Chapter 19 - Shopping with Three People
The weather is nice, perfect for shopping.
“Why don’t you go today? I’ll give you money. You can get the big items delivered or mark them for later and ask Higashi-san to bring them with his car.”
“What are you talking about, big bro? If we’re going shopping, you’re coming too! Why are you speaking like it’s someone else’s business?”
Huh? I have to go too?
“The school’s on break, you know? If classmates see you hanging out with me, it’ll be troublesome for you.”
Karen and Erika stand out quite a bit. What would happen if they were spotted walking with a guy? It’d definitely be a hot topic when school resumes.
“No big deal, right?”
“Yeah, it’s fine.”
Really?
“Because, you know, baseless rumors might—”
“There’s no reason we’d be troubled by rumors with you, Seiichiro-kun. We’re actually living together, so there’s a basis to it.”
“No, that’s not what I meant. Um…”
“If people misunderstand and think you’re my boyfriend, that might actually be better since it would keep weirdos away.”
Ah… so there are benefits to that?
These good-looking folks have their troubles too, huh?
“Besides, you said you’d choose underwear for us, didn’t you?”
“I did not!”
What kind of twisted information is going on in your head?
“Well, Seiichiro-kun, it wouldn’t be bad for you to go out on such a sunny day. There are various problems that can arise from lack of sunlight like vitamin D deficiency and vision problems.”
Are you my mom?
I don’t need you to worry about my health that much.
“Ah, also, I… would be happy if you came along.”
Huh—.
If Karen ever learns to control those expressions and words intentionally, she could manipulate men however she wanted. Or maybe it’s powerful precisely because it’s natural.
Sigh. Well, it’d be better to have someone to carry stuff. We might have big items too.
“Alright, let’s go.”
“Yay! It’s a date!”
“A date? Is this a date?”
“I said we’re shopping!”
We got off the bus. There were many shops lining the street, and a lot of people walking around.
“I want to go home.”
“What are you saying, big bro?”
“Are you feeling unwell? Or should we—”
“No, I’m fine. Let’s go.”
I didn’t want to walk down a busy street with these two. I’d definitely stand out.
And also,
“Big bro~! Ehehe~”
“Seriously, you’re scary.”
“Why do you react like that? You should at least be embarrassed or something.”
I just didn’t have time to be embarrassed. Please let go of me quickly.
“Okay!”
What a stressful encounter for me… Oh? She let go quite easily.
“Anyway, let’s find a shop. We’re mainly here for clothes.”
It seems like none of us are familiar with this shopping area.
“Let’s split up and look for stores we like. Karen and big bro can go together. I’ll be fine on my own.”
“What? I’m worried, Erika should come too.”
“I’ll be okay! I’m not a child anymore.”
Aren’t middle-schoolers considered children?
“Alright, let’s go. We need to find stores.”
After walking awkwardly for a while, Karen stopped.
“This store should have what we need.”
The store she pointed at specialized in women’s underwear. Obviously, I have no reason to go in.
“I’ll wait on that bench.”
“Okay, I’ll make it quick.”
“Don’t rush. And don’t skimp on spending. Use all the money I gave you.”
“But—”
“Don’t be frugal. If there’s any left, I’ll buy you clothes of my choice. If you don’t want to wear terrible clothes, pick your own.”
Karen hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
“Alright, I’ll take your word for it. See you later.”
“Sure. Ah, but—”
Just as I turned to go sit on the bench, she stopped me.
“I’d also like to wear clothes that you pick out for me, you know?”
Caught off guard, I froze.
“See you later.”
As I was still searching for the right words to say, Karen disappeared into the store. I walked to the bench, maintaining my composure.
I sat down. Then immediately stood up.
“Calm down, me.”
I should go wash my face in the restroom.
Seriously, what’s with that sister?
