Chapter 96 Hand combat
The meals Mari brought were not that different from the ones Xavier was used to only that they were more meat in the food, 50 percent of the food was just meat but Xavier wasn't complaining.
As both of them ate he could see Mari sneaking glances at him, she was a female and he was a male and they were going to spend the night in the same bedroom.
Xavier wouldn't pass the opportunity but for now he was going to act reserved and not just jump in.
After eating two out of the three meals Xavier was filled up and kept the last one for later, Mari also brought water and one thing Xavier liked about the water here is that no water is too dirty to drink, just throw in a cleansing crystal and done, but it can't be done for large amounts like the ocean.
Now both of them were seated doing nothing and just staring into Mari's walls and ceilings, there was practically nothing to do but Xavier wasn't bored.

Xavier stared at the screen in front of him, his stats was still the same but he just wanted to look at it, the progress he was making was very good especially with the system quests.
Xavier eyes stopped on something as he looked at the screen, where his skill was displayed, there was a dot there which clearly wasn't there after he defeated the living knight.
'The system couldn't have given me something without me knowing right, I'm sure it's probably nothing...and what happened to my Mana.
'Maybe it was caused by the illusion mask, but I wasn't told it uses Mana'
"Mari"
"Yes" she answered immediately and turned towards Xavier.
"Does the illusion mask uses Mana to work?"
"No it doesn't, we have barely enough Mana, the crystal core of a beast filled with Mana was used to create it" she replied.
'That right, beasts don't really have that that much Mana or use magic'
"I usually train in the back to pass the time, would you like to join me?" Mari asked as she stood up.
"Okay" Xavier said and followed her through her bedroom where another door was that led outside to the back of the house where a fence covered a part meaning it was part of her land.
There's she built a dummy made with wood which she used for practice.
"I usually just train my punches but we can do something different, how do you train or maybe we should spar" Mari said.
Xavier knew hand to hand combat wasn't his forte, and since she was a beast she was physically stronger than him, but she didn't know that and she might be faster than him but this was another opportunity to get stronger.
"Alright let's spar" Xavier replied.
"Okay, don't use your full strength, we still have a dungeon to face tomorrow" Mari said which Xavier laughed.
"You ready?" she asked, a playful grin spreading across her face.
Xavier smirked. "Alright"
The sparring began without further warning. Mari dashed forward, her movements fluid and sharp. Xavier barely sidestepped her first punch, feeling the rush of wind as it missed his ribs. She was faster than he'd expected.
'Damn, she's fast' Xavier said inwardly, stepping back to create some distance.
Mari didn't respond; she was already attacking again, aiming a quick kick at his midsection. Xavier blocked it with his forearm but stumbled slightly from the impact. She was strong.
"You're holding back," Mari teased, "I know I told you to hold back but don't make it look like I'm stronger"
She was clearly stronger than him physically but Xavier didn't say anything.
Xavier grinned, deciding to test his agility. He feinted to the left, then darted to the right, aiming a low sweep at Mari's legs. She jumped effortlessly, her tail flicking in mid-air to maintain balance.
"Nice try," she said, landing gracefully.
Xavier straightened up, wiping a bit of sweat from his forehead, now he was going to try harder, Xavier began infusing Mana in his body.
"Of course I am," Mari said.
They continued exchanging blows, Xavier relying on his agility and quick reflexes while Mari used her strength and speed to keep him on edge.
Despite the friendly nature of their sparring, Xavier felt his body working harder than usual. Every dodge, every block, and every counterattack required precision and timing.
At one point, Mari launched a rapid series of punches. Xavier managed to parry most of them, but one grazed his shoulder. The impact sent a dull ache through his arm, even with his Mana covering his body.
"You're stronger than you look," Xavier said, shaking out his arm.
"Stop trying to make me look good, I haven't landed a decent punch yet" Mari replied.
The two went on for some minutes again with Xavier dodging or blocking her attacks and Mari dodging Xavier's.
The day was starting to get dark so they stopped with Xavier and Mari sweating, Mari tried to increase the speed of her attacks to catch Xavier off guard but he still managed to dodge them.
"I need a bath after this, this is one of the best training I've done, I usually just punch away at my training dull, or at a rock in the forest" Mari spoke.
"You punch at a rock in the forest?" Xavier asked.
"Whenever I'm angry usually, I'm sure you need a bath too, should I take mine first or do you want to?" Mari asked.
"What's wrong with taking a bath together" Xavier replied which made Mari face turn red immediately.
"Together, there's no...problem" Mari answered.
