Chapter 352: Rapidly Ascending The Ascension Towers!
"Hmm…?" Waking up with a drowsy expression, Maxy's eyes suddenly grew round. "Where the hell am I!? A-And my butt—why does it sting so much!??"
Conveniently ignoring the second troublesome dragon-woman, Cassius watched as his Godforce completed a circuit through his body. He balled his hands into fists, feeling enough power in them to eradicate lower-dimensional realities.
"Hey, answer me, Human Scu—"
Frozen in place, Maxy was dumbfounded to discover herself unable to insult Cassius. She tried and tried, but her lips simply refused to pronounce the last part of the word.
"W… What have you done to me, Basta… Master…??"
Even she herself couldn't believe what she was saying, but that didn't stop it from leaving her throat. She covered her mouth right away, wearing a teary-eyed, defensive look on her face.
"I would ask why you're glaring at me like I'm the villain, but even I'm not shameless enough to deny my villainous tendencies," said Cassius, aloof as ever. "But who knows? Perhaps you'll one day come to enjoy and appreciate this new life and status of yours."
"Your predecessor," he pointed at the silver-scaled dragon desperately trying to make it back to Raijin and the group, "she adapted pretty fast. And I doubt she could be any happier."
"You call that being happy!?" Maxy couldn't stop herself from saying what she was thinking. "She looks like she's struggling for dear life!!"
Cassius shrugged. "That just builds character."
Signaling toward the joyous expression Yimin was making, he added, "See? She couldn't be happier."
"...."
What the hell was wrong with these people!?
And this human—where did someone as insane as him even come from!??
'Just give it up,' Nyxvoldar silently conveyed his advice, attempting to get her to understand. 'This is your life now. Go with the flow, and maybe—just maybe—you'll survive to see the next sunrise.'
Nyxvoldar had become abundantly proficient in speaking with his repeated evolutions, but very rarely did he ever put his skills to practical use. Keeping silent had always worked out for him, so why change something that wasn't broken?
*Fwoooop!*
In spite of Maxy's exasperation, they finally broke through the tunnel between Dimensions. Arriving in the 6th Paradise's clear blue skies, the scenery before them unraveled.
Fields stretched endlessly, with wheat and various tall magical herbs wildly swaying in the wind. At the center of the seemingly limitless expanse of fields was a ridiculously large fortress-city—likely spanning billions of miles in length.
Yet, the size wasn't even the most surprising thing about the Fortress-City. Instead, it was the fact that it traveled across the picturesque world on bio-mechanically engineered legs that truly took the group's breath away.
The Moving Fortress-City of Monster-Heaven.
It was where the highest-born and most powerful monsters under the Monster Ancestors resided. And with a quick, unnoticeable System Scan, Cassius was able to confirm the veracity of the rumors. More than a dozen presences infinitely nearing the Godlike Rank lived within that Fortress-City.
"Have you ever been here, Maxy?" he asked.
"No—I mean, why should I answer your question, you bastar… Master?"
"So you've never been to the 6th Paradise?" Cassius's lips pursed. "Why would that be? Did you not get out much?"
Grumbling, Maxy folded her arms, averting her gaze from the overly handsome man. "Why are you asking about all of this anyway? What is it that you really want from the Land of Monsters!? I've never heard of a human as young and strong as you! To even be capable of ascending the Ascension Towers, you have to be within certain age brackets, which must mean that you—"
"Just answer the question, Maxy."
"Yes, of course, Master," Maxy replied robotically. "I've never been to the 6th Paradise because I was never allowed to before now. You are required to have an extremely pure Bloodline of a high rank unless you're a Godlike existence—those are the only ways one can enter the 6th Paradise. With the only exception being…"
"Invasion," Cassius said with a brooding smile. "How interesting."
Accidentally staring at his thoughtful expression for too long, Maxy harrumphed as she turned away from him.
'He's not even that… that handsome! Humph! Stupid bastard human, slaving Master!'
Unconsciously, she had already started naturally referring to Cassius as her Master.
After a brief period of deliberation, Cassius decided to call it quits here for today—just as he had upon encountering the 6th Floors of Wolfdom and HELL. These second-to-last Floors of each Tower were simply in a different league.
It was also highly possible that the Ancestors of the Towers would descend from their Thrones the moment he even thought about making a move.
The way Cassius saw it, Floors 0 through 5 were basically disposable for every Dimension. They would naturally restore or rebirth themselves anyway, with all the most powerful powerhouses returning to life one way or another.
The higher-ups of each Tower naturally took note when someone like Cassius appeared and disrupted things, but unless it was a matter of utmost urgency or a Karma Event, none of them cared.
To them, it was honestly more of a hassle breaking regulations to descend to the lower Floors.
Godlike Rank beings lived in what one could consider a different reality from Transcendents and Lower Beings. It was because of this that they couldn't easily traverse lesser planes of existence. With it being even more difficult for the oldest and most ancient entities—like those of Yggdrasil—to maneuver as they saw fit.
Fortunately for them, the 7th Floors of every Ascension Tower were constructed in a way that left them unfettered in terms of movement and exploration. Not many knew exactly what this entailed or what the highest of Floors were like, but countless saw them as the final destination—
The Pinnacle of Comfort and Exaltation.
Although Cassius was a bit disappointed that he couldn't progress any further without being drained dry of all his hundreds of millions of lives, he had accomplished what he needed to.
