Fate: The Rise of Shikama Douji

Chapter 28: meeting

While Shikama Doji had gone to another continent, Gilgamesh returned to Uruk and placed the crown upon his head. With the wisdom and power he possessed, it didn't take long for Uruk to flourish even more than during its peak. The people were happy and praised Gilgamesh. Uruk grew wealthier every day and surpassed other kingdoms by leaps and bounds.

But after a few years, Gilgamesh gradually changed. Once a wise and just king, he had now become a tyrant, arrogant and oppressive. The people were saddened by the fall of their king. Gilgamesh, with his greed and extremism, had made life difficult for the people. The reason for this change, perhaps, was that as Gilgamesh grew more powerful, he saw the filthy nature of the gods and ultimately chose humans over the gods.

One day, Gilgamesh was sitting on his throne, holding a goblet. As he drank wine, he thought of Shikama Doji. The relationship between Gilgamesh and Shikama Doji was akin to Stockholm syndrome—a psychological phenomenon where a hostage develops feelings of empathy and loyalty toward their captor. Although Gilgamesh hated Shikama Doji, he respected him.

Suddenly, Gilgamesh felt the presence of a magical force. He frowned and looked outside. Something with a power comparable to his was approaching, but it was not a godlike being. This being that had divinity but was not God, but had a power similar to him. Gilgamesh grinned

"Gilgamesh, you tyrant! I judge you in the name of the gods!"

Gilgamesh saw a green-haired man whose beauty reminded him of his teacher. Yes, it was Enkidu. With eyes blazing in anger, Enkidu charged at Gilgamesh. Golden chains were hurled toward Gilgamesh, but he easily deflected the attack. Gilgamesh frowned, but in his mind, he wondered how the gods could create a being on the level of a prime god.

"This is impossible for the gods. Only two people could do such a thing: one is the Mother of Creation, Tiamat, and the other is my bastard teacher. But Tiamat resides in the world of dreams and rarely comes to reality."

After some thought, Gilgamesh concluded that it must have been his teacher's doing. Even though his training had ended, his teacher's surprises were not over. His teacher had a reason for empowering Enkidu.

"I don't want to destroy my own kingdom. Let's go somewhere else."

Gilgamesh said this in his usual arrogant tone. Enkidu looked at him and nodded. He, too, did not want to harm innocent people.

As they headed to another area, Shikama Doji encountered a purple-haired girl lying wounded on the ground. The corpses of dozens of giant wolves were scattered around her. The girl stared at Shikama Doji with a cautious gaze. She looked like a wounded wild animal.

"Who are you?" the girl asked cautiously.

Shikama Doji smiled softly and replied, "Hmm... I have many names, but it doesn't matter. From now on, I am your teacher."

A golden light enveloped the girl, and her wounds miraculously healed. The girl stared at Shikama Doji in shock and fell silent, as if digesting this unexpected event. Shikama Doji looked at her calmly.
