Marvel’s Most Normal Man: Just Let Me Make Coffee!

Chapter 12: Chapter 12: "One Goth Employee Wasn’t Enough"

Chapter 12: "One Goth Employee Wasn't Enough"

Lilia had been working at the café for about a week now, and while she was great at her job, she had a slight problem—she terrified customers just by existing.

She didn't yell or threaten anyone. She didn't mess up orders. She didn't even complain. But when a barista hands you a coffee and calmly says "Enjoy this while your existence lasts," it tends to put people off.

Still, I had to admit—business was steady. A lot of our regulars had learned to just accept her whole vibe.

Then, just when I thought things had settled, she walked in.

Tall, confident, and dressed like she had just come from a heavy metal concert, Hela strode up to the counter and crossed her arms. "You. Mortal. I require employment."

I blinked. "Excuse me?"

Lilia, standing at the register, turned her head. "You wish to work here?"

Hela nodded, her gaze still locked on me. "If you allowed her to work here, then clearly, you accept those of… unique standing."

I sighed. "First of all, I hired Lilia because she actually asked like a normal person. Second—why do you want a job here?"

Hela smirked. "A true ruler must understand the ways of the people."

Lilia tilted her head. "You were cast out and are seeking purpose."

Hela's eye twitched. "I was not cast out. I simply… chose to expand my dominion."

I pinched the bridge of my nose. "Okay, fine. You're hired."

She blinked. "Just like that?"

"Yeah, sure. Put on an apron." I tossed one to her.

She caught it but looked at it like it was poison. "You expect me to wear this?"

"Yes."

She glanced at Lilia, who was already wearing hers. "And you accept this?"

Lilia nodded. "It is a uniform."

Hela sighed dramatically but put it on. "Very well. But I shall not be taking orders."

"Great," I said. "You'll make drinks."

She narrowed her eyes. "I do not brew."

"You do now."

She scoffed but didn't argue.

I turned to Lilia. "You train her. She listens to you."

Lilia nodded. "Understood."

Hela shot her a glare. "I do not listen to you."

Lilia simply stared at her.

A long silence followed.

"…Fine." Hela grumbled.

I sighed, already feeling tired.

Loki, sitting at a table nearby, smirked. "This place gets more entertaining by the day."

Deadpool leaned against the counter. "Dude, I'm telling you—goth café employees are great for business."

I sighed again. This was my life now.
