Marvel’s Most Normal Man: Just Let Me Make Coffee!

Chapter 8: Chapter 8: "No Powers Allowed (Except for Coffee)"

Chapter 8: "No Powers Allowed (Except for Coffee)"

The morning rush had just begun, and I was already regretting my life choices.

Thor was sulking at his usual table, arms crossed, looking like someone had stolen his favorite toy. Loki sat across from him, flipping through a menu he had seen a hundred times. Hela sipped her tea with the air of someone watching her favorite drama unfold.

I set Thor's drink down with a sigh. "Okay, what's with the face?"

Thor huffed. "I cannot lift Mjolnir."

I blinked. "What?"

He pointed at the floor, where Mjolnir sat completely still. No lightning. No dramatic winds. Just… a heavy hammer that refused to budge.

Loki smirked. "Oh, this is delightful."

Thor shot him a glare before turning back to me. "I do not understand. This has never happened before."

I raised an eyebrow. "Have you tried, I don't know… picking it up?"

Thor grumbled but reached for his hammer. He heaved. Nothing happened. He tried again. Still nothing.

Hela grinned. "Looks like someone isn't worthy anymore."

Thor scowled. "That is not the issue."

Loki leaned forward, eyes glinting with amusement. "Are you sure? Perhaps you've grown too attached to this quaint little café life. Maybe you've lost your warrior's edge."

Thor growled but didn't respond. Instead, he turned to me. "Have you done something?"

I frowned. "Me? I'm literally just making coffee."

Thor exhaled, rubbing his temples. "This makes no sense."

Loki chuckled. "Oh, I think it makes perfect sense. Brother, perhaps you are simply… normal now."

Thor froze.

I blinked. "Wait. Are you saying Thor doesn't have powers?"

Loki gestured dramatically. "It seems the moment he steps foot in this café, his godly might vanishes."

Thor opened his mouth to argue, then paused. His brows furrowed. He flexed his fingers, then clenched his fist. "I… I do not feel weaker, but—"

Loki smirked. "And yet, you cannot lift Mjolnir."

Thor stared at his hammer. "This is impossible."

I scratched my head. "Or maybe you're just tired?"

Loki snorted. "Yes, of course. That must be it."

Hela sipped her tea, completely unbothered. "Oh, this is fun."

Thor groaned. "I will step outside."

He stood, stomped toward the door, and shoved it open. The moment he stepped outside—BOOM.

A sudden clap of thunder roared overhead. Wind swirled, lightning crackled, and Thor's entire presence seemed to shift. He flexed his fingers, and Mjolnir shot into his hand like a magnet.

Loki whistled. "Oh, now that is interesting."

Thor stepped back inside. Instantly, the wind died. The thunder stopped. Mjolnir thumped onto the floor like an ordinary lump of metal.

Silence.

Loki turned to me, eyes wide. "What are you?"

I blinked. "A guy who runs a café?"

Loki pointed at the hammer. "You—you just turned the God of Thunder into a mortal!"

Thor looked at me with a mix of awe and horror. "He's… right. Within these walls, I am… powerless."

Hela smirked. "Not that different from how you usually are, dear brother."

Thor ignored her. "This place is unnatural."

I rolled my eyes. "Or maybe it's just very cozy."

Loki groaned. "He doesn't even realize it."

I frowned. "Realize what?"

Loki gestured wildly. "You're nullifying divine power, and you don't even know how!"

I snorted. "Sounds fake, but okay."

Thor exhaled. "This is madness."

Hela leaned on her elbow, watching me with an amused glint in her eyes. "You know, I think I like you more and more."

I shrugged. "Glad someone does. Now, does anyone actually want coffee, or are we just debating reality today?"

Loki groaned into his hands. Thor sat down, looking utterly lost.

Hela just smiled. "I'll take a refill."
