Chapter 54: Chapter 054: A Grand Display of "Wife Management"

Shao Yun followed closely behind Lumine as the three of them arrived at the Good Hunter restaurant.

Outside the restaurant, the soft morning sunlight bathed the wooden tables and chairs, creating a serene and cozy atmosphere.

However, Lumine's mood was far from harmonious with the surroundings. She sat at the table, pouting, her gaze darting to the side, clearly displeased with Shao Yun.

"Hmph!"

(TL/N: don't act like that Lumine.. its make me wanna see your doujin again 🙃 )

Paimon, sensing the tension between the two, looked at Shao Yun curiously and whispered, "Hey, Shao Yun, what's going on between you and Lumine? It feels like you two are having a fight or something."

Shao Yun, caught off guard by Paimon's question, felt a wave of awkwardness. He scratched his head, trying to come up with an explanation.

"Well, it's like this..."

But he couldn't find the right words. He waved his hand helplessly and pointed at the menu on the table. "Ah, Paimon, just look at the menu and order something. Didn't you say you were starving?"

Paimon rolled her eyes at Shao Yun and muttered, "Weird."

Although she was curious about what was going on between them, she decided not to press further since Shao Yun didn't seem willing to explain. She picked up the menu and began carefully selecting the dishes she wanted.

Meanwhile, Shao Yun sat to the side, occasionally stealing glances at Lumine's expression. But with Paimon around, he couldn't really speak freely.

Paimon's eyes sparkled with excitement as she looked at the menu. She turned to Sara, the waitress, and said, "I'll have the Honey-Roasted Carrots, Sweet Madame, and..."

She ordered a variety of dishes, from Honey-Roasted Carrots to Sweet Madame, Mondstadt Hash Browns, and Pile 'Em Up—each one her favorite.

Seeing that the food would take a while to arrive, Shao Yun decided to send Paimon on a quick errand to give himself and Lumine some alone time.

He turned to Paimon and said with a smile, "Hey, Paimon, could you go to Angel's Share and get three bottles of Apple Cider? Hurry up."

Paimon immediately pouted and complained, "Huh? Why Paimon?" She clearly didn't want to miss out on the upcoming feast.

Shao Yun, seeing her reluctance, pulled out a bulging pouch of Mora and dangled it in front of Paimon. "Go on, and whatever's left is yours!"

Paimon's eyes lit up at the sight of the Mora pouch. She snatched it up and flew off toward Angel's Share, calling back, "Don't you dare go back on your word, Shao Yun!"

In the blink of an eye, she was out of sight.

With Paimon gone, only Shao Yun and Lumine remained.

Shao Yun sat across from Lumine, watching her pout with a mix of guilt and regret. He knew he had to address the issue honestly.

Taking a deep breath, Shao Yun said cautiously, "Lumine."

Lumine glanced at him, her tone sharp. "What?" Her voice carried a hint of impatience, clearly still upset.

Shao Yun nervously licked his lips, knowing he needed to clear up the misunderstanding. He spoke softly, "I'm sorry. I might have overreacted earlier and didn't consider your feelings."

Lumine sighed deeply, rubbing her temples in frustration. She looked at Shao Yun with a serious expression. "I'm really angry."

She didn't mince words. "Why would you think that? Do you really believe I'd abandon you over something so trivial?"

Shao Yun lowered his head, unable to meet her gaze. He muttered, "But, you know, sometimes tough choices have to be made..."

Lumine, hearing this, stomped on Shao Yun's boot again, her anger flaring. "I don't understand. All I know is that you're my travel companion. Do you think I'd abandon Paimon for my own safety? We're partners, and no matter what challenges we face, we should face them together!"

(TL/N: arghh so cringe! Can i drop this novel?)

Shao Yun fell silent. But he wasn't like Paimon—he couldn't fly, after all.

Lumine stared at Shao Yun, her emotions a tangled mess.

She knew Shao Yun's intentions were good—he wanted to protect her. But his indifferent tone still irked her.

The Fatui had brought this on themselves. Good people shouldn't have to live in fear of being threatened.

Lumine took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, and decided to put an end to the unpleasant conversation. She said coldly, "I don't want to hear anything like that from you again."

Shao Yun, seeing Lumine's expression, knew she was genuinely angry. He felt a pang of regret. Why had he said those things? He knew Lumine wouldn't like it. He tried to explain, but Lumine cut him off.

"Some things are better said outright," Shao Yun continued, looking at Lumine. "But I'm afraid if—"

Before he could finish, Lumine stomped on his foot again. Shao Yun winced in pain but didn't cry out.

He looked up at Lumine, her eyes filled with anger and frustration.

"Would you just shoot innocent bystanders?" Lumine suddenly asked, her voice serious and stern.

Shao Yun was stunned by the question, his mind racing.

He had done worse—massacres, arson, all more routine than meals.

Lumine, seeing Shao Yun's silence, grew even more furious. She slammed her hand on the table, the sound sharp and clear.

"Answer me!"

Shao Yun jumped at the noise, quickly snapping back to reality. He looked at Lumine and said, "I've never done that, and I never will!"

After all, Noelle's words had finally filled his honor meter. He had to cherish that 50% discount and couldn't go around killing people recklessly.

