Heartstrings And Espionages

Chapter 80: Wedding Invitation

Ah… My whole body aches. Did I do any hard work last night?

I opened my eyes, clearing all the fog lights over my eyesight. I saw nothing but a beautiful ceiling with wall crystal hanging and a cool AC in the middle. The temperature of the room was super chilly. I was barely able to stand up and when I did, my forehead was wrinkled.

Wait… why does this room seem so similar?

"Hey, I'm getting in." A voice rose and then the door opened. A lady standing there with a tray of food.

"Mirai?"

Hearing her name, she stood there still and looked at me with a raised eyebrow that left me with a sharp chill in my spin yet a query escaped from my mouth.

"What are you doing here, Mirai? Wasn't I supposed to be in Tangwen's room?"

"What are you babbling, Moon? I guess you aren't sober yet."

"I'm sober! I was with Tangwen last night, so how did I end up there?"

"Are you nuts? You were with Sarah last night. She was the one who brought you here, otherwise you would be on roads, sleeping with mosquitos!"

What the hell?

"Eat this now! And come downstairs after you freshen up."

"...hm."

What the freak?! What's this all for? Aah, I don't understand. So the thing is, the figure I imagined as Tangwen was actually Sarah. Then why didn't she correct me when I addressed her Tangwen. Now I understand why she suddenly paused when I named her Tangwen at first. Knowing everything, she just pretended to be Tangwen 'cause I won't allow her to stay around me being Sarah, huh! This woman…. Shit!

"Sarah?"

"Moon?"

We both were facing each other with no expressions. I took a glance at Mirai.

"What's happening between you both?" She then made eye contact with mine and narrowed her brows seeing mine.

"Are you going to speak, Moon?"

"Why do you expect that from me, Mirai? Ask her. She has answers for all of your questions, even my questions." I said, glaring at her. In reflection, she just looked at me with her sharp, deep piercing sight.

"Answer, Sarah. What happened yesterday?" Mirai said, taking a chair. Ahem! Weather seemed to be painted dark today! Did I boil her brain in high temperature? Mirai often seems this tempered but today is a different day, huh?

"I proposed, Moon. I told her to forget about her lover, Tangwen and love me instead." Sarah said, taking a sip of her coffee and passed a straight eye to mine. I just sat my face away and placed myself in another chair opposite to both of them.

"And?" Mirai asked.

"She rejected the deal. She said there's no way she will ever replace Tangwen with anyone." Sarah added, yet looking at me without blinking. What's her matter?

"So?" Mirai enquired.

"So, I followed her and reached a tavern. I only went there to help her but she addressed me to Tangwen instead of Sarah." Sarah said with a sigh.

"Then?" Mirai said, sipping her bubble tea.

"Then… I let her see me as Tangwen. By that I can at least stay around her. I was just a little greedy. For a moment, I desire her to call my name as sweetly as she calls her lover's name."

Sarah kept a full stop to her story and stood up to leave.

Before she could even take a step a voice rose in the background. "So you actually came here for Moon, not for some kind of new journey you used to mention before, huh? If this was supposed to happen, I would have rejected Moon from coming here."

We both were left with chills but she suddenly paused and gave a death glare to both of us, saying, "Moon will never love you, Sarah. Remember this, Moon. And there's an invitation delivered on your name this morning, Moon. Take it."

"Ah – yeah, coming." She gave her judgement so simply. Without knowing the real motive of Sarah coming here by herself. She understood everything about Sarah just by a few lines from yesterday. Man, maybe, this is why she's said to be a "wise lady" by neighbours.

Sigh… I don't know why but I feel so tired all of a sudden. This drama was too much for me. My morning was so dramatic, Man!

"Mirai, why do you have to act that way?"

"I don't think it's any use asking or knowing about my behaviour right now, right, Moon? Just take the letter and let's mind self businesses."

She's more rude than I could ever imagine. "Right. Thank you for taking the Letter on behalf of me."

"I didn't ask for that, Moon. You should leave now."

"Yeah. I'll be leaving."

I closed the door and dropped myself against the door. Every moment with her was so stressful and unbearable. Her sharp eyes and piercing rudeness suffocated me in a minute. Sigh…. Why is she this way?

I slid a glance at the invitation and dropped it. "Moon?"

"Sarah?" I didn't expect her to. "What longed for you here, Moon?" She questioned, glancing at the envelope in my hand. Those eyes… I don't adore them anymore. I clenched the envelope and said,

"It's none of your business, I suppose, Sarah." I opposed her and directly sided myself from the further argument. It makes my blood creep out of my soul. Worse!

Facing her everyday is the worst part of my life. Looking at those eyes gives me a disgusted sensation. My physique mismatches my steps and sometimes reluctantly I bump into her. The temperature inside me boils, thinking about how she told me to take off from Tangwen. Haiz! This is really not what I came here for. Not really!

