I want to eat dragon meat

Chapter 3

“Uh oh…”

I mutter in astonishment.

Ridiculous physical abilities and the ability to function underwater.

No matter how you look at it, it feels like I’ve ceased to be human.

Instinctively, I glance at my body.

It’s clearly the slender physique of a young girl.

With flawless, snow-white skin and golden hair, I resemble a beautiful maiden.

“…This is fundamentally too bizarre to even comprehend.”

I stop thinking deeply and switch gears.

In a situation like this, surviving takes precedence. Considering my newfound survival skills, I should count myself lucky.

“Anyway, survival basics… food, clothing, shelter. Currently, I lack clothing, food, and shelter… all of them!?”

I self-correct.

The clothing issue… I’m completely naked.

The food issue… no water or food stockpiles.

The shelter issue… I have no home.

With all three basics lacking, and with only the bones and skin of a dragon as materials, it’s a crying shame.

“Oh… but maybe the shelter problem is solvable?”

I come up with an idea and lightly clap my hands.

My gaze lands on the dragon, reduced to bones and skin.

If I can use that as a tent substitute…

I try entering through the throat wound.

Inside, it’s surprisingly spacious.

The elongated water dragon seems like a better option since the ceiling is a bit lower here.

Naturally, it’s pitch black inside, and it would require quite a bit of modification to make it comfortable to live in.

“Well, I guess I shouldn’t complain too much. At least the shelter problem is temporarily solved.”

I lie down inside the dragon.

It’s reasonably hard, but it feels better than lying on the rocks.

“Now, onto the food problem. The surroundings are all sea, and there are fish far away, so I could catch them if I wanted to… if I had the right tools.”

It would be risky to catch fish bare-handed; I might end up breaking bones.

I should use tools like a civilized person, but currently, the only usable materials are from the dragon.

“Hmm… Can I make a spear using the dragon’s bones or teeth? As for fishing hooks… well, without thread, that might be impossible. But with the ability to move freely underwater, as long as I have a spear, I should be able to catch fish, right?”

I roll over and sit up halfway.

“And then, it’s a matter of securing water.”

I remember hearing that humans can’t survive more than three days without water.

Though I might endure longer in my current superhuman state, if I can’t solve the water problem, I’m doomed.

“Let’s see… I recall you could make distilled water using plastic, containers, and seawater… but I don’t have the materials.”
I thought about using the dragon’s skin.

The skin of the water dragon is quite thick, but the surface is smooth. It seems like it could be worth trying.

As for the dragon’s skin, it’s even thicker than the water dragon’s and seems like it could be used directly as armor or a shield.

“Armor… a suit of armor made from dragon scales… Dragon Scale Mail sounds pretty cool, doesn’t it?”

I imagine myself wearing dragon scale armor.

It’s a bit of a niche look, with me being naked underneath. I definitely need some clothes before I put on armor.

“Well, lying on the rocks doesn’t hurt at all, and there’s no one around to see me, so I guess I can put that off for now.”

I mutter while glancing at my slender chest.

I somehow feel like I should cover at least my waist and chest.

As a human, as a civilized person… and honestly, it’s just not pleasant to look at.

Even though it’s my own, it’s not good for the heart to have it in my field of vision.

“Now, to survive on this island, I need to start by cutting the skin of the water dragon…”

So, first, I need to make a knife.

And for that, I’ll have to rely on the dragon again.

“Teeth… while they can pierce, they don’t seem suited for cutting or tearing… claws might work.”

In fact, the dragon was using its talons to tear open the water dragon’s chest.

While it might not be suitable for precise cutting, it should be able to tear.

I crawl out from inside the dragon.

As I emerge from the throat wound, I’m startled to come face to face with the dragon’s face.

Putting that aside, I inspect the claws on its forelimbs.

The claws, about 50 centimeters long, are thick and sharp.

“Oh, it looks like a regular blade. Well, more like a big machete… Let’s give it a try.”

I move the claw on the left forelimb, placing it against the base of the claw on the right forelimb, and give it a firm chop.

With the detached claw in hand, I move over to the carcass of the water dragon.

Putting my hand on the torn part of the water dragon’s skin, I feel a chill.

The interior of the water dragon, now reduced to bones and skin, is cold to the touch.

Peering inside, I see droplets of water clinging to the surface. Condensation.

“Water!”

I exclaim with excitement.

“The chill must be coming from the water dragon’s skin, right? If I collect these water droplets, it could serve as drinking water!”

With a little hop, I immediately put my idea to the test.

Stretching out the water dragon carcass and lifting it from the tail end, I gather enough water to scoop up with both hands.

I take a sip, and it’s fine.

It tastes even a bit sweet, just like pure water. Perfect for drinking. The water problem is solved.

However, now I’m faced with the unresolved issue of being naked. It’s cold, and I can’t turn wet dragon skin into clothing.

“Now, if I can just catch some fish, I could survive on this island… But where even is this place?”

It’s a fundamental question.

Is it an unknown wilderness on Earth, or is it straight-up another world?

Either way, living alone in a place like this seems impossible.

“As far as I can see, there’s no other island around! And since there are no birds flying, there’s probably no land nearby! The classic deserted island scenario!”

I shout, but only the sound of the waves echoes back. It’s lonely.

Damn it. I’ll definitely escape from here someday.

But for now, survival is the priority. Specifically, I’m starting to feel hungry.

“Well, first things first, I need to make a spear and catch some fish.”

Since stabbing them just makes them disappear, I’ll have to catch them with my bare hands.

What I need right now isn’t some legendary weapon, but just an ordinary hunting tool.
