I Left my Cheating Husband and Married a Beast

Chapter 25

Chapter 25

“Do you want to go to the Marquis’s house?”

Beloni had told Shanur the day before that she wanted to visit the Marquis’s house.

“Yes.”

“Is there a reason you have to go?”

“I need to bring some things. Though, my father or the Marquis’s wife may have already thrown them out.”

Noticing Shanur’s displeased expression, Beloni cautiously asked, “Do you not want me to go?”

“I can’t stop you, but I’m worried you won’t see anything good.

I’m concerned.”

However, Shanur didn’t stop Beloni.

He even suggested she take the black carriage and go first.

He also wanted to send more knights, including Nosel, but Beloni refused, feeling it would be too much.

The people of the Jerem Marquis’s family were too weak for something serious to happen, but Beloni still appreciated Shanur’s concern for her, which made her smile as she thought of her father, the Marquis of Jerem.

The Marquis of Jerem wasn’t a memorable figure.

He hardly ever showed up, and when he did, he was indifferent toward Beloni.

She once hoped for his affection, but that was a naive thought from her childhood. The Marquis didn’t care about Beloni or his family at all, and he only paid attention to his wife, the Marquis’s lady, and his stepdaughter, Ariel.

Thus, Beloni and the Marquis had no real connection.

So, she had no idea what kind of reaction he might have when she visited.

“Even so, when your marriage to Count Beckham was confirmed, he seemed happy.”

“That’s true.”

Beloni nodded, recalling the moment.

Just as Marina said, when her marriage to Ian was confirmed, the Marquis of Jerem showed interest in her for the first time.

“Marriage?”

“Yes, dear. Count Beckham is 24, very handsome, and capable. I think he’ll be a good match for Beloni.”

The Marquis’s wife acted like the perfect stepmother, only praising Ian in front of him.

However, the Marquis’s response wasn’t exactly caring.

“…Well, you’re 20 now. It’s the age to get married.”

That one sentence was all the attention the Marquis gave her, and the Marquis’s wife quickly changed the topic, fearing the Marquis might care about Beloni.

If that was considered attention, Beloni thought, then maybe Shanur truly loved her.

Beloni smiled.

It seemed the Marquis’s wife was worried about the Marquis caring for Beloni because of her biological mother.

She had likely misunderstood the nature of the relationship between the Marquis and her late mother.

Beloni, however, never thought that way.

“When I was old enough to wonder about my birth mother, I asked the servants who worked in the Marquis’s house. One day, the Marquis came to me, grabbed me by the collar, and shouted, ‘Never mention that woman again! Never!’”

At only eight years old, Beloni was shocked, and she never spoke of her mother again after that.

The incident caused Beloni’s nanny to be kicked out of the Marquis’s house.

That’s when Beloni began to treat her biological father as if he didn’t exist.

“When the talk of marriage with Count Beckham came up, my father wasn’t congratulating me. He was just happy to get rid of a problem.”

“Aga-ssi…”

The mood became heavy, but Beloni smiled at Marina.

“Let’s stop talking about unpleasant things.

We should be happy. Soon, the Marquis’s family won’t be able to treat us however they want.”

Beloni was about to become one of the highest-ranking women in the kingdom, second only to the Empress, in about a month.

Shanur, born a noble but orphaned when his mother died during childbirth, was raised by the current Emperor.

He had renounced his claim to the throne early on, receiving the title of Duke, and had earned fame and honor from his military achievements.

Being married to someone like him was a big deal, far beyond just being part of the royal family.

“We should make things difficult for the Marquis’s wife and Ariel while we’re at it.”

“Sounds good! Let’s make them suffer.”

Beloni smiled as Marina raised her chin proudly.

Just then, the carriage stopped.

“Who are you?” a Marquis’s guard asked, startled by the large, fancy carriage.

The guard didn’t even recognize the seal of the Duke of Reinhardt on the carriage. Nosel was surprised but maintained a stiff tone.

“I’m from the Reinhardt Duke family.”

“The… Reinhardt Duke family?! Why? Why?”

The guards were taken aback and whispered to each other.

“Didn’t you hear?

The eldest daughter is marrying the Duke of Reinhardt!”

“Is that rumor true?”

After a moment of awkward silence, they forced a smile.

“P-please come in!” they said, gesturing for them to enter.

The carriage stopped in front of the mansion.

Beloni, ready to get out, smiled as Nosel helped her down.

The butler and headmaid were hurriedly fixing their clothes, breathing heavily as they prepared.

As Beloni stepped out, the butler and maid quickly bowed their heads without even looking at her.

It was a strange feeling to see them acting so subservient now, especially considering how they used to treat her poorly.

“The butler and head maid…” Beloni called gently.

“Y-yes?” they stammered, looking up in surprise.

Beloni, holding a fan in front of her mouth, looked down at them.

They used to treat her poorly, especially after Ariel came along, but now they were silent.

Beloni realized how much her position had changed since she was going to marry the Duke of Reinhardt.

“I’ve come back home. Is there a problem?”

The butler and maid froze in shock.

They had never thought she would be in such a position.

“Well, it wasn’t a ‘home,’ was it? I’ve had a lot of trouble here,” Beloni said, with a smile as she put her fan down.

The guards standing next to her stared sharply at the butler and maid, who began trembling at the sight of the Duke’s insignia on their swords.

“What’s wrong? Is it winter already?” Beloni said lightly.

“Don’t just stand there. Shouldn’t you be showing me in?” Marina added, with a proud tone.

“Yes, of course!” the maid hastily said, almost forgetting her manners.

Beloni watched them, knowing they were afraid of her now, and sighed softly.

Spending money had always been exciting, but wielding power felt even better.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you need anything else.