I shoved the envelope on the table and walked through my wardrobe just to disappear with my clothes into the lavatory. "Sigh…" Seems like the smell of vengeance wiped out of my body. No matter how I turn down her thoughts she still haunts me like a ghost in my head. That disgusts me!

"Is it really possible to remove her from my mind while staying with her?"

I wore my bathrobe and walked out scrubbing my hair. Water droplets slide onto my eyes, making me rub them off. "Bad news for you, Mrs. Handsome." Huh?

Sarah? I said nothing but walked to her, snatched the envelope from her hands. Manners, Sarah! You aren't supposed to touch others things without their permission! "Isn't this Tangwen's and Leen Hakong's wedding invitation? Were you awa–"

What? ….WHAT!? THEIR WEDDING?! "I was aware of it. You better keep your shadow out of my things. Now, vamoose!" That's a straight lie. I wasn't aware of it. If I was, I wouldn't be in this good position. I… can't accept this. …Their wedding! I can't approve of it! What…what are you trying to say to me, Tangwen Alfie?

"Fine, I'll leave but that doesn't make sense, Moon. How can you know without opening the envelope?"

"That's none of your business. You better limit yourself, Sarah." She gave me a death stare and banged the door onto my face. …Hah! I couldn't stay still – collapsed against the spirit. The envelope… I tore it badly and looked at the invitation, glittering with… Tangwen and Leen Hakong's picture. What's wrong with you, Tangwen?

This wasn't in your plan! Wedding to that bastard, Leen Hakong! You were aware of his mother and his family yet you stood up for a wrong path. If this was in your fate, I would have guided you to the right path but if this is your decision, I have nothing left to oppose you with. It's like you're welcoming your own problem. Is she nuts, huh? I don't understand!

I…need to go. I need to find her out! "Moon, can we talk – Moon! Where are you going?! Moon, wait! I said wait, Moon!" For a moment, I halted and looked fiercely at…

"Mirai. Don't try to get in my way. I will tear you wholly." I said hoarsely and walked away.

I never drove this badly… never and ever. That invitation was still highlighted in my car. And the wedding was… Today. How did she even find my current location? That means, she was aware that I am in Chiang Mai? Ah, damn!

I screened my car in front of the entrance and walked inside with my hands into the pockets. "Ma'am, invitation card, please." Invitation card? I dragged the envelope and looked through. Ha, there you go, invitation card.

"Here. Can I go now?"

"Y-Yes, M-Ma'am."

My eyes aren't that horrible to stutter, man. I glanced at him and walked in. So this is where she decided to have her wedding. Huh? There's only a few people. Isn't this time for the wedding ceremony yet? Sigh… I should've read the invitation first. Let's read then.

Mm-hm. So the wedding is at 6 O'clock and now… it's only been 4:30 PM. 1 hr 30 minutes to go, huh?

"...Moon?"

Huh? You… I could never imagine that face. My eyes softened and I could only open an invisible slight smile. Oh, that face is beautiful, glittering like a star. I missed that. Man, her eyes, they are no longer yearning to hurt me being cold-blooded. I adore those eyes now. I…

I don't wanna leave early. "I… I just…"

"You shouldn't be here, Moon. I didn't invite you." I wish I heard all of those words are just false.

"What's wrong with you?! What do you mean by "you shouldn't be here"?! If not you, who else will invite me?"

"Nothing's wrong with me, Moon. You just le–"

"What happened, sweetheart? Did you see any traitors?" A voice similar, rose in the background like a firework and suddenly wiped out when we met eyes. The vengeance in me boiled harder and before I could touch him, everything turned into ash.

That…was just an assumption. I suppose. "Oh, see who's here. Moon Fowler, huh?"

"Leen Ha-Kong? What a pleasant surprise!"

He came up with a smirk while making steps toward me. Bend, lowered his voice and reached to my ears. Whispered, "I'm gonna show you, who owns the real role, Moon Fowler."

That's an asshole's assumption! As he was done with his words and gonna back off, I immediately pulled his collar downing his face to mine.

"I'm the one-and-only main lead, Leen Ha-Kong."

He raised up with a smirk and walked back to his undated lady. I just stared at the mismatched couple. Not even heaven could ever write your names in destiny. Goddammit!

"Sweetheart, your Ex also needs to see how rich our wedding is going to be, isn't it?" That smirk on his face sparkled like an idiot. That pops my nerves out. Screw!

He suddenly turned to his unloved bride. Eyes softened. He lent his hand towards her chin and now her whole attention was only on his lips. Is he gonna kiss…? My heart got harder and I clenched my fist.

"What are you trying to do with her, Leen Ha-Kong?"

"What else can a couple do than kissing in public." You, hooligan! I looked at Tangwen and she was in awe, gazing at Leen Ha-Kong. She wasn't expecting this from him either, right?

