Chapter 80 - This Man is Truly Terrifying!

Gilgamesh's remaining kingly points had increased to 73,521 points. This time, he directly increased his spiritual pressure to 100,000. He left the remaining 23,521 points untouched because the difference between 100,000 and 120,000 spiritual pressure was negligible. If 100,000 spiritual pressure couldn't affect Ryūjin Jakka, then 120,000 wouldn't either.

Everyone present was once again filled with uncertainty because of Gilgamesh's words. To them, his statements seemed contradictory. He had just said Ryūjin Jakka resisted Kennō, yet now he claimed he could try again. Did he intend to use his Bankai?

The intense heat forced Byakuya and Ginrei, who were close to Yamamoto, to step back to avoid getting burned.

Byakuya, seeing Ryūjin Jakka's Shikai for the first time, realized that the legends he grew up hearing did do it justice. Even in a partially released state, its power was overwhelming, making him feel a suffocating pressure.

Ginrei and Sasakibe were also visibly moved, not by Ryūjin Jakka's power but by the fact that Gilgamesh had indeed managed to force its Shikai. They knew that Muramasa could only control or manifest Zanpakutō spirits but could not make them release their Shikai. In this regard, Kennō had already surpassed Muramasa.

They were confused, however, about why Gilgamesh's second attempt succeeded. Only Yamamoto noticed the difference: Gilgamesh's spiritual pressure had doubled between the two attempts.

Ignoring the fiery bursts from Ryūjin Jakka, Yamamoto gripped its hilt, and his overwhelming spiritual pressure restored it to its sealed state. This confirmed his suspicion: Kennō's power was related to the user's spiritual pressure. This meant that Gilgamesh was holding back, using only a fraction of his true power.

Understanding the potential danger, Yamamoto realized he could not allow Gilgamesh to grow unchecked. If left alone, Gilgamesh's power would soon surpass everyone in the Soul Society except possibly Ichibē Hyōsube of the Zero Division. Yamamoto knew that nurturing and guiding Gilgamesh carried too many uncertainties. If things went awry, the consequences would be catastrophic.

Having made his decision, Yamamoto subtly signaled Sasakibe. As his long-time assistant, Sasakibe instantly understood. Moving swiftly, he appeared behind Gilgamesh, aiming his sword at Gilgamesh's right hand to disarm him. However, a single word from Gilgamesh halted him.

"Stop!"

Kennō commanded, and Sasakibe's blade froze an inch from Gilgamesh's hand. For the first time, Sasakibe personally experienced Kennō's power and felt its overwhelming authority. His Zanpakutō, Gonryōmaru, echoed in his mind, 'I'm sorry, Chōjirō, but an order from the king cannot be defied.'

Sasakibe wasn't angry at his Zanpakutō; he was baffled by how his foolproof strike had failed. The only explanation was that Gilgamesh had anticipated his move and prepared in advance. Realization struck Sasakibe, and he muttered, "Precognition…"

Yamamoto, recognizing the gravity of the situation, decided to act immediately. Approaching Gilgamesh with Ryūjin Jakka, his terrifying spiritual pressure filled the office, making Byakuya, Ginrei, and Sasakibe feel as if they were sinking into a deep ocean, overwhelmed by fear and cold. In their minds, they could only scream in terror.
