Chapter 152: Chapter 151: The Eight-Tails and the Third Raikage

Chapter 151: The Eight-Tails and the Third Raikage

"Doctor, I'm troubling you again," said Dekai apologetically as he lay on the hospital bed, his body covered in injuries.

Tonari, wearing a mask, nodded without saying much. He examined Dekai's wounds—some scabbed over, others still oozing blood.

The injuries spoke volumes about the dangerous training grounds Dekai frequented.

Tonari knew of a mysterious location tied to Kumogakure.

Few people were aware of it, and reaching it was no simple feat.

It was a massive turtle, carrying a moving island on its back—one of Kumogakure's secrets, known as Turtle Island.

This turtle was possibly the largest living creature known in the ninja world.

Moreover, Turtle Island was home to numerous colossal beasts.

Dekai was likely training on Turtle Island, which explained the severity of his injuries.

After all, Dekai specialized in physical training. For someone with his robust physique to sustain such wounds, the training must have been unimaginably grueling.

Tonari gently placed his hand on Dekai's muscular frame.

"What an impressive physique. Even in the realm of taijutsu, there's a vast difference between people."

Despite a year of intense training in Lightning Release Chakra Mode under Might Duy, and the added benefit of the Two-Tails' chakra, Tonari found his physical body still lagged behind Dekai's.

And this comparison didn't even factor in Dekai's use of Lightning Release Chakra Mode.

Tonari's own Lightning Release Chakra was a result of scientific study and personal effort, making it inherently weaker compared to someone born with an affinity for it, like Dekai.

Dekai's current mastery of the Lightning Release Chakra Mode was unclear, but judging by his dedication, it couldn't be weak.

While Tonari had only scratched the surface of the mode's potential to enhance his body, Dekai was fully utilizing it for both offensive and defensive techniques.

Additionally, the ninja world had certain physiological differences between individuals.

Dekai's naturally larger frame gave him an edge in physical capabilities.

"An adolescent body truly brims with vitality and explosive power," Tonari mused silently.

At fifteen or sixteen, Dekai was in his prime growth years. His height rivaled that of many adults, and his rapid physical development contributed significantly to his strength.

Dekai, however, felt uneasy. For some reason, the doctor's gaze seemed odd today.

Thankfully, Tonari quickly snapped out of his thoughts.

"Ahem, your injuries are quite severe this time. I'll prescribe some medicine for you. Rest and recover before resuming training. Let your body recuperate," Tonari said calmly.

Dekai flexed his biceps and roared confidently, "Doctor, don't worry about my body! Just give me the strongest medicine you've got! I can handle it!

"My dad says a man should never admit defeat!"

Tonari paused mid-preparation, then nodded slowly, retracting his hand from a jar of restorative herbs.

Fine, if you want the "strong stuff," I'll give you a dose that'll knock your socks off.

Grinning to himself, he reached for a jar labeled:

"For reproductive purposes only. Extremely potent. Use with caution."

He grabbed a generous handful, ensuring Dekai would get the full experience.

"Here, same as before. Use it as instructed," Tonari said, handing over the prescription.

Having reviewed the doctor's previous notes and cases beforehand, Tonari managed to avoid arousing suspicion.

Dekai took the medicine eagerly and left, excited to continue his training regimen.

Tonari, constrained by his mission, couldn't stay to see how Dekai would fare after consuming the "special" prescription.

Once Dekai departed, Tonari used the downtime to thoroughly study Būrubi's medical records.

The records revealed that Būrubi had no physical ailments; in fact, his body was in excellent condition.

His issues were mental.

As a jinchūriki, Būrubi faced immense pressure. Additionally, the Eight-Tails' chakra, laden with negative emotions, weighed heavily on his psyche.

Many jinchūriki succumbed to this negative influence, leading to repeated bouts of loss of control.

Būrubi, compared to most jinchūriki, was exemplary.

Had he found a sense of purpose, he might have surpassed even Killer B as a jinchūriki.

---

As night fell, Tonari finally met Būrubi.

Tonari's first impression was of a gentle and humble man—quite different from the typical Kumogakure ninja.