"Tangwen. Honey. What are you people doing here? You should –" Harper…? She abruptly stopped uttering when she discovered me. With a stern face, we met our eyes. She raised her brow in amaze and uttered,

"What a surprise, Moon Fowler! Didn't expect to see you this early. Right, Honey?" She and her son gave a damn disgusting smirk to each other and then pointed themselves toward me. How disgusting! Never thought of meeting her again after that party.

"Right, Mom. People who don't know the taste of richness have an early attempt to have food in such weddings like ours, isn't it, Baby. Such cheap thoughts!" I wish I could tell them what I own! But I'm not here to show-off my background or wealth or any will. I only wanna realise Tangwen what mistake she's making in her life. Her entire fate was not destined to him! She needs to know that first. Just thinking about the thought that they are going to wed – I couldn't bear it at all!

Calm…

Calm down…, Moon.

"Cheap thoughts like yours, Leen Ha-Kong. You and your Mom just live on your used-father's property 'cause you people have nothing to name on yourselves. That's what "cheap" means, Leen Ha-Kong and Harper." I exclaimed sarcastically.

"Moon Fowler! Mind your tongue! Who do you think you are talking about?! He's not my used-father! And give respect to my parents! Remember, you're at my place." He burst out but I unexpectedly burst out in laughter.

And the only voice echoing in that 4 pillared room is my voice. The laughter. I stopped and first looked at Tangwen, who was having a long face. "What's wrong, Tangwen? I won't be mad at you for not supporting me. I know the pressure being beneath these monsters." I uttered and looked at those hooligans' faces.

They were furious, filled with vengeance in their eyes. Gripping their wrath in their fists. I smirked looking at Leen Ha-Kong and said, "What do I say to a woman's husband who was already married to a woman and even had a child? Doesn't that mean you're his second wife, Harper and he's damn used one too. How cheap!" I said and chuckled.

Before they really burst out into pieces, I immediately held Tangwen's hand and ran away to the wedding garden. 'cause I need to talk to her. I'm serious. She needs to hear me first!

"Moon, what do you think you're doing? This isn't right –"

"You don't speak for them, Tangwen. I'm here to save you. The thing which isn't right is your decision. I know this isn't your sole decision. I'm sure Harper and Dillon are also part of it. If this is true, speak to me about it. I'm gonna stop this right away. Do you?" I exclaimed.

But she said nothing. She just bit her lips and decreased her head toward the ground. Should I take it as yes to all my questions? Haiz!

"Moon." She called in a low tone and looked at me with those eyes – once she used over me to turn my decisions on myself. No, not gonna fall for your tricks anymore!

"Y-Yes? What is it?" I stammered. She walked towards me seductively and reached me already. I… What am I even hesitating for? I've been with her for years yet not get used to her sudden actions that take me to grave! How do you even want me to get used to those?!

I held my head way back when she came too close to me. Th-The tension between us, kills me. "Did I make you breathless, Idol?" She changed her tune! That gives me goosebumps!

"I…I really…don't think that." The hell! Why am I stammering?! And blushing too?! The hell is wrong with me?! I doubt there's a bug in me that made a futile attempt resulting in me to tilt onto Tangwen. Shh! That was a horrible move!

"Ok. This isn't that worse than I thought." She said, gazing into my eyes. Mesmerising!

"Moon, I know what intentions you're here with but… I already accepted the fact that we can never get back to old memories. We can't even cosplay it. Let's leave –" Listening to her words it didn't feel more than piercing in my heart. For a moment, I just wanna pause the world and correct Tangwen's phrases 'cause as a lover, I don't wanna give up on my love just like that. It's unbearable! Never gonna listen to her words!

I immediately stood up. Her words… they no longer show any concern towards me. That makes… blue.

"I can't leave behind and walk away, Tangwen. I know I'm pretty late in loving you but when I fell – I fell harder for you. I've goals with you and you want me to leave? It's not easy to move on and begin a new life. All our memories will haunt me forever… Yet, knowing that I have to hear these words from you – I chose to come. Just to change your mind and take you away with me. We can do a lot together. You don't have to survive in that atmosphere, Tangwen. Try to understand what I want to say."

Tangwen got up but I couldn't make eye contact with her. Maybe I'm anxious. I saw her hands moving forward to my face and cupped it. So cold, freezing me up. She lifted my head up and I saw her… smiling. But why are your eyes wet, Tangwen? I gradually decreased my eyelids but she suddenly said,

"Dummy." And she chuckled, leaving me wholly a blank page. "Huh?" I exclaimed. She looked at me with a smile and let her thumb caress my cheek.

"You thought it could be easier for me to just move on. I'm the first to fall for you, Moon. I had gone through all up and down yet I stayed strong as I always hoped that one day you'll surely love me back but… I might be gone by then. Now, I blame myself for thinking like that 'cause it's coming true. When you start loving me – I'm getting into someone's hands."

"Could you just not go, Tangwen…?"

"I'm sorry, Moon."
