Chapter 245: Chapter 245
Kid, known for his explosive temper and ruthless nature, wasn't the type to tolerate threats. The fact that he hadn't already lashed out at Law could almost be considered a show of restraint.
"Law, are you itching to be the target of my new abilities?" Kid snarled, glaring at him.
"Oh? You want to fight here? Fine by me. It's not my ship that'll be destroyed," Law replied nonchalantly.
"Hey! This is our ship!" Franky interjected angrily. "If you two want to fight, take it outside!"
The rest of the crew nodded in agreement, equally annoyed.
"If you want to kill me, go ahead. But remember, without me, you can't leave this island. My ability is the only way out," Law said with a smirk.
"I could just take one of your crewmates hostage to force you," Kid retorted, his tone menacing.
"Go ahead and try. If you think I care about my crewmates' lives, you're welcome to test that theory," Law replied, his tone cold and indifferent. His words sent a chill down his crewmates' spines.
"You bastard!" Kid seethed, his anger boiling over at Law's unyielding attitude.
"Listen, Eustass," Law continued, his voice calm but cutting. "The pirate world is about exchange and mutual benefit. If you can't demonstrate your value, why should we take you along? Even the Straw Hats wouldn't agree to that."
"Actually, I would," Luffy interrupted cheerfully, cutting Law off.
"Eh?" Law was momentarily stunned, staring at Luffy in disbelief.
"What's the big deal about taking a few more people along? Let's all go together!" Luffy said, grinning.
"Hey! Straw Hat, what are you talking about? Why would we bring another pirate crew along for no reason? What's in it for us?" Law protested.
"What's in it? Helping others, I guess?" Luffy said, his expression earnest.
"You're serious?" Law asked, his frustration growing.
"Relax, Tra-guy. After all, Porcupine-head helped us capture the Thousand-Winged Angel. Without him, we wouldn't have succeeded, and you wouldn't have gotten your reward," Luffy said casually.
"That's beside the point! What kind of pirate are you?! Hey, aren't you going to say something?!" Law shouted, turning to the Straw Hats.
"Well, Luffy's the captain. We follow his orders," Usopp said with a shrug.
"Yeah, if he's decided, there's no changing his mind," Chopper added.
"And honestly, it doesn't seem like a big deal," Franky said, crossing his arms.
The rest of the crew nodded in agreement.
"Still, Captain, Kid has a reputation for killing indiscriminately, even targeting defenseless civilians. Are you sure about this? He could betray us," Robin cautioned.
"It's fine. He can't beat me, and besides, if anything happens, I've got you guys," Luffy replied confidently.
"Aw, Luffy, you trust us so much!"
"Idiot! That's not a compliment!"
"Don't worry. Leave everything to us!"
"We'll keep an eye on them!"
The crew's reactions were a mix of embarrassment and determination, leaving Law utterly dumbfounded. His mouth twitched as he struggled to process the bizarre camaraderie.
"Hey, Straw Hat, who do you think you're saying can't beat you?" Kid growled, his temper flaring again.
"You," Luffy said innocently.
"You little—! Let's settle this right now!" Kid roared.
"Wait, Kid!" Killer quickly intervened, grabbing Kid to hold him back. "The priority is to work together and escape this place. Otherwise, you can forget about becoming Pirate King!"
"Shut up! I'm going to kill him!" Kid shouted, still fuming.
"What's wrong with him?" Luffy asked Law, looking genuinely puzzled.
"You should ask yourself that!" Law retorted, exasperated.
"Fine. This alliance is temporary. Once we leave Skull Island, I'm staying as far away from you as possible. Just being around you makes me feel like I'm losing brain cells!" Law declared, massaging his temples as if he had a headache.
After some effort, the three pirate crews managed to sit down and discuss their plan calmly.
"My ability lets me control metal with magnetism. I can make the ship fly if needed or use repulsion to speed up our flight," Kid explained grudgingly, his irritation still evident.
"Good. You'll serve as propulsion," Law said, quickly assigning him a role.
"Don't treat me like a tool!" Kid snapped.
"So, when do we move? If the screen you mentioned is real, the Marines must know we've grown stronger. They won't just let us leave," Law said, sipping his tea.
"Exactly. With our strength increased, it's likely the Marines are already setting up an ambush. If we try to leave now, they'll attack," Zoro speculated.
"If that's the case, it won't just be the Admirals. Sengoku and Garp might join the fight," Law said grimly.
"Wait! That's way too dangerous! What do we do?!" Usopp panicked.
"We shouldn't rush. This island is filled with powerful beasts. It's the perfect place to train and master our new powers. Once we're stronger, we can leave," Law suggested.
"Not a bad idea. It'll also let me observe your weaknesses," Kid sneered, earning glares from the Straw Hats.