"Doctor, I've run out of the last batch of medicine. I'm here for more," Būrubi said.

Tonari handed over the pre-prepared medicine.

"This looks different from the last batch," Būrubi noted.

"Yes, I've adjusted the formula based on your condition. This will help you sleep more peacefully and relax at night," Tonari explained.

Būrubi didn't question it. He had tried countless medications before.

"Thank you," he said simply, taking the medicine and leaving.

Once Būrubi was gone, Orochimaru, who had been hiding in Tonari's sleeve in snake form, emerged.

Tonari glanced at the intelligent-looking serpent. "The medicine I gave him is laced with genjutsu-inducing compounds. It will indeed help him sleep peacefully, but it will also severely diminish his control over the Eight-Tails and reduce his sensory perception.

"Now, it's your turn, Orochimaru-sensei."

Orochimaru, still in snake form, slithered off in the direction Būrubi had gone.

With his task complete, Tonari didn't leave immediately.

Kumogakure's hospital, though modestly staffed, had its unique merits—particularly its research on the injuries caused by Lightning Release Chakra Mode.

One technique caught Tonari's attention: a medical ninjutsu unique to Kumogakure.

By stimulating a patient's body with Lightning Release Chakra, the technique activated cellular regeneration near the damaged area, accelerating wound healing and removing necrotic tissue.

Tonari, who had previously experimented with electric currents to speed up recovery, found this fully developed system enlightening.

Additionally, Kumogakure's mountainous terrain offered access to rare herbs, some of which were exclusive to the region and exorbitantly priced elsewhere.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Tonari retrieved several pre-prepared storage scrolls and swept up the herbs and documents he had targeted.

"No sense in wasting a golden opportunity," he thought, sealing everything away.

With everything stashed, he left the hospital.

---

Outside, Tonari summoned Little Blue, who leaped into his arms.

"Is everything ready?"

"Trust me, it's done—meow," Little Blue said proudly.

Tonari nodded, then added, "Good. Now head back and inform Silver to prepare. Its big moment is coming soon."

Little Blue's eyes lit up with excitement. "Got it!"

With a puff of smoke, Little Blue vanished, ending the summoning.

Looking around at Kumogakure's sturdy structures, Tonari clicked his tongue.

"Such a shame…"

Boom!

A deafening roar shattered the tranquility, echoing across the skies.

"I'm out again!!! Tremble, you Kumogakure brats!!!"

Hearing the unmistakably arrogant voice, Tonari grinned.

The Eight-Tails truly had a brazen personality. Only someone like Killer B, with his irreverent rap lyrics, could ever tame it.

Within moments, the entire village was on high alert.

Kumogakure ninja, roused from sleep, leaped out of windows, rushing toward the source of the commotion. Their faces were grim with urgency.

Though younger ninja might not grasp the gravity of the situation, older veterans who had faced the Eight-Tails' wrath knew all too well the devastation it could bring.

Blending in with the crowd, Tonari followed them toward the chaos.

"Orochimaru-sensei sure works fast. He managed to unleash the Eight-Tails so quickly. With the sedatives I administered, Būrubi won't remember what happened after he passed out. Unfortunately for him, he'll die in vain."

As the Eight-Tails roared in defiance, Tonari muttered to himself, "I wonder how much stronger it is with six more tails than Big Blue?"

A voice suddenly cut in.

"You insolent brat! Could you keep your thoughts to yourself for once?"

The Two-Tails' voice echoed in Tonari's mind, dripping with exasperation.

Smiling, Tonari split his consciousness and entered the sealed space within him.

Seeing the Two-Tails sulking with its usual haughty demeanor, Tonari's grin widened.

"Alright, alright. We're on the same team, after all. How could I cheer for someone else over you?"

Leaning against the Two-Tails' side, he found a comfortable spot to recline.

"Hmph," the Two-Tails snorted, unwilling to reply further.

"Let's be serious. You spent a lot of time in Kumogakure with the Eight-Tails. How well do you know it?"

