### Ron
"When has he ever refereed a Quidditch match? If we have a chance of beating Slytherin, he definitely won't call it fairly!"
Ron immediately shouted loudly.
### Ollie
"Ron!"
Ollie gave him a disapproving glance, then added,
"If we all follow the rules, he won't have an excuse to deliberately cause trouble, right?"
### Ron
"He's Snape! Why are you always defending him?"
Ron looked at Ollie as if he didn't recognize her.
### Hermione
"Maybe Harry should just skip this match," Hermione suggested.
### Ron
"How about you pretend to break your leg?" Ron said.
### Harry
"But we don't have a backup Seeker on the team. If I quit, Gryffindor won't be able to play."
Harry sighed.
Ollie really wanted to tell them that Snape wouldn't harm Harry. But would he really referee the match fairly? Ollie wasn't entirely sure herself.
Recently, Harry and the others had grown increasingly prejudiced against Snape, as if he had it out for Harry. No matter where Harry went, he always seemed to run into Snape. Sometimes, Harry even suspected Snape was following him!
Of course, Ollie knew Snape was protecting Harry—or rather, watching over him. But she had no evidence to convince Harry and the others.
Even their weekly Potions class had become more torturous.
Ollie was being criticized and mocked less often because her potions were improving. But this only meant that Snape directed more of his attacks toward Harry.
By comparison, the timid Professor Quirrell seemed utterly weak, so much so that the tiny seeds of doubt Ollie had painstakingly planted in their minds were completely forgotten.
When the day of the match arrived, nearly all of Gryffindor was worried sick because Snape was refereeing. Hermione and Ron had even hidden their wands inside their robes, silently practicing the Leg-Locker Curse, ready to assist Harry if he was in danger.
### Hermione
"Remember, don't forget—it's 'Locomotor Mortis,'" Hermione whispered to Ron.
### Ron
"I know, stop nagging," Ron replied impatiently.
### Ollie
"Dumbledore's here!"
Ollie, who had been scanning the stands with her binoculars, pointed to the front row of the audience.
"Now we don't have to worry. At least no one would dare harm Harry in front of him."
### Ron
"That's great!"
Ron instantly looked relieved.
"Now Snape won't dare do anything. Look how sour his face is!"
Ollie wanted to say something, but in the end, she kept quiet.
Harry didn't encounter any danger, as everything went even more smoothly than expected.
The game had barely started—only five minutes in, and before anyone had even gotten into the rhythm, Harry caught the Golden Snitch! He broke the Hogwarts record!
All of Gryffindor leapt from their seats, screaming and hugging each other in excitement over Harry's brilliant performance. Hermione hugged Ron and Ollie tightly, nearly squeezing the breath out of Ollie.
From a distance, through the gaps in the crowd, Ollie saw Dumbledore smiling as he patted Harry on the shoulder. Fred and George quickly ran over and hoisted Harry onto Wood's shoulders.
As everyone jostled their way to the Great Hall for dinner, Ron was still recounting Harry's spectacular capture of the Snitch:
### Ron
"Harry shot toward the ground like a bullet! I swear, when he caught the Snitch, he was only inches from the ground!"
### Hermione
"Wait, look—what's going on with that person?"
Hermione tugged on Ron's sleeve, pointing toward a figure moving away from the crowd.
A hooded figure was quickly descending the steps of the castle's side entrance, heading straight for the Forbidden Forest.
### Ron
"That's Snape!"
Ron squinted and recognized him immediately.
"What's he sneaking off to the Forbidden Forest for during dinner?"
### Hermione
"Maybe we should go take a look," Hermione suggested.
### Ron
"Ollie, are you coming?"
Ron deliberately asked Ollie, still feeling that her stance on Snape was shaky due to her frequent defenses of him.
### Ollie
"Let's go."
Ollie followed them as they slipped out of the crowd, heading in the direction where Snape had disappeared.
The Forbidden Forest was dense. They crept after Snape, trying hard not to be noticed while also fearing they might lose him, making their progress extremely difficult. Before long, Harry arrived as well, silently landing on a nearby beech tree with his broomstick.
### Harry
"What are you guys doing here?"
Harry's voice was barely above a whisper.
### Ron
"We saw Snape acting all sneaky, so we followed him. You too?"
Ron whispered back.
Harry nodded without saying a word. He hadn't even changed out of his Quidditch uniform, probably having rushed over on his broomstick as soon as he saw Snape head into the Forbidden Forest.
The four of them moved closer in silence, until they finally heard voices speaking.
