Chapter 38: Chapter 36 Return (Part 2)
New World, Cake Island
King stared at Katakuri, ignoring the others, and asked, "Should I assume you are ready to fight me?"
Beside him, L'Aquila remained silent, her eyes growing more murderous as she surveyed the opponent's troops. he waited for Kings order, showing no fear of being in the territory of the Four Emperors.
Katakuri snorted coldly, then raised his hand to signal everyone to retreat. "This is just a reminder. You are no longer in Wano Country! This is our territory, and outsiders cannot run wild here! If you dare to cause trouble, not even Kaido can save you!"
King tried to calm his anger. The flames behind him gradually diminished, and he regained his composure. "Can we continue talking about the ceremony?"
"Don't worry. I told you, I need to ask my mother about this!" Katakuri tugged on the scarf around his face, showing no intention of moving.
While King was confused, a mirror in the castle rippled like water, and a woman with a withered face like a witch emerged. She was Charlotte Brûlée, the eighth daughter of the Charlotte family and a mirror person who ate the Paramecia Mirror-Mirror Fruit. She could control and create mirrors, reflect and copy any object, and even transform into other people. Enemies who touched the mirror were sucked into the "mirror world" and imprisoned.
Her laugh was as evil and sinister as a witch's. "Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu."
"Brûlée, what did Mom say?" Katakuri asked, still staring at Jhin.
Brûlée smiled sinisterly and said, "Brother Katakuri, Mother said! Since they are guests from afar, we must treat them warmly! We can't let them leave disappointed. We'll talk about other things later."
The members of the Charlotte family exchanged elusive smiles. The tension was palpable.
Katakuri then walked up to a mirror and said, "Since we're not in a hurry, why not come to my private villa for a cup of black tea? Let me entertain Wano's guests on behalf of the family! King, you won't refuse, right? If you're afraid, you can just say so. I never force a timid person!"
King remained silent, but the flames behind him surged higher. After a moment, he turned to L'Aquila and said lightly, "Before I come out, don't let anyone disturb me."
L'Aquila did not reply, but her eyes showed her determination.
King turned around, striding toward the rippling mirror, following Katakuri, and disappeared.
As Brûlée tried to follow, she was immediately blocked by L'Aquila, who teleported to the front. Brûlée was frightened into a cold sweat by L'Aquila's cold eyes.
Katakuri's voice came from the mirror, saying, "Brûlée, you don't need to come in! I will tell you after it's over!"
The other members of the Charlotte family gathered around the mirror, glaring at L'Aquila, who stood in front of the mirror like an emotionless robot, waiting quietly.
Mirror World
This alternate dimension, created by the Mirror-Mirror Fruit, featured uneven patterned tiles on the floor and walls and numerous mirrors everywhere. In theory, it could lead to any place in the world with a mirror, making it an extremely strategic capability.
Two tall figures stood in the mirror world, staring at each other in silence.
King was the first to speak. "I really thought you'd buy me a drink first."
Katakuri replied, "That's true!" He stepped with his right foot, and the ground beneath him became waxy and flowing. The empty ground behind him gradually rose, deforming and solidifying into a unique white palace.
King watched calmly. "It seems you have developed your ability quit nicely"
"This is just my first glimpse of the path to awakening," Katakuri said, pulling a pocket watch from his coat and checking the time. "It's almost my tea time. Do you mind waiting a bit longer?"
King was startled, then said, "I don't want to bully hungry people either."
Three chefs pushing a dining cart quickly approached, carrying a large pot of steaming black tea and a large number of giant donuts.
"I apologize for the wait, Katakuri-sama! Preparing for an additional guest took some time!" The chefs were trembling with cold sweat on their faces. Recently assigned to serve Katakuri, they were terrified, knowing that previous senior chefs who displeased him were executed.
"It doesn't matter; you arrived just in time!" Katakuri used his will to pull the ground, bringing the dining cart into the palace, and he and King followed.
After the palace door closed, the chefs exhaled and quickly left the area.
Inside, the furniture and decorations reflected Katakuri's impeccable style. Everything was exquisite and perfectly suited to their body shapes.
Katakuri poured a cup of black tea for each of them. "This is a top-quality brand of black tea, specially made in Totto Land. Even those with money can't buy it outside!"
He tasted his tea carefully, appearing relaxed and comfortable, no longer as aggressive as before. It was as if the person in front of him was not an opponent but a friend.
King, not restrained, sipped his tea and asked, "How long has it been since we last fought?"
"Ten years," Katakuri replied.
"Who won before?"
"It was evenly matched."
"Who do you think will win this time?"
Katakuri put down his empty cup. "Are you trying to say it's you?"
"No, I thought so before, but now, I'm not sure," King admitted while watching Katakuri taking off the scarf around his neck to reveal his ferocious, exaggerated fanged mouth. "It's because of this uncertainty that I feel a long-lost excitement. That's why I'm interested in fighting you!"