Despite its refusal to admit inferiority, the Two-Tails' solemn expression betrayed the pressure it felt from the Eight-Tails.

After a moment's silence, the Two-Tails spoke:

"That brute—its name is Gyūki. If not for its skill with Water Release, I wouldn't have…

"Ahem, anyway, its strength is formidable. Even your crafty teacher, Orochimaru, isn't its match.

"During my time in Kumogakure, Gyūki frequently rampaged, wreaking havoc every time. The village always managed to reseal it, though.

"Recently, Kumogakure has bolstered its sealing techniques, likely thanks to some outside source. They've kept both Gyūki and me restrained for years.

"With Gyūki unleashed, the ninja here will be too occupied to deal with you. If you plan to escape, now's your chance."

Tonari nodded. The Two-Tails' account aligned with his expectations. The destruction of Uzushiogakure had indeed strengthened Kumogakure's sealing capabilities.

"Not yet. If we're going to release Gyūki, we need to gain something from it.

"Besides, I promised to make you stronger, didn't I? You're my greatest ally."

Standing up, Tonari waved to the Two-Tails. "I'm off to watch the show. I might need your help later."

The Two-Tails waved dismissively. "Do as you please."

Returning to the present, Tonari saw the Eight-Tails wreaking havoc, already turning parts of Kumogakure upside down.

In just a few minutes, it had demonstrated the terrifying destructive power of a tailed beast.

It was no wonder villages treated them like nuclear weapons—capable of wiping out large portions of a village in one rampage. If the village's strongest were lured away, complete destruction was plausible.

Crackle!

A bolt of lightning streaked across the sky, accompanied by a thunderous roar.

A figure bathed in lightning appeared.

"It's Lord Raijin!"

"The Third Raikage is here!"

"Everyone hold on! Lord Raikage has arrived!"

The atmosphere shifted. The arrival of the Third Raikage, Ay, was a morale boost for everyone present.

With a fist that seemed disproportionately small compared to the Eight-Tails, he struck the beast squarely on the head, sending it crashing to the ground. Grabbing one of its tentacle-like tails, he roared:

"Up you go!!!"

With a mighty heave, Ay hurled the colossal beast out of the village, as if it were a mere toy.

The sheer power of lifting and throwing the massive Eight-Tails was awe-inspiring.

The Eight-Tails, recognizing its opponent, bellowed in rage. Tentacles flailed wildly, smashing the ground as a torrent of water erupted from its mouth, instantly transforming a low-lying area into a massive lake.

In water, the Eight-Tails moved with even greater agility. Its powerful arms, tentacles, and horns all became deadly weapons.

Only a handful of Kumogakure's elite could withstand its attacks; others were either gravely injured or killed outright.

"Where is the sealing team?!" Ay roared, striking away one of the Eight-Tails' tentacles.

A ninja quickly reported, "Lord Raikage, the sealing team is on their way, and they're bringing the sealing jar!"

Ay frowned, scanning the battlefield. Many Kumogakure shinobi lay injured or worse.

"All personnel, retreat 500 meters! I'll handle this myself!" he commanded.

Lightning surged around him, forming a visible cloak of electricity that crackled fiercely.

Extending a single finger, Ay emanated an aura of lethal precision.

"Hell Stab: One-Finger Strike!"

Thud!

He pierced a hole clean through the Eight-Tails.

"Moooo!!!"

The Eight-Tails bellowed in pain, retaliating with a powerful punch that sent Ay crashing into the ground.

Yet, to Tonari's amazement, Ay stood up immediately, seemingly unfazed.

"This is the perfected Lightning Release Chakra Mode?" Tonari murmured, awestruck. "To withstand a direct hit from the Eight-Tails without injury—that's the kind of unyielding defense I've always wanted. This is the limitless potential I aspire to achieve."

"This is the strength expected of a Kage, Tonari-kun."

Without looking, Tonari knew who had spoken—Orochimaru, still in disguise.

"Orochimaru-sensei, we should focus on how to extract something useful from the Eight-Tails while under the watchful eye of such a terrifying man," Tonari replied with a hint of resignation.
