in his voice.

“My head… it hurts so much!” Ji Lingruo bent her knees, feeling as though her head were splitting open.

You Su was frantic with worry, but he had no idea what was happening.

Qi Daodong, holding a glowing pagoda in his hand, angrily shouted, “It really is an evil spirit! Seize them!”

At his command, the surrounding people immediately sprang into action. Using the mist as cover, they closed in like a pack of wolves circling their prey.

With a sharp snap, You Su drew his Black Pine Sword, its tip gleaming coldly. His face was fierce as he roared at the crowd, “Stay back!”

The attackers hesitated, but not because of You Su. It was the sight of the young girl writhing unnaturally against the wall that frightened them.

Except for Qi Daodong, who had seen the colossal beast on the city wall earlier, everyone else was facing an evil spirit for the first time. They were afraid that the beautiful girl might suddenly turn into a hideous demon and take their lives.

Seeing their hesitation, Qi Daodong poured more spiritual energy into the pagoda in his hand, causing its light to grow even brighter. He shouted, “With the Evil-Suppressing Pagoda given by Immortal Gu, this evil spirit won’t be able to cause any trouble! Capture them quickly!”

Upon hearing this, Wu Ping was the first to step forward, sword in hand. However, Wu Cheng blocked him with his own sword. Wu Cheng looked at You Su who stood alone and tried to reason with him again, “You Su, don’t be stubborn! If you just step aside, I won’t let them harm you.”

But You Su seemed to be deaf to his words. His eyes were fixed on the crowd, filled with hatred. Why was he blind? Why couldn’t he see the faces of these foolish, arrogant people?

“We haven’t harmed anyone! Why are you targeting us?” You Su gripped his sword with both hands, his voice a hoarse roar.

Wu Cheng helplessly shook his head. Whether they had harmed anyone or not did not matter anymore. In their eyes, anyone who was not like them was inherently suspicious. In this situation, no one would believe You Su’s words.

“Let’s go,” Wu Cheng said, leading the charge. The others followed, including Wu Ping, who looked excited as if he were about to fulfill a long-held wish.

The clashing of swords rang out as You Su repelled several attackers with a single strike. However, Wu Cheng was no ordinary opponent and continued to attack. The others, unable to find an opening, waited for their chance to strike.

The two fought fiercely, their movements a blur. Thinking himself clever, Wu Ping secretly chanted a spell and launched it at You Su. However, due to the speed of the fight, the spell almost hit Wu Cheng instead.

Wu Cheng glared at Wu Ping, who lowered his head in embarrassment. It was then that Wu Ping noticed the trembling girl huddled by the door. A wicked thought crossed his mind:

No wonder she’s the junior sister of a blind man! She must be hiding her true, hideous form! If you’re an evil spirit, why don’t you show your ugly face instead of pretending to be beautiful to tempt me?

Now that you’re immobilized by the pagoda, I’ll force you to reveal your true self!

Wu Ping mustered up his courage and approached the girl, who was writhing in pain.

“Let’s capture this evil spirit!”

Upon hearing this, You Su erupted with a burst of energy. He parried Wu Cheng’s strike and leaped back to the side of his junior sister. Breathing heavily, he raised his sword and glared at Wu Ping, shouting hysterically, “I’ll say it again! Stay back!”

Wu Ping scoffed and laughed at the blind man’s futile struggle. No matter how strong You Su was, how could he possibly defeat so many people? Especially with their master, a peak Water Condensation Realm cultivator, backing them up.

“Keep him busy! Our target is the girl who was transformed by the evil spirit!”

Wu Ping wasn’t wrong. Their mission wasn’t to capture You Su, but the girl who had been identified as an evil spirit by the Evil Repelling Token.

Realizing this, the others stopped focusing solely on You Su. No matter how skilled he was, he couldn’t protect the girl forever. They swarmed forward.

Several spells were launched, this time targeting the weakened Ji Lingruo instead of You Su. Furious, You Su intercepted the powerful spells with his sword, his gaze fixed on the casters as if they were already dead.

As his hatred surged, a violent vibration erupted within him, just like the night he had killed Elder Ling. This vibration was stronger than a heartbeat, as if multiple hearts were pounding simultaneously within his chest.

With his sword in his hand, You Su’s vision briefly returned. He cherished this fleeting moment of clarity, scanning the crowd to memorize every face.

“His… his eyes!” someone in the crowd suddenly cried out in fear.

Seeing You Su’s pitch black eyes, Wu Ping stumbled back, cursing viciously, “Damn it! No wonder that blind guy is so strong-he’s an evil spirit, too!”

Wu Cheng, who had been standing at the edge of the crowd, looked at You Su’s eyes in disbelief. However, Qi Daodong narrowed his eyes and continued to pour energy into the pagoda.

Ji Lingruo’s struggle grew more intense until she finally succumbed to the pain and fainted. Yet, You Su remained unaffected by the pagoda. Qi Daodong was confused:

When City Lord Liu had given him the pagoda, he had said that any evil spirit would react to it. Could it be that You Su wasn’t an evil spirit?

But now, with You Su’s eerie black eyes and the dark aura surrounding him, who would believe that he wasn’t an evil spirit?

Qi Daodong leaped into the center of the battlefield, glaring at You Su as he shouted, “You Su! Stop fighting!”

“Should I just let you capture me?” You Su roared back, taking another step to completely shield the unconscious Ji Lingruo.

Black and white mist swirled around You Su, making him look like a monstrous blend of holiness and evil.

“Stubborn fool! A rotten sect breeds rotten disciples!” Qi Daodong roared in anger, no longer focusing on controlling the pagoda. Compared to the girl, the blind man was clearly the greater threat.

A powerful pressure emanated from Qi Daodong, enveloping the battlefield. Even the nearby servants almost fell to their knees.

However, You Su stood firm, enduring the pressure as he stared directly at Qi Daodong. The Black Pine Sword in his hand resonated with his fury, humming fiercely. Suddenly, You Su seemed to calm down, his voice cold as he said, “Sect Leader Qi, I can understand your hostility toward me, but you should never have insulted my sect!”
