They parted the leaves to peer through. In the shadowy clearing, Snape was standing there.

But he wasn't alone—Quirrell, with his signature turban, stood opposite him, stammering nervously:

### Quirrell

"I… I don't understand why… why you chose this place to meet, Severus…"

### Snape

"I thought it best to keep this private,"

Snape's voice was cold and sharp.

"After all, students shouldn't know about the Philosopher's Stone."

Quirrell mumbled something under his breath, but Snape immediately cut him off.

### Snape

"Have you figured out how to get past Hagrid's beast?"

### Quirrell

"B-but… but… but Severus, I…"

### Snape

"You wouldn't want me as your enemy, Quirrell."

Snape stepped closer, his tone menacing.

### Quirrell

"I… I… I don't know what you…"

### Snape

"You know exactly what I mean."

An owl hooted loudly, startling all four eavesdroppers.

They steadied themselves just in time to hear Snape say:

### Snape

"…Your little tricks—I'll be waiting. Once you've decided where your loyalties lie, we'll have another talk."

Snape pulled his cloak over his head and strode out of the clearing, leaving Quirrell standing there, frozen in place.

---

By the time they returned to their little potions base, the sky was completely dark.

They exchanged glances, the silence between them heavy, until Harry finally broke it.

### Harry

"It looks like we were right—Snape wants the Philosopher's Stone. He mentioned Quirrell's 'little tricks.' Maybe there are other safeguards for the Stone besides Fluffy. Quirrell might've set up some anti-Dark Arts spells, and Snape's trying to break through them…"

### Hermione

"You mean… Quirrell and the Stone are both in danger?"

Hermione asked, her voice filled with concern.

### Ollie

"I don't think we should jump to conclusions. Why couldn't it be Quirrell who wants the Stone, and Snape warning him off?"

Ollie tried to reason with them.

### Ron

"Wake up, Ollie! You saw it with your own eyes—Snape was threatening Quirrell!"

Ron snapped, his voice harsh.

### Harry

"You can't lose your judgment just because you spend time with Snape every week."

Harry's tone was equally critical.

"Recently, you've been defending Snape at every turn and ignoring all the evidence."

### Ollie

"But what I'm saying makes sense, doesn't it? If you'd just think about it…"

Ollie argued weakly.

### Hermione

"Ollie, it's obvious—Quirrell is the one being threatened. And Snape… I can't think of a single reason to trust him."

Hermione sighed, her frustration evident.

### Ollie

"Maybe Quirrell looks weak, but being weak doesn't mean he's innocent. Weak people can do bad things too…"

### Ron

"Listen to yourself!"

Ron shouted, his face red with anger.

"'Weak people don't deserve sympathy'? You've been spending so much time in that old bat's dungeon, he's turned you into a Slytherin!"

Harry turned abruptly and pushed open the classroom door, storming out. Ron followed close behind.

Hermione hesitated, glancing back at Ollie, but eventually left as well.

No one wanted to hear Ollie defend Snape anymore.

Ollie took a deep breath and leaned against the wall. From now on, it seemed she was on her own.

---

In the following weeks, Harry began giving Quirrell encouraging looks whenever he passed him in the corridors. Even Ron started telling others not to mock Quirrell's stammer.

Occasionally, the three of them would run into Ollie, but they would only nod in acknowledgment and no longer spoke to her.

Snape became increasingly irritable, spending less and less time in his office. He even canceled Ollie's potion-processing tasks for two weeks in a row.

With only a few weeks left until the end-of-year exams, Ollie was swamped with classes, homework, revision, and brewing potions. On top of that, she had to find time to sort through the current situation. She meticulously listed everything she remembered from the first book's plot on parchment, highlighting the key points before burning them repeatedly.

The saying "a good memory is no match for a bad pen" couldn't have been more accurate.

Now, Ollie had outlined the main events for the rest of the school year:

- Hagrid acquires a dragon egg and hatches a baby dragon, Norbert. Charlie will take it away.

- Malfoy discovers this and informs Professor McGonagall.

- Gryffindor loses a significant number of House points, making Harry the target of everyone's anger—even Hermione and Ron become unpopular.

- The trio and Malfoy are punished with a detention in the Forbidden Forest, where they discover a wounded unicorn and encounter a centaur.

- After that, it will be time for them to face the challenges protecting the Philosopher's Stone…

What an eventful few weeks it was going to be. Ollie felt her scalp tingle just thinking about it.
