Haikyuu : The Unstoppable Force

Chapter 11: Chapter 11 : Karasuno Neighbourhood Team

---

Sitting outside the volleyball hall, Asahi was now in a dilemma.

"As long as you still love volleyball, there's plenty of reason to come back!" Sugawara's words still rang in his ears.

"Maybe you've been blocked many times... But you will have more time to spike again and score!"

Then, the faces of Hinata and Kageyama appeared in front of him, as well as what they said.

"Not only us, but also a very good guy in the team this year!"

"No matter how strong the blocker is, they can't stop his spike. Asahi-senpai, why don't you take a look?"

---

"You can't win alone; there are six people on this court!"

The love for volleyball could not be extinguished. However, when the Spikes were stopped again and again, Sugawara and Nishinoya looked at each other in pain.

"Let's take a look... Just take a look!"

Looking at the fiery red sunset in the sky, Asahi gritted his teeth, got up, and walked towards the arena. Every step was incredibly difficult.

"Ah, it's Asahi Senpai!" Hinata, by the window, shouted loudly.

At this moment, everyone's attention was drawn to him.

"It's over. I can't leave if I want to now!"

---

Karasuno Neighbourhood Team!

Not many people were able to come this time. But with the addition of Asahi, Sugawara, and Nishinoya, it still made up a complete team.

"Please advise!"

"Well, come on, high school students!"

The whistle sounded.

Snap!

As the first ball was served, the little practice match officially began.

"Takeda-sensei, I heard that you went to play a training match with Aoba Johsai some time ago?"

Coach Keishin looked at the game on the field and asked Takeda on the side.

"Yes, we won 2-0!"

"The lineup was the six on the left."

This time, the starting position had Akira, Tsukishima, and Daichi standing in the back row. Tanaka, Hinata, and Kageyama were in the front row.

"That little guy is in the main attacking position. Is he also the main Spiker?"

Coach Keishin, observing from his position, was stunned.

"Of course, this is our special tactic!"

"Moreover, it was improved by one of the team members!"

Looking at Takeda's somewhat proud smile beside him, the corners of Keishin's mouth twitched.

"Oh, then I'm going to take a closer look!"

He turned his gaze to the field with interest.

Snap!

Facing the serve that came straight at him, Akira did not blink an eye. He easily picked it up and passed it to Kageyama in the front row.

"Not bad. The ball-handling skills are solid; he's worked hard!"

"I don't expect this from a first-year..."

Coach Keishin's eyes lit up.

"Next, look at the front row..."

Kageyama, as a setter, calmly observed the defense of the opponent. Finally, he sent a back pass, leading to Tanaka's direct fast-attack smash for a score!

"Not bad! Look at their cooperation!" Coach Keishin said with some excitement.

"Haha! It's nothing! Stronger plays are yet to come!"

Hearing his praise, Takeda on the side felt a sense of pride.

"The high school boys are very strong, and our neighbourhood team can't lose to you!"

"Everyone, come on!"

---

As the two sides continued to score and lose points, Akira gradually rotated to the front row... The position of the main Spiker.

At this time, Nishinoya on the opposite side lit up.

"Let me try your Spikes! Is it really as strong as they say?"

"Keep an eye on him! Akira's Spikes are difficult to defend!"

Sweat formed on Sugawara's forehead as he stood on the other side of the net.

In the past, when watching from the sidelines, it hadn't seemed like much.

But standing on the court, facing Akira as an opponent, the memory of his powerful Spikes brought inexplicable pressure to Sugawara!

"A high school student who is very good at Spikes —don't cry when you're stopped by your uncle!"

Two players from the Karasuno Neighbourhood Team, standing in the front row with Sugawara, joked.

Meanwhile, Keishin outside the field turned to Takeda and asked, "Is this the super-strong Wing Spiker you mentioned before?"

Takeda said with emotion, "That's right, and he's not just a strong person!"

"In the battle against Aoba Johsai, we were able to win 2-0, largely because of Akira."

After hearing Takeda's words, Keishin turned to look inside the field. His curious eyes focused on Akira, who was ready to attack.

"Is he really... this strong?"

"Just let me wait and see!"

😮‍💨

---

The uncle from the Karasuno Neighbourhood Team sent a powerful serve.

However, it was quickly followed by Tanaka in the rear. Kageyama instinctively passed the ball directly to Akira's position.

