Harry Potter: The Wizard of Apocalypse

Chapter 63: Chapter 63: Alchemy Tools

After Malfoy and the others walked away, Ian looked at the Black Lake in front of him and suddenly said, "This is a good place for fishing."

After hearing this, Hermione also stared at the lake and suddenly said with some curiosity:

"Fishing? I always thought it was a hobby for middle-aged men. My father likes fishing very much. But I heard Neville say that there is actually a giant squid hidden in the Black Lake. I don't know if it's true. Anyway, I have never seen it."

"Of course it's true. It is said that this giant squid is Gryffindor, one of the four founders, and the squid is his Animagus form. When he was old, he chose to become a squid and live in the Black Lake to protect Hogwarts, and he has been doing so until now."

Ian also explained to Hermione in an exclamatory tone, but he really didn't know whether this squid was Gryffindor himself. It was just discussed by some people in the previous life and then it became a convention.

"It must be fake. It's been more than a thousand years since now... How can a squid live that long?" Hermione was obviously frightened and said in disbelief.

Seeing the girl in front of him showing such a surprised and cute expression, Ian couldn't help but want to rub her little head. Fortunately, he still had some rationality and restrained himself at the last moment.

"Hahaha, is truth or falsehood so important? Besides, magic is about creating miracles. For example, Hermione, before you received the acceptance letter from Hogwarts, if a classmate suddenly told you about magic, would you have believed it?"

Because Ian didn't know whether the squid's statement was correct, he didn't give Hermione a direct answer. Instead, he cleverly avoided the question and let her find the answer herself.

"That's true... Magic creates miracles. Ian, I like this saying."

Sure enough, Hermione seemed to have the answer at this moment and stopped asking.

Hermione gently pulled up her long hair and smoothed the strands of hair that were blown around her ears by the cool breeze. The inadvertent seductiveness she showed always made Ian sigh that girls in Europe and America really develop very quickly.

"Huh? Mutton-fat jade?" Ian took a quick glance and suddenly discovered that Hermione was wearing a gold and jade necklace with an oriental style.

Perhaps because he was afraid that Hermione wouldn't understand this word, Ian could only use another word to express it: "Is there such a gem sold in London? I don't remember you wearing this necklace last time."

Suddenly, Hermione blushed and said shyly: "This belongs to my roommates. They insisted that I wear it... They thought I was going out on a date today..."

The voice became quieter and quieter, until the last few words were so faint that even someone as perceptive as Ian couldn't make them out.

Fortunately, Ian heard the previous content clearly. He felt a little uncomfortable after hearing it. It was not for any other reason, but it was probably like his daughter not having a new Barbie doll and having to borrow her classmate's doll to play with.

"Hermione, consider this an early Christmas present for you."

As Ian spoke, he reached for his collar and took out the alchemical tool that Dumbledore had once given him—an obsidian pendant carved into the shape of a wolf's tooth.

"This... is very precious, right?" Hermione was a little overwhelmed by Ian's sudden action. Although she didn't know much about the prices of gemstone jewelry, she still knew basic common sense.

She was really amazed by the dazzling obsidian necklace in front of her, which was engraved with many ancient runes and radiated brilliant light. Not to mention that the necklace was also filled with magical aura. When she touched it up close, she always felt at ease, so it went without saying that it must be worth a lot of money.

"Take it. This is something Dumbledore once gave me, but I want to give it to you now. No matter how valuable an item is, it is not as precious as a person."

Ian's original intention in saying this was to tell the other party that the purpose of defensive alchemical items was to protect lives, but it was obvious that Hermione seemed to have misunderstood something.

"Well... okay then! I'll give you a return gift at Christmas." Sure enough, after hearing what Ian said just now, Hermione suddenly stopped refusing. With slightly blushing cheeks, she took the pendant and put it on immediately.

Ian found that Hermione didn't seem to realize that this was an alchemical item, so he could only say again:

"This is actually an alchemical item. When attacked, it will automatically release a Protego charm. You know this spell, right? It can help you avoid most of the damage. I didn't want to tell you this because I was afraid that you would take risks with it."

Ian paused deliberately at this point and then continued: "I never underestimate the adventurous spirit of any Gryffindor, but I still don't want to hide anything from you, so promise me not to take any risks."

In fact, Ian did not give this pendant on impulse. Halloween was approaching. Although Dumbledore had made plans, he had to be prepared for the worst. Otherwise, Ian would regret it. The troll was not a creature that valued appearance—Hermione's cuteness was of no use to it.

Moreover, with his current strength, these alchemical items were really useless to him. If he encountered something he couldn't handle, even one more item would be useless.

Of course, the most important thing was that Dumbledore originally gave him two items capable of casting Protego: a ring and a pendant.

Ian only planned to keep one to deal with emergencies. To put it bluntly, he was mainly on guard against Muggle firearms.

With such an instant defensive item, he could buy himself time and not be caught off guard. As for wizards? Ian was not worried at all. His strength after the second magical awakening was not something that ordinary people could challenge.

"Well, thank you, Ian. Don't worry, I won't take any risks, and I will always wear the necklace..." At this moment, Hermione looked at Ian with her unique brown eyes and spoke in an unusually affirmative tone.

At the same time, Hermione carefully tucked the necklace into her collar and gently pressed it with her little hand, as if it would disappear if she wasn't careful.
