I Will Eventually Embark On The Path Of No Return Called A Hero

Chapter 349: Chapter 68. The [Truth] Galand

[Arc5] - 68. The [Truth] Galand

---

Britannia trembled, and even Liones felt its reverberations. Without any need for explanation, the [Seven Deadly Sins] knew that the [Ten Commandments] had been resurrected, heralding the start of the Holy War.

With disaster looming, the main combatants of the [Seven Deadly Sins] requested magic-suppressing items from Merlin. Escanor, in particular, adorned himself head to toe with them. Given Meliodas's description of the [Ten Commandments], it was certain they would promptly come for a "friendly visit" after their revival. Yet, it wouldn't do if their preparations were so thorough that the [Ten Commandments] embarrassed to show up.

Of course, Escanor had his own motivation—to collect as many of Merlin's enchanted items as possible, purely for "love."

"Bartra, as we agreed ten years ago, humanity will unite to face the revived Demon Clan," said Cyd, hoisting the [Reforged Pandora] weapon as he warmed up. The battles ahead were no trivial skirmishes.

"I understand. The Holy War has begun. But I feel unexpectedly relaxed now," Bartra said calmly. Though he couldn't offer much direct help, he donned armor and wielded a knight's sword, positioning himself at the forefront of the Holy Knights.

"This Holy War will end in this era, ensuring future generations are free from its threats. Elizabeth, too…"

"Don't worry, Bartra." Cyd patted Bartra's shoulder firmly, a smirk on his face. "I don't hold back against non-human foes. Now, you all should clear the area—there's a grand welcoming party coming up."

A few kilometers outside Liones, in what was once a dangerous land filled with magical beasts, Escanor had swung his axe, turning the terrain into a flat clearing.

"Merlin, are you ready?" Meliodas, one of the welcoming party members, asked, rubbing his shoulder as he looked at Merlin holding a translucent orb.

"The Commandment of [Selflessness] is well-preserved. A little stimulation will send out a signal." After Fraudrin's defeat, the Commandment of [Selflessness] had naturally fallen into the [Seven Deadly Sins'] possession, now safeguarded by Merlin within the translucent orb.

"As soon as the signal is sent, Zeldris, as the Executioner and holder of the Commandment of [Piety], will notice. Though he might not come personally, it's likely he'll send two members of the [Ten Commandments]."

"Perfect. Today, the [Ten Commandments] will be fewer in number."

"Diane, what are Meliodas-sama and the rest planning to do?" Elizabeth looked at Diane who was a logistics division, with some curiosity.

Diane was stunned for a moment, thought for a while, patted Elizabeth's shoulder and whispered: "Fight for Elizabeth's happiness."

"Diane, you are kidding me again. I am happy as long as I can maintain the status quo."

"That's right, Elizabeth, but..." Diane looked at Meliodas's thin back with a complicated expression.

Maintaining the current status quo between you and Captain is the most difficult thing in the world, because you and Captain are not even allowed that little bit of warmth.

Meanwhile, Zeldris, scouting for a stronghold, suddenly raised his head. As the Demon King's representative, he keenly sensed the signal from [Selflessness].

"Is Fraudrin there?"

"Oh!" Galand clapped his forehead, his black eyes narrowing slightly. "Zeldris, Fraudrin and I go way back. I'll go check on him."

Before Zeldris could respond, Galand leapt into the sky. However, Zeldris's icy voice followed him.

"Anyone who lies in front of you will be turned to stone by the Commandment of [Truth]. This applies to you as well. If your half-truths are judged as lies, you won't escape punishment."

"Haha, I'm just going to say hello. It's no big deal." Ignoring Zeldris's warning, Galand soared off into the distance.

"Galand is gone~" Gloxinia touched his chin with his tentacles and turned to fly to another place, "Then treat it as an operation to invade Britannia in batches."

[Patience] Drole said goodbye to Zeldris politely and followed Gloxinia.

In a blink of an eye, the Ten Commandments have lost one third of their members. Compared with the friendly relationship between the [Seven Deadly Sins], the [Ten Commandments] are more like forcibly tying together a few monsters that have no harmony at all.

"Hmph." Zeldris snorted coldly, holding his chest, then turned and walked towards the castle in the distance. There seemed to be dark magic there, and the shape of the castle was very suitable to be the base of the Demon clan.

"Derieri, you didn't leave." Monspeet followed Derieri, rubbing his mustache. At first glance, he looked like an honest uncle advising a bad girl to go home.

"Lazy." Completely contrary to her wild appearance, Derieri spoke very little and said perfunctorily without even glancing at Monspeet.

"Oh." Monspeet seemed to have long been accustomed to Derieri's coldness. He skillfully took off his coat and put it on Derieri's shoulders, where only the key parts were blocked by black lines, even though the demons would not catch a cold at all.

"Here it comes." Merlin's eyes opened as she pointed eastward. "A high magic power source is approaching at incredible speed—40 kilometers, 39 kilometers, 38 kilometers…"

The Holy Knights, evacuating in the distance, stared in shock at the rapidly approaching entity. For the remaining members of the [[Seven Deadly Sins], however, this was standard fare.

"Why am I in the logistics division?" Ban grumbled, glaring at Meliodas, King, Escanor, Merlin, and Cyd before turning to Gowther. "Why didn't you stay behind?"

"Because I'm always in logistics. Besides, the incoming enemy is Galand—zero threat to Captain Meliodas," Gowther still didn't forget to act cute, quipped, dressed in his [Boar Hat] Tavern uniform and selling drinks alongside Hawk.

"Ban, as the [Boar Hat]'s chef, shouldn't you be cooking? This is the perfect time to recover recent losses by charging these well-fed Holy Knights."

"Ah… I want a fish pie, please," Zaratras said from a stool, with Hendrickson immediately pulling out his wallet while Dreyfus crafted a makeshift chair for him.

Ban sighed, tying on an apron. "This is supposed to be the opening shot of the Holy War—at least order something expensive!"

It was obviously an extremely serious and tense occasion, but everyone was extremely relaxed.

That's right, they are about to fight the legendary Demon clan, they are going to face fear itself, so they have to stay here, they have to get courage from those people of different sizes in the distance!

"Here it comes." Merlin stored the orb containing [Selflessness] and disappeared. The next moment, a red figure descended at high speed.

"Meliodas, I'm here!"

With a thunderous crash, the red figure landed, sending dust and debris flying. As it stood, its armor-like skin emitted a terrifying creak. The smoke cleared, revealing a tall, slender armored figure. Its grotesque, unearthly grin echoed through the air.

"The [Truth] Galand has arrived!"