Lumine, hearing Shao Yun's answer, felt her anger slowly dissipate, replaced by a sense of relief and satisfaction.

But she kept a stern face, not wanting to let Shao Yun see her inner joy.

"Then what are you even saying?" she said lightly, her tone still carrying a hint of reproach, though the happiness in her heart was undeniable.

Shao Yun, hearing Lumine's tone, felt a flicker of hope. Had she forgiven him?

Afraid of misreading the situation, he tentatively asked, "So..."

Lumine didn't answer immediately. Instead, she rested her chin on her hand, deep in thought.

After a moment, the corners of her lips curled into a slight smile, and she spoke slowly.

"I forgive you."

With that, the little incident was put behind them. Just as Sara brought out the dishes Paimon had ordered, Paimon returned, huffing and puffing, carrying six bottles of Apple Cider. For someone of Paimon's size, six bottles were quite a lot.

Lumine looked at the six bottles in surprise and asked Paimon, "Paimon, didn't Shao Yun ask you to buy three bottles? Why did you bring back six? Can you even drink four by yourself?"

Paimon, exhausted, slumped into her chair, trying to catch her breath.

Then she shook her head and said, "I don't know why I bought so many. This is what happened..."

---

Ten minutes earlier, at Angel's Share.

Paimon pushed open the tavern door, her face beaming with joy as her clear voice echoed through the empty room.

"Charles, Paimon need three bottles of Apple Cider—the best ones!"

As she spoke, she pulled out 4,500 Mora from the pouch and placed it on the table.

Charles took the Mora and nodded with a smile.

"Of course, Miss Paimon. Three bottles of the finest Apple Cider, coming right up."

He turned to prepare the drinks, while Paimon curiously looked around, already planning how to spend the remaining Mora.

Soon, Charles returned with three bottles of premium Apple Cider.

Noticing Paimon was alone, he couldn't help but ask, "Miss Paimon, where are the Honorary Knight and... Mr. Shao Yun today?"

Paimon, hearing this, turned to Charles with a proud smile. "Oh, they're at the Good Hunter. Shao Yun's treating us to breakfast and sent Paimon to get the Apple Cider."

Charles paused, as if remembering something, and quickly took back the three bottles, his face apologetic.

Paimon, seeing this, felt a pang of worry. Did this have something to do with Shao Yun beating up the Fatui and angering Master Diluk? Were they refusing to sell to them now?

She asked nervously, "What's wrong? Is Master Diluc mad at us because of what Shao Yun did last time?"

Charles, seeing Paimon's anxiety, quickly explained, "No, Miss Paimon, you've got it all wrong."

He then pulled out three more bottles from behind the counter and placed them on the bar.

"If it's for Mr. Shao Yun, then 4,500 Mora should get you six bottles. Here you go, and be careful not to drop them."

---

After recounting the story, Paimon spread her hands, looking both helpless and confused.

"So that's what happened. That's why Paimon brought back six bottles."

Shao Yun, hearing this, struggled to suppress a smile.

He tried to keep his voice calm and serious as he looked at Paimon, whose bright eyes were now filled with confusion.

"Paimon, have you ever thought about something?" Shao Yun pinched his thigh to keep from laughing as he asked.

Paimon scratched her head, looking puzzled. She blinked at Shao Yun.

"What thing?"

Shao Yun finally couldn't hold back his laughter. He covered his eyes, his shoulders shaking as he laughed.

This only confused Paimon more.

"You can return unopened bottles, you know... hahaha..." Shao Yun said, bursting into laughter.

Paimon's eyes widened as if she'd just realized something. She smacked her forehead and exclaimed, "Ah!"

Shao Yun, seeing Paimon's adorable mix of frustration and realization, couldn't help but tease her. "Paimon, that look of shock on your face makes me think you were planning to drink all four bottles yourself!"

Paimon, hearing Shao Yun's teasing, blushed furiously and flailed her arms in protest. "Paimon wasn't! Paimon really didn't think it would turn out like this!"

She then flew into Lumine's arms, pretending to cry. "Waaah, Lumine, Shao Yun's bullying Paimon!"

Shao Yun, watching this, was speechless. She got a good deal and still acts like the victim? That pouch had over 10,000 Mora!

He decided to play along, pretending to be angry. "Hey, Paimon, that's slander. If you're going to accuse me, then give the rest of the money back!"

He held out his hand, wiggling his fingers, signaling for Paimon to hand over the Mora.

Paimon, hearing this, immediately clutched her hidden stash of Mora and protested, "Hey! Didn't you say the rest of the money was mine?"

Her eyes shone with determination, clearly unwilling to part with her "spoils."

Shao Yun, seeing Paimon's reaction, couldn't help but laugh. He gave her a reason she couldn't refuse. "You slandered me and still want to keep the money? Hand it over!"

He wiggled his fingers again, insisting.

Paimon quickly covered her mouth and whispered, "Okay, okay, I won't say anything else. Just don't take the money, alright?"

Lumine, watching Paimon's flustered state, covered her mouth and laughed.

Paimon, seeing this, grabbed Lumine's shoulders and shook her in protest.

"Hey! Why are you laughing at me too, Lumine? Stop laughing!"
