"But everyone in the village is praising that girl now," Lang Ru's eyes darkened when she thought about how everyone in the village was standing up for Du Nuannuan and rebuked her mother for being too unkind to her.

It was as if Du Nuannuan was some sort of messiah for their village.

"Why are they praising her?" Yu Mai asked with a frown.

On the other side, Yu Dong rubbed her ears after she was done listening to the scolding of her husbands. She raised her head and asked, "What's going on with them? Why are they suddenly praising that girl?"

She also found out about how Du Nuannuan was being preferred by the entire village to her husbands.

"Who knows? What's wrong with them? They have been acting like fools," said Chen Mi who couldn't sit still after seeing Master Gu act all smug in front of him. It was as if he knew that as long as Yu Dong was to return to the village, she would start favouring Du Nuannuan as well.

She coughed and waved a hand in front of her, with a frown on her face.

"Whats the matter with you?" Grandma Yu asked and Yu Dong frowned when she sensed that despite smelling as if she had rolled in a graveyard the woman was completely unfazed as if she could not smell anything.

While Yu Dong was studying, Grandma Yu was studying her as well. Her eyes fell on the reddened lobes of Yu Dong's ears and she glared at the mers behind Yu Dong.

With her face turning red, she said to Shen Li, "What do you think you are doing? As her official husband, you should be teaching these fools how to behave properly. Why are you acting the same as them?"

"I knew that making you marry Dong Dong was a mistake!"

Shen Li's eyes turned red as he clenched his fists on his side. He had been listening to these things ever since Yu Dong left and he knew that Grandma Yu was not saying such things because she wanted to.

Someone must have pulled strings behind them.

Most probably Du Nuannuan or someone behind her.

"Grandma," Yu Dong stepped in front of her husbands and Grandma Yu. Her eyes flickered as she looked at the elderly woman and noticed that her eyes were somewhat dazed. "I think that you are too tired, you should sleep."

"I am fine, Dong Dong. And there is no need for you to—"

Yu Dong shot a needle with a tranquilising agent smeared on its tip at Grandma Yu who frowned when teh needle stuck in her throat, however, before she could see what was happening —her eyes rolled back in her sockets and —

Yu Dong caught the elderly woman in her arms before turning to look at Shen Li and the rest. She asked them, "Why didn't you tell me that among everyone my grandmother was also involved."

"We didn't want to throw such troublesome stuff at your head right away," replied Ye Liu with a frown on his face. "Anyway, Grandma often stays outside these days playing with that brat called Du Nuannuan. So there is nothing to worry about."

"Except for the money that grandma uses on Du Nuannuan," said Chen Mi crossly. He turned to look at Yu Dong and said to her, "I don't know how she did it but somehow she had managed to win the entire village and now everyone including grandma treats her like she is the daughter of the heavens. We have tried to reduce the amount of money that we give to Grandma Yu but—"

"I found that girl Du Nuannuan telling grandma that we didn't take her seriously which is why we are treating her like this—it led to another row and we just handed over the money to grandma," stated Fang Chi with a light voice. "My grandmother is the same—she is going on and on about how I need to teach Bo Bo better like how Master Du had taught his daughter."

Yu Dong frowned, she looked at Grandma Yu and dragged her to the couch in the living room. Once she pushed the old woman on the couch, she placed her fingers on the wrist of the elder woman.
