Chapter 549: The Trap?
"I will have fun ending what I couldn't before."
"Who…" By the sudden turn of events, Wei Rui was startled. She instinctively took a step back as Noah and his companions suddenly appeared before her. Clearly, she did not expect someone to appear before her eyes.
All the force she brought was standing behind her on the huge deck of the ship, their expression no different from a puppet waiting for her commands to take action.
Wei Rui snapped out of her daze and gazed at the two unknown people who appeared before her out of nowhere.
Her gaze first landed on a young man dressed in regal blue robes with carefully woven patterns all over them. His body hung in the air without the support of any artifact, indicating he was at least a Core Formation Realm expert.
There was a beautiful black mask on his face that gave off mysterious vibes, hiding everything about the man one could peek through their spirit sense.
With his hands clasped behind his back, the boy looked back at her. He was not in a hurry to move.
Wei Rui immediately overlapped the description she received from her man with the young man standing before her.
"How did you—" she began, but her words were cut off as she realized the futility of questioning how they had appeared so suddenly. Instead, her gaze sharpened as she assessed the situation.
'It's definitely the boy we were told about, but why can't I sense any cultivation from him?' Wei Rui's mind was in a buzz as she looked at Noah, wondering what was going on.
'There are several things that are wrong here. How did he appear out of nowhere before me? How did he know we are here for him? His previous words…' Wei Rui narrowed her eyes in suspicion. 'And more importantly, who is that woman? Is she the elder the general assumed was guarding her?'
She thought grimly as her gaze turned towards the woman standing beside Noah. Find adventures on My Virtual Library Empire
Even though she was not saying anything, Wei Rui could feel a pair of deep blue eyes locked on her body, watching her every movement.
The beautiful woman was dressed in enchanting blue robes that hugged her body enough to showcase her voluptuous curves.
Unlike the boy, she was not wearing a mask, which allowed her to see the slight, gentle smile on the woman's face that gave off motherly vibes.
But she knew better than to trust what she was seeing.
'Monster!!!'
Just a single gaze from the woman gave her the feeling of being looked down on by a very terrifying beast.
She could feel it in her heart that she was no match for the woman.
Sweat started to fill her back as Wei Rui felt impending doom awaiting her if she made any rash moves.
'Just what is this Benevolent Guardian Sect? How could they have someone like her as a mere elder? Did they send their fucking sect leader with the boy if not their supreme elder?'
Revenge was the last thing on Wei Rui's mind as she started panicking about what might happen next.
Thankfully, her face was covered with a piece of cloth, which prevented her enemy from seeing her panicking before them.
Or so she thought…
Ignoring her inner turmoil, Noah moved in the air as he gently landed on the bowsprit of the ship, one foot after another.
His face never moved away from the enemy before him. Xin Yan and Elysia watched everything from the sidelines with a smile on their faces.
Noah, still in disguise, tilted his head slightly, his eyes hidden behind the mask, but the cold amusement in his voice was unmistakable. "Surprised to see us? From your cultivation and seeing from the fact that you can keep your sanity, you should be at least on the level of the captain." He said her title with a mocking tone, as if it were a joke. "I figured it was time we had a proper introduction."
His remark caused the woman's eyes to widen. Never in her life did she imagine an outsider would know something that was only privy to the people of core management in the cult.
"How did you know that? Who are you?" she asked coldly, fighting against her fear with all of her willpower. After all, Noah could be someone who could affect the plans of their lord. Wei Rui did not mind his tone but focused on something deeper. 'I cannot allow that to happen, even if it costs me my life.'
"My, my, don't you already know who I am? After all, you brought so much force just to deal with me." Noah asked with what she determined as playfulness, even though it was subtle. "As for how I know all of this, you're out of your depth, Wei Rui. This game is beyond you."
Wei Rui's heart pounded in her chest, but she forced herself to stand tall, her hands clenched into fists. She knew his words meant something deeper than he was letting on to.
'I cannot let this boy leave this place without getting information. The problem is this woman.' Glancing at the gentle-looking woman, she couldn't help but feel chills, knowing she could not see through her power as well. 'Well, whatever, I will do everything to complete my mission, even if I have to use "that." There is no other alternative, or even if it's not for the lord, that man will tear my bones out from my body without touching my skin.'
"You think you can just waltz in here and confront me?" she spat out, trying to mask the fear in her voice with bravado. "You're walking right into a trap, boy."
She pushed everything she was feeling—fear of death, anger, curiosity—deep in her heart as she gazed at Noah, 'Everything for the lord.'
As the cloth on her face fluttered with the wind, the puppet-like followers behind her came to life and spread out in a refined pattern, circling around Noah and Xin Yan as they were the only ones visible to them.
