Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Mine Wolf King, Elite Leader

After navigating the maze-like tunnels of the mine, Marsh and his team entered the second half of the dungeon. The passage stretched as far as the eye could see, about one kilometer in length.

On both sides of the passage were rows of cells, each encased in massive iron gates that resembled prison bars. The eerie cries of unseen beasts echoed through the cavernous passage, adding to the oppressive atmosphere. In addition to the bloodthirsty stench of the beasts, a pungent, fishy smell hung in the air, making it hard to breathe.

At the far end of the passage, a colossal creature stood blocking the way. It resembled a wolf or a giant dog, and even while lying on the ground, it stood over a meter tall. If it stood on all fours, it would easily surpass three meters in height. Its body stretched more than five meters in length, an imposing figure that dwarfed everything around it.

Marsh quickly activated his detection skill, and the monster's details appeared in front of him.

Mine Wolf King (Elite Leader)

Level: 15

Power: 2000

Agility: 2000

Spirit: 1000

Physique: 2500

Skill: Roar

This was Marsh's first encounter with a boss-level monster, and it was an elite boss at that. Although its attributes didn't quite match those of Marsh's skeleton warriors, it was much stronger than most of the mobs they had faced so far.

"Given the Mine Wolf King's stats, the final boss of this dungeon is likely to be even more powerful," Marsh mused. "But it shouldn't surpass my skeleton warriors. If it did, this dungeon would be nearly unbeatable."

In dungeons of nightmare difficulty, this kind of monster was not unexpected. Usually, players capable of clearing such dungeons were much stronger than the average monster they encountered. Most elite teams had an average level of 17 or 18, along with high-level equipment and advanced skills. Without these, it would be impossible to complete a nightmare dungeon.

However, Marsh was a rare exception. He was the first person in history to clear a nightmare dungeon at level 10.

The Mine Wolf King stirred, roused from its deep slumber by the disturbance caused by Marsh's detection skill. It slowly rose to its feet, towering over Marsh and his skeleton warriors. Standing, it was even more imposing—its massive body reaching over five meters tall.

Marsh and his skeleton warriors were no taller than the creature's legs. The wolf's scarlet eyes locked onto Marsh, exuding an almost tangible bloodlust.

A terrible oppressive presence washed over the area.

"Charge!" Marsh commanded.

At his signal, 56 skeleton warriors surged forward, moving like a wave toward the Mine Wolf King.

The Mine Wolf King let out a terrifying roar, and suddenly, a powerful shockwave erupted from its mouth.

The first wave of skeleton warriors, numbering around thirty, were instantly sent flying by the shockwave. The mine walls on both sides trembled, and rocks tumbled down from above.

Marsh, standing some distance away, was momentarily taken aback by the force of the attack. He had never seen his skeleton warriors blown away like this before.

"This skill has a group effect with a shockwave," Marsh noted with surprise.

The skeleton warriors, thrown to the ground and crashing into the rock walls, were momentarily disoriented, but Marsh wasn't worried. He could feel that the damage they sustained wasn't severe.

With a physique of 3400, the skeleton warriors were more than tough enough to handle such an attack.

The warriors quickly recovered, their soul fires blazing brightly in their eye sockets. They were back on their feet in no time, and the cracks left by the shockwave repaired themselves as if nothing had happened.

"Use skills!" Marsh ordered, his voice unwavering.

The skeleton warriors that had been blown away rushed back into the fray, their large swords glowing red as they activated their Furious Blow skills.

The Mine Wolf King roared in pain as the skeleton warriors hacked into its flesh, blood splattering across the stone floor. The beast howled as its skin was torn open, and its bones became exposed in some areas.

Several skeleton warriors leaped into the air, their swords glowing with crimson energy as they descended upon the Mine Wolf King, slashing at it from all angles.

Marsh couldn't help but compare the scene to the earlier battles he had witnessed when his skeleton warriors fought the dragon. Though the Mine Wolf King was enormous, it wasn't nearly as powerful as the dragon, nor was it as difficult to damage.

The skeleton warriors' attack power was simply too great. Every strike dealt significant damage, and the Mine Wolf King struggled to fight back.

The Mine Wolf King thrashed violently, trying to throw off the skeleton warriors that had latched onto its massive form. It slammed its body into the walls of the mine, but the skeleton warriors held fast, refusing to let go.

Those on the ground quickly rushed forward, leaping at its legs and striking with their swords. Each strike produced a metallic clang as the blades hit bone, and the Mine Wolf King screamed in agony.

In retaliation, the wolf king swiped at the skeleton warriors with its massive claws, sending some of them flying. However, the skeleton warriors were incredibly resilient. They were quickly back on their feet and ready to continue the assault.

The Mine Wolf King attempted to bite one of the skeleton warriors, but its teeth shattered against the warrior's bone-like armor.

"What's the use of being big if you can't take a hit?" Marsh muttered, watching the struggle unfold.

The Mine Wolf King's massive size may have intimidated at first, but it had become a liability. The creature's immense strength wasn't enough to protect it from the relentless attacks of Marsh's skeleton warriors. It wasn't long before the wolf king was on the brink of death.

With a final, furious roar, the Mine Wolf King activated its skill again, this time putting all of its remaining strength into the attack. The shockwave of its roar intensified, sweeping through the battlefield and knocking all of the skeleton warriors off its body.

Even those standing at a distance were not spared from the blast. The shockwave sent them flying, their bodies tumbling through the air like ragdolls.

"The power of the skill is average, but the flying effect is impressive," Marsh remarked calmly, watching as the skeleton warriors were tossed through the air. Despite the skill's overwhelming force, the skeleton warriors weren't seriously harmed. They quickly rolled over and returned to the fight.

The Mine Wolf King, now severely weakened, turned and began limping toward the passage, trying to escape the battle.

"Trying to flee?" Marsh observed, his expression unchanged. The battle was nearly won. The Mine Wolf King's days were numbered.
