Chapter 95 Dragon
"Did you say dragon?" Xavier asked again.
"Yes, there are dragon tamers in the city, but they are hard to meet, and I don't think any of them would want to go to the human continent unless to attack them, which is uncalled for since they didn't attack us," Mari spoke.
"Dragon tamers, tell me about them?" Xavier asked.
"Everyone knows about dragon tamers, it's the ultimate pinnacle of power, which also ended the lives of thousands of people"
"Ended their lives?"
"Not everyone can be a dragon tamer, but anyone can go to the dragon mountain; if you do not get accepted by any of the dragons, you won't leave there alive, and most dragons don't want to be tamed," Mari explained.
"So if you want to be a dragon tamer, you have to go to the dragon mountain and get a dragon to like you or you die a brutal death?" Xavier asked.
"That's it, and now people rarely visit the Dragon Mountain anymore, if 1000 people visit the mountain, most times only one of them returns, and there are plenty of times when no one returns"
'Well isn't that great, the only way to go back is to fly on a dragon, and how would I convince a dragon tamer who's going to be stronger than me, and the second choice is to get a dragon of my own, which sounds great, but the risk is death'
"Do you want to be a dragon tamer?" Mari asked.
"I'm sure everyone wants to be a dragon tamer" Xavier answered.
"Of course, that's everyone's dream, to be a dragon tamer and see the sky city but it's impossible, I think there are 7 dragons tamer alive right now"
"You said see the sky city?" Xavier asked.
"Yes, the city floating in the sky; it is said to be inhabited by gods and goddesses, and only dragon tamers are allowed," Mari spoke.
'Yet another strange thing, first a dragon mountain and now a sky city'
"So you can't go to the sky city with someone who isn't a dragon tamer?"
"Yes, dragons are smart creatures, and each of them has special abilities, no one knows what you need to have before you get chosen by a dragon, it isn't necessarily power, but most times it's power, and all dragons are shapeshifters"
"Shapeshifters...I think that's enough for the day" Xavier mumbled the last sentence under his breath.
He had already found out what he needed; there was a way to go back, now he just needed to figure out how to go back, and since taming a dragon isn't likely to happen, he would have to look for someone with a powerful teleportation spell.
"Here," Mari pointed to a house, and both of them walked towards it; it was quite moderate and looked nicer than most of the ones he had seen.
Mari opened the door and walked in with Xavier behind her; her house was mostly empty; she had three rooms: the living room, which he was currently in, and the bedroom, which he could see as the door was opened, and probably the bathroom.
She only had three chairs in her living room and nothing else, it was empty, she was an adventurer so it wasn't strange.
"We can spend the night here and go early tomorrow morning; if you're hungry, I can get you something to eat from the restaurant; you're paying for yourself," Mari said.
"How much for a complete meal?" Xavier asked.
"1 coin can get you three different meals; food is not as expensive as it is in the city," Mari said.
Xavier opened his inventory and handed her 2 coins, "Buy three complete meals, don't buy the same thing twice, and buy something for yourself"
"Ok, make yourself comfortable" Mari spoke as she went out.
Xavier was a stranger, but she didn't mind leaving him in her house because there was literally nothing he could steal.
[Inventory]
Xavier opened his inventory and brought out the illusion mask, then he went into the other room, which was a bathroom with a bath and a bucket of red cleansing crystal, he placed one of them inside the bath, making it crystal clear.
He had never seen a red cleansing crystal, but that wasn't important. As he took off the helmet, Xavier was sweating and let out a sigh of relief.
Next, he just put on the mask and thought of what a male Lilith would look like and opened his eyes; the mask had disappeared from his hand; he could still feel it on his face, though, then he looked at his reflection in the water.
He was now a beast, a wolf to be precise, with short ears and a somewhat similar face. He took off the cloak, too, and his skin was also different. He touched it, and it felt strange; he could also feel he had a tail.
The next moment, the door opened, and Mari walked in then Xavier opened the door to the bathroom and stepped outside.
Mari stared at him for some seconds before facing away; she dropped the meals she had brought, which were in a wooden bucket with all the meals on different plates inside.
"Is the burn on your face that bad that you have to use the illusion mark? I don't think anyone would mind; after all, you're an adventurer," Mari spoke.
'I thought beastkin has a great sense of smell; how come she couldn't tell I was human?'
"What if I told you I'm a rabbit?" Xavier asked.
"You're not; the cloak you're wearing smells like a rabbit, but you smell like a wolf, so I wouldn't believe you; I knew you were a wolf when I met you outside of the bakery," Maria said as she brought the bucket, to the center of the room where the chairs were.
'I smell like a wolf since we met, but I'm not a wolf, am I?' Xavier couldn't understand but he also didn't care that much since his stomach was already telling him to eat.
