Chapter 81 - The Soul Society Shakes!

Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni stepped toward Gilgamesh, his voice resonating with gravity, "I'm sorry, but for the stability of the Soul Society, I must destroy your Zanpakutō."

"If you do not resist and willingly surrender your Zanpakutō, I will take you under my wing as my last disciple and ensure you rise to the rank of captain in the future."

"I believe, with your talent, you can become an extraordinary warrior even without a Zanpakutō."

Yamamoto's words revealed his admiration for talent. As he stated, even without a Zanpakutō, Gilgamesh's exhibited abilities ensured he would become a formidable figure. Byakuya and Chōjirō, having witnessed Gilgamesh's talents, believed this wholeheartedly.

Historically, the Gotei 13 had a precedent of a warrior becoming a powerful figure without relying on a Zanpakutō: the former Second Division Captain, Yoruichi. However, Yoruichi's success was heavily influenced by her noble bloodline, whereas Gilgamesh's talents were purely his own.

Ginrei, unaware of this context, was shocked by Yamamoto's words. Having served under Yamamoto for centuries, Ginrei had never heard him speak so highly of anyone. Not even Yamamoto's most esteemed disciples, Kyōraku and Ukitake, had received such praise.

Ginrei couldn't fathom the extent of Gilgamesh's talent, though he had little time to ponder. Yamamoto stopped a few steps from Gilgamesh, holding Ryūjin Jakka, awaiting his response.

Gilgamesh smiled slightly, loosening his grip on Kennō. The onlookers believed he had agreed to Yamamoto's terms, and even Yamamoto felt a moment of relief, hoping to avoid killing such a prodigious talent.

However, before Kennō could hit the ground, it disintegrated into countless particles of light, dissipating. Before anyone could react, Gilgamesh's calm yet commanding voice echoed, "Kennō is This King's Zanpakutō, a treasured artifact among my collection. Although This King possess many similar treasures, This King do not have the habit of giving away what is mine."

His words left everyone in stunned silence. They instinctively rejected his claim. The notion that Kennō, a Zanpakutō that shouldn't even exist, was merely one among many treasures in Gilgamesh's vaults seemed impossible. Additionally, they were perplexed by his self-designation as "king" and his reference to "King's Treasury."

Who was this "king," and what kingdom did he rule? These questions swirled in their minds, adding to their confusion. Yet, they couldn't deny that Gilgamesh exuded an aura of royalty that stirred a desire for allegiance within them, despite his youth.

Yamamoto's eyes turned dangerously sharp. In this moment, his admiration for Gilgamesh vanished, replaced by the need to neutralize a threat. In Yamamoto's eyes, Gilgamesh couldn't be a mere commoner from Rukongai or a noble from Seireitei. His regal demeanor couldn't have been cultivated by even the Four Great Noble Families.

Given Gilgamesh's mysterious background and undisclosed motives for attending the Shin'ō Academy, Yamamoto concluded that Gilgamesh was a significant threat to the Soul Society's stability.

Determined to act, Yamamoto spoke firmly, "Gilgamesh, observe closely. This is the true Shikai of Ryūjin Jakka!"

"All things of this world, turn to ashes—Ryūjin Jakka!"

As he spoke, Yamamoto unleashed a horizontal slash. Instantly, ferocious flames erupted from Ryūjin Jakka, transforming into a cataclysmic wave of fire aimed at Gilgamesh. Everything in its path was engulfed in searing destruction.

The entire office was bathed in the blazing light, the heat intense enough to force Byakuya, Ginrei, and Sasakibe to break into cold sweats, even though the attack wasn't directed at them. In that fleeting moment, they all felt death's chilling grasp.

It was terrifying—truly terrifying! They couldn't imagine surviving such an attack.

As the flames subsided, the acrid scent of burnt wood filled the air. The sight of charred, smoking ruins met their eyes, with patches of lingering flames continuing to burn.

The disturbance was so significant that even the distant Thirteenth Division sensed it. From his sickbed, Ukitake recognized his mentor's handiwork. Though unaware of the details, he knew it had to be a major incident for Yamamoto to act personally.

Ignoring his frail condition, Ukitake used Shunpo to head for the First Division barracks. Other captains, including Mayuri, who usually remained engrossed in his experiments, also rushed toward the source of the disturbance.

Unlike the other captains, Mayuri's interest was more in collecting data on Yamamoto's abilities.

Aizen, Gin, and Tōsen also moved swiftly toward the First Division. Gin couldn't help but remark, "I wonder what happened for the Captain-Commander to get involved?"

Tōsen added, "Indeed, even from this distance, I can feel the intimidation of his power."

Behind his glasses, Aizen's eyes gleamed with intrigue, a slight smile playing on his lips, "I don't know what happened, but my intuition tells me it's related to Gilgamesh. Perhaps this time, we'll witness the true power of the ancient Hero King…"
