Chapter 24: Dark Memories of Gilgamesh 5
Time passed slowly, and Gilgamesh finally found the goblins' lair. Without any hesitation, he launched his attack and initiated a merciless slaughter. The green blood of the goblins was splattered everywhere, and their lifeless bodies piled up. With terrifying skill, Gilgamesh struck down the goblins one after another. Amidst the chaos, the Goblin King appeared. A massive creature, nearly two meters tall, wielding a large wooden club that seemed capable of splitting a mountain apart. The Goblin King roared savagely and charged at Gilgamesh. His wooden club smashed into the ground with devastating force, shattering the earth within a ten-meter radius.
Gilgamesh, with unparalleled agility, dodged the blow and, in a swift motion, thrust his spear directly into the Goblin King's eyes. The Goblin King screamed in pain but did not surrender. With a powerful punch, he sent Gilgamesh flying backward, and he landed several meters away. The Goblin King, now blinded, attacked Gilgamesh with even greater fury. Like a wild beast, he struck aimlessly around him, destroying everything in his path.
Gilgamesh, despite the wounds etched across his body, continued to evade the Goblin King's attacks. He leaped onto a large boulder and from there launched an assault on the Goblin King's back. His blows rained down one after another on the Goblin King's body, filling the area with the green blood of the goblins. The Goblin King, now with only one arm and his body torn apart by numerous wounds, still clung to life with strange tenacity and resisted.
Gilgamesh, his face bloodied and breathing heavily, reminded himself: *"If I've learned anything these past few days, it's that this damned devil doesn't give simple tests. He always tries to make things harder. But I am Gilgamesh, the prince of Uruk, the future king of Uruk, the noble demigod. I never surrender to difficult conditions."* With this thought, he charged at the Goblin King once more.
The Goblin King, now completely blind, swung wildly around him. Gilgamesh, with precision and patience, found a weakness in his defense and, in a final move, drove his spear straight into the Goblin King's heart. Even in his dying moments, the Goblin King did not surrender and, with his last ounce of strength, delivered a final blow to Gilgamesh. The blow was so powerful that it sent Gilgamesh crashing into the cave wall, nearly shattering all the bones in his body.
Gilgamesh, his body broken and bloodied, stared at the cave ceiling. *"If I had the Gate of Babylon, I could have easily killed this monster."* The thought circled in his mind. But suddenly, a golden light enveloped him, and his body slowly disappeared. The cave was now filled only with the corpses of thousands of goblins.
Gilgamesh's eyes opened again, and he found himself in a bright, white room. Information about this room flooded his mind: this was the rest room, a place where, after completing each floor, he could regain his lost strength. Gilgamesh sighed and lay down on the floor. He looked at his hands; it seemed all his wounds had healed. *"It seems that damned devil has a little conscience."* With this thought, Gilgamesh cursed Shikama Doji. His eyelids grew heavy, and like a baby, he fell into a peaceful sleep.
