Chapter 11: ch-11:Wilderness Trial
The scorching sun blazed in the sky, casting a bright light through the glass windows onto the expansive training ground. Yogan sat quietly in the corner, his dark eyes focused on the martial arts magnetic card in his hand.
As he gently exhaled, a faint breath flowed into his palm, causing the surface of the card to flicker. A flood of information surged into his mind.
He closed his eyes tightly, processing the details of the martial art, "Palm Seal."
Nearby, a middle-aged man led a group of students in actual combat training. Yogan glanced at them briefly but quickly lost interest. Instead, he found an empty room and began practicing alone.
Taking a deep breath, he pressed his palms together, drawing in the blood and energy of the heavens and earth. As his mind focused, the energy gathered in his palms.
The light around his hands flickered, and a trace of scarlet blood began to form. However, as the energy continued to merge with the blood and air, the scarlet color slowly faded, replaced by a red and white light seal.
Crack!
The light seal trembled, and Yogan's focus sharpened. He realized it was fragile and could break if he wasn't careful.
But then, something unusual happened.
A strange light spot deep within his palm shifted. Suddenly, a powerful energy from the heavens and earth began to seep out from the light spot, quickly stabilizing the seal that was on the verge of shattering.
Under Yogan's astonished gaze, the seal condensed and stabilized rapidly, with complex patterns forming within the palm. At the same time, violent and fiery fluctuations radiated from it.
Yogan's eyes narrowed as he observed the developing seal, his mind focused.
This kind of fluctuation...
"If I use this against a mutant pigman, a single strike might turn it to ashes..."
He couldn't help but marvel at the power. He continued to work with the technique, his hands steady.
Buzz!
A faint buzzing sound resonated as the energy within the light spot weakened, and the red and white light began to coalesce. Eventually, it solidified into a shallow mark on his palm.
"It's done...!" Yogan muttered in satisfaction.
But just as he thought he had succeeded, the red and white mark on his palm suddenly flared up. The energy of the heavens and earth surrounding him became violent, as if a beast had been unleashed.
Yogan's brow furrowed. This was unexpected; the magnetic card had not warned him about such a sudden change.
Boom!
The energy surged like a tidal wave, pushing against his palm. Yogan gritted his teeth and activated his own blood and qi to resist, struggling to suppress the overwhelming force.
For ten long minutes, he fought to keep control. Finally, the violent fluctuations began to subside.
"How can a first-level martial art be this domineering...?" Yogan gasped, his body exhausted but gradually returning to a more stable state.
He recalled the Flame Explosion Fist that Mitchell had used against him before. The power of that attack seemed minuscule compared to this palm technique.
"As a first-level martial art, the gap is so huge?" Yogan marveled, looking at the mark on his palm in awe.
But he was not disappointed; on the contrary, he was thrilled. The more powerful the technique, the more it suited his desires.
"Wait a minute..." Yogan opened his system panel to check his progress.
To his surprise, he found:
[Martial Arts: Cellular Respiration (13%)]
[Palm Yin and Yang (10%)]
"Palm Yin and Yang?!" Yogan's eyes widened.
He quickly clicked on the annotation for the "Palm Yin and Yang" martial art.
A chill ran through him as he read the description.
[Palm Yin and Yang]: Third-level martial arts. Yang seal, Yin seal, Yin and Yang combination...
Yogan was stunned. "It's actually a third-level martial art...?" he muttered in disbelief. The name and level had changed! No wonder the power had seemed far beyond a first-level martial art.
"Could this be the effect of that light spot?" Yogan wondered, deep in thought. "Could the light spot formed by the cellular respiration method have improved the grade of this martial art?"
He paused for a moment, unsure. The idea seemed too strange to believe, but it made sense.
Suppressing his curiosity, Yogan reminded himself to keep this secret. If others found out, they might try to study him.
Fortunately, his genius status provided a reasonable cover. It would make sense for his martial arts to be more powerful than expected.

Two days passed in the blink of an eye.
The bonfire crackled in the night air, casting warm flames that illuminated Wang Lili's delicate figure, highlighting her elegant curves.
"Teacher, why are you here with me for the trial?" Yogan asked, his voice calm as he stared at her from across the fire.
"I'm your class teacher, so it's only natural that I protect your safety," Wang Lili replied with a smile, her expression lighting up as she spoke. The other young men nearby couldn't help but glance at her in admiration.
Lara, sitting to the side, rolled her eyes and subtly glared at Yogan, clearly displeased.
"The wilderness area is a haven for evil warriors and low-level beasts. If you encounter an overwhelming threat, remember to contact me immediately. You're still a boy, so be sure to take care of yourself when you're out there," Wang Lili continued, her voice serious yet gentle.
Her words made Chen Quan, who had been quietly sitting nearby, blush. He had been a little too focused on her beauty, and the tension in the air was palpable.
"Got it," Yogan replied, nodding. Despite the dangers of the wilderness, he knew it would be far easier than the challenges he had faced in the Qianlong training camp. After all, this was a real alien battlefield.
"Although the three of you are the strongest students in Linhai City, don't underestimate the competition from other cities. They'll have talented students of their own," Wang Lili warned, her voice filled with concern.
Before she could continue, a middle-aged man at the center of the campfire called for everyone's attention.
"This trial will be based on the number of ferocious beasts hunted, and that will determine the final assessment. However, fighting between students is allowed, so be prepared for that," he explained.
"The evil warriors are everywhere. They are an important part of your growth, and you must learn how to adapt to them."
He paused, his eyes sweeping across the gathered students. "In the future, you may find yourselves on the front lines of an alien battlefield, where the dangers are a thousand times worse than here. In front of true battlefield veterans, the evil warriors are nothing more than ants."
The man's voice echoed, his words heavy with meaning.
"With that, the trial begins!" he announced, signaling the start of their mission.
