Chapter 141: Second Layer of the Forest of Disruption? [2]
"Nah. I'll do this on my own." With an arrogant smirk, she snapped her fingers while leaping back.
Just above the eyes of the lizard, droplets of water manifested before blasting through its eyes, destroying them and blinding them.
Thud...!
After landing back on her feet, she watched as the lizard fell onto its stomach while thrashing around. Lillian stared at it for a moment, "Sorry about that. You didn't give me enough time to turn them into spears..."
She began to take steps towards it, raising her arms forward and opening her hands. In the air, a black odachi manifested itself into reality before being tightly clutched.
Lillian felt it strongly pushed itself down due to its weight and tensed her muscles.
Over her chest, a pale-ish brown chest plate formed—created out of a smooth, protective, and durable exoskeleton.
After pulling off the sheath and storing it into her spacial ring, she quickly turned to the side.
Her eyes found the second lizard to be standing on its hind-back legs. Its underside with a pale-ish yellow with no scales at all.
The lizard slashed down its left claw at her, cutting through the air with its three knife-like digits.
SWISH...!
Lillian spun on her heel, swinging the black blade of the Odachi diagonally up and cleaving through the centre of its incoming limb.
The half that was cut off flew through the air, spilling a trail of blood through the air.
Just before it could land, the lizard, unfazed by its wound, twisted its body around and swung its other claw at her.
Lillian, while still holding the momentum caused by the swing, continued her movement and ducked down a bit—narrowly dodging the swing—before rising.
Her blade, which was raised high due to the swing, was then brought down diagonally, sinking into the soft flesh of the lizard's chest and ripping it open.
As her unstained blade left the chest of the lizard, so did its organ, which spilled out uncontrollably, starting with its intestines.
Lillian stood before the lizard as blood shot out from the stumps of its missing arms and curtains of blood flowing from its chest. The lizard let out a strained growl before leaning back and—
THUD!
Lillian stared at it with an unimpressed gaze, "You're definitely not as strong as the Beetle." She then glanced at the Odachi and said, "Or maybe the Odachi is too cheating... Ah... could be why Marionette doesn't want me using it for combat training—"
BAM!
Lillian felt something slam into her back with explosive force, causing her to launch forward and roll uncontrollably at a tree and...
Thud...!
"OW, man!" Lillian lifted her forehead up from the tree, caressing it with a pained and annoyed expression, "What the hell hit me?" She looked back and saw the blind lizard staring in her general location.
"Oh..." She turned her body around, resting her back against the tree while still rubbing her forehead.
"I thought you were already dead. Huh... maybe I should stop lowering my guard." She said while patting her chest plate, "Good thing I got my trusty chest plate."
She then raised her eyes back towards the lizard to find it charging at her. She briefly widened her eyes before rolling to the side, narrowly escaping being crushed by it.
SNAP!
The lizard crashed through the tree, cracking and snapping it in half before raising its rounded snout into the air. After getting a whiff of a certain girl's smell, it turned to her.
However, it was met with a wet splash on its face and an odd sensation of something sticking to it.
It was a bluish-pebble-like object that seemed to have voluntarily latched on to its face on its own. It scratched at the itch and found it to act like some sort of stubborn flee or hard wart.
Snap. Snap. Snap.
Its head snapped towards the sound coming from Lillian, who was without her Odachi. She gave it a lazy smile as she held up her right hand and pressed her right middle finger and thumb together before sliding them.
Snap.
Droplets—exactly like the ones that had destroyed its eyes—manifested in the air behind her, growing a bit in size. In the very centre of each one, a deep blue pebble formed—entirely made up of mana.
With a flick of her finger, a barrage of droplets splashed against its body, leaving more of the pebbles on its body.
Finding that it did no harm to it, it rushed towards her, slashing its claws and biting at her. Lillian, fortunately, was able to dodge these clumsy attacks from the blind monster while continuously firing more.
Splash. Splash. Splash.
After a while of this back-and-forth chase, Lillian's smile did not once leave her face. Instead, it only grew after seeing the current appearance of the lizard.
It was covered in "pebbles". So much so that it looked as though it was infected with some ungodly disease that caused its body's lymph nodes to swell.
She then watched it pause in its tracks as confusion spread across its body. The edges of her lips curved just a tad bit larger as she glanced at the very first pebble that stuck onto its body.
It wiggled once. And then again. And then another.
It was like a small egg waiting to hatch. And it did.
Pop!
It let out a soft pop, followed by a hiss as what seemed to be boiled water erupted from within.
Hiss...
The scalding liquid splashed against the lizard's body, causing it to shake its head—left and right—vigorously to shake off the water.
But as soon as that "pebble" exploded, it was like a chain reaction of pops.
Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop!
One after another, each "pebble" stuck to its body wiggled before exploding with searing water found within. Clouds of steam rose from its irritated body and mixed with the dark fog.
Due to all these stimulating pain across its body, it failed to make out Lillian's presence beside it. She stared at it and then smirked before lopping off its head with her Odachi.
Thud...