This action was entirely subconscious—a desire to score ingrained after the match against Aoba Johsai.

In that game, as long as the ball was passed to Akira's side, points were almost guaranteed.

Over time, Kageyama developed an instinctive trust and reliance on him.

Thus, when Akira rotated to the front row, Kageyama subconsciously sent the first ball to him, even though he saw out of the corner of his eye that the opponent's blockers were focusing on that side.

Here it comes!

This thought echoed in the minds of those who had witnessed Akira's Spiking power before.

"Wow! Kageyama passed such a high ball!" Coach Keishin began to comment, but his words came to an abrupt halt.

"This... This..."

The three blockers on the opposing side simultaneously gaped in shock.

Typically, blockers face their opponents at eye level. However, as they attempted to block Akira, they found themselves looking upwards at him!

How can anyone block this kind of player?

Bang!

The unmistakable sound of the ball hitting the floor reverberated through the gym.

"Just now... How high did he jump?"

This question echoed among the onlookers.

Nishinoya, Asahi, and Sugawara, who had never seen Akira's Spiking ability up close, were utterly stunned.

Yet, even for those who had previously witnessed his power, like Coach Keishin, the shock was no less intense.

"How does it feel like..." Sugawara muttered.

"This guy is jumping even higher now?"

"Is it our imagination?"

It had only been a short time since the match against Aoba Johsai, yet Akira seemed to have visibly improved.

Kageyama, standing nearby, gritted his teeth and thought to himself, I can't lose to you...

"Wow! That Spike just now! What's going on?" Coach Keishin shouted from the sidelines.

"Do you have springs on your shoes?"

Akira smiled modestly and replied, "Haha, I'm just jumping a little higher. Nothing special."

"Slightly? You call that slightly?" everyone silently retorted.

If this was "slight," then what were they?

"Ahem, the game continues. Keep fighting!" Coach Keishin ordered, feigning calmness.

However, the moment he turned away, he grabbed Takeda by the collar and gritted his teeth. "Hey, what the heck is going on? Why didn't you tell me this in advance?"

Takeda, flustered, struggled as he replied, "Calm down, Coach Keishin! What do you mean?"

"Don't play dumb! Why is the current Karasuno team so strong?"

"The kind of super-fast attack that the little player and setter just pulled off—it's impossible to react to it!"

"And what's with this guy?" Keishin pointed at Akira. "I thought he was just a solid defensive player based on his receives. But that Spike just now... That height... He's not even a high schooler anymore!"

"Did you invite some kind of foreign pro as a stand-in?"

Takeda finally adjusted his collar and responded proudly, "Oh, you mean Akira!"

"Yes! And I already told you, didn't I? Akira-kun is a strong all-rounder!"

"In our training match against Aoba Johsai, he completely dominated their players. Eventually, they gave up trying to block him altogether."

"What?" Keishin looked back at the court in disbelief.

"Yeah, instead of blocking, they retreated to the back and had all six players try to defend against his spike!"

Keishin was speechless as he stared at the invincible figure on the court. Every Spike Akira delivered was at a height unreachable by the opposing blockers.

"No wonder the Aoba Johsai coach told them to fall back instead of blocking him. If I were coaching, I'd make the same call."

While Keishin and Takeda discussed Akira's prowess, the players on the Karasuno Neighbourhood Team were growing increasingly tense.

"How the hell do you stop that smash? It's impossible!"

"Since when does Karasuno have such a strong Spiker?"

"Ah? I already told you, but you didn't believe me!" Nishinoya teased.

"Who would've thought a high schooler could be this strong?"

Initially, the neighbourhood team had approached the practice match lightheartedly.

Many of them were former Karasuno volleyball players who had graduated and moved on with their lives.

Despite entering society, their love for volleyball never faded, leading to the formation of the Karasuno Neighbourhood Team under Coach Ukai's guidance.

They had accepted the invitation to this practice match with a sense of nostalgia.

But after seeing the current Karasuno team's strength, their competitive spirits ignited.

"This Karasuno team is worth our respect!"

"Hey, focus up!" one uncle shouted.

"And you!" he pointed at Asahi, who had been distracted. "Stop spacing out and get in the game!"

Asahi laughed sheepishly.

"So this is the super-powerful Spiker they talked about—Akira?" he thought, clenching his fists.

"If you're this strong, then I'll have to step up too. I won't let myself be outdone by the q first-year !"
