Chapter 937: Assistant number 2 [2/2]
"No, that won't be necessary."
"Huh? What do you mean, Patron? If you are not going to have us exorcise them, how would you separate the demonkin from the Reapers?"
"Oh that? That's fine. Roach already told me how. These princes are Phantoms, so I think I have an idea. Much faster too."
"Huh? I don't follow Patron. What does that eve...."
Before Yvonne could press further, the Awakened approached. Their heavy footsteps made the ground shake. Roach and Juno arrived along with over ten Vithriss. Juno, having human-like skin, made her stand out despite also being a Vithriss.
According to Exa, she evolved to a higher class of being called a Vithriss Nobilis. It was like the difference between a common C-rank Vampire and a B-rank Noble Vampire. The same monster species, but their performance was leagues apart.
Roach, on the other hand, evolved from a Ranaxi to a Ranaxi Colossus. Which turned him from a toad to a lizard. But so long as they were part of the same line of the monster, the evolution was quite tame. Supposedly. at least that was how Exa explained it.
'If this is tame, what the fuck is he going to become if it's a big evolution?'
Of course, eventually they had to undergo a huge change somewhere along the line. It reminded me of the evolution paths in monster Isekai stories. In those types of media, the story reincarnates the protagonist as a monster rather than as a human.
It's common to see them start out as weak monsters: a skeleton, goblin, or slime. The protagonists must then fight to evolve into the top monster in the process. How they handled humans differed, but the ending was the same. The MCs all eventually turned into god-like beings who ruled ever after.
"Limitless. I was interested in these metallic beasts from before. Let me fight them."
A rough, raspy voice broke me out of my reverie. It came from the lizard covered in armor. He even began to stomp his feet like an excited child. His tail also smashed the ground repeatedly. It was as if his tail wanted to bludgeon the ground to death.
"Sure, I don't mind. I call them the soulless. The last time I fought you I couldn't use them that well. If it's with the new ones, I am sure I can bring you down even faster."
"Hehehe. Really? I look forward to it. Let's fight now!" Roach roared.
"My lord, Lady Bella has been sharing the video of your experiments. Please do not take Roach as the standard for the monster types. Even among the ones with hard skin, our species is quite near the top," Juno clarified.
"Oh? Good to know. We have even bigger guns coming soon," I announced with glee.
"E-Even bigger guns? Just how big would they be?" she stammered.
Just imagining the new goodies I would be buying from Zach made me very happy. Exa and I have been tweaking our shopping list down to the last dollar. By the time we assault Antarctica, my guns will be on par with a small country's.
"Yep. Ones that are the pride of humanity. Speaking of which, I need to get back to my experiments. Everyone, I will go now."
I kissed my {Kindred} goodbye. Then, I tossed the four princes like sacks of rice into the blessing field. When the clans of the princes tried to intervene, they were immediately silenced. The ones that did so were the Sirens and the Awakened.
As I went deeper into the blessing field, the girls stopped watching me and began to do their own thing. Bella, Aki, and Jo began discussing with each other. Robyn went to guard the fourth member of Riannon's hellcats.
Since I didn't throw my weight around, the other leaders tried to overwhelm Zanele. Amari and Olamide aided her, but it was clear that the other clans were not friendly. Their questions revolved around asking why the Soldats got to be the leaders of this new faction.
At least until Robyn sat by Zanele's side as her handler. After she thrashed Phantom after Phantom, the negotiations with the African were smooth. No one could even lift their heads and talk properly to Zanele. Not when my kitten had them all kiss the ground.
Seeing as the girls had everything covered, I refocused on the present. I recreated the {Shelter} construct I made for the demonkin for the new arrivals. Soon, I had five of them suspended in the air.
"Right, let's start the next experiment. How close to death should a Reaper be before the Dream Demon haunting him leaves? Exa, Ebony, and Ivory. Sacred's only."
Manifesting my favorite pistols, I aimed at the bags over the heads of the princes. Without so much as a warning, I pulled the trigger. A powerful, dazzling light impaled itself into a poor prince's brain. As no Dream demon popped out, it was a dud.
"So it's not in the brain. Moving on."
"AHHHH!!!" one of the Africans discussing with Zanele stood up. From his seat, he tried to speak out. Only for a powerful axe kick to slam into his shoulder. I saw their discomfort and frustration.
"Got any complaints about my Darling, you ugly motherfucker? EH?"
"U-Umm, no..."
But none could oppose the only Specter here.
"You seem tense, Patriarch. I assure you, my lord Limitless may be violent. But he would not murder your progeny. Not intentionally at least. You could even tell him to stop and not do anything if you are uncomfortable with your son being exorcised."
Even from where I stood, I could see the other clans squirm in their seats. It was obvious that they were not happy, but that hardly mattered if they did not have the power to resist. Jo and Robyn make everyone else think twice about doing so.
"I should leave it to them and just focus on my own work. Science!"
I then aimed at the heart of the same prince point-blank and pulled the trigger. A loud bang echoed. The prince still did not make a sound despite having a hole in both his brain and his heart. Sequentially, I shot every major organ, but still no demonkin popped out.
"Hmm. This is not working. Exa, M1014. Sacreds only."
[Done. You may fire when ready.]
Despite the clamor of the clans, I continued my experiment. I shoved the business end of the M1014 Benelli M4 into the prince's face and pulled the trigger. My simple action sent metallic pellets into his skull.
Along with golden light, I continued unleashing 12-gauge Sacreds point-blank. After three shots, the prince's head fell to the side, showing no sign of life. Large fragments of his skull shredded the bag, exposing the contents.
{AAGGGHHHHHHAAAAAAA!}
A loud scream echoed. I didn't know if it was the prince or the demonkin, and frankly, I didn't care. I understood that getting one to come out would be hard; at least I had some progress to speak of.
"Exa, get me 40mm Sacreds."
[Done.]
With 40mm blessed grenades in my hands, I approached the headless prince. Then, I began to shove the rounds down his neck into his body. After shoving three into his insides, I walked away. I aimed at his chest with my combat shotgun and squeezed the trigger.
An extremely powerful explosion of blessed energy erupted. Along with it came the loud, deep voice of a cursing dream demon. His figure slithered out of the charred corpse like a snake.
"YOU WILL REGRET THE DAY YOU CROSSED ME! I WILL KILL YOU!"
But, instead of getting scared, I smiled. "Finally, welcome, assistant number 2. Enjoy your stay.""
