MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith

Chapter 1394: The Path to Take (2)

"Wha—"

To no surprise, Valyr looked at her with shock and horror written all over his face, wondering when he mentioned the existence of his other identity to Arcane throughout their conversation.

Though, as he gave it a bit more thought, the young man eventually began to calm down, taking in a few deep breaths as he looked at her with a calm expression. "How… how did you know?"

"Aside from it being written all over your face?" joked Arcane as she softly chuckled. "In any case, I already knew about the existence of your alternate identity ever since you became my Emissary."

"I definitely found your case slightly interesting, but not really anything that surprising."

"As the personification and embodiment of magic itself, it would be more surprising for me to overlook such a thing than know about it," she continued, her tone that of reassurance. "Of course, I'm pretty sure that's not what you want to hear, so I'll let you know now that I have no plans of sharing this information with anyone else."

"…Thank you." At those words, it was only then did Valyr finally let out the sigh of relief he'd been holding in all this time.

Then, after giving it a bit more thought, he eventually came to the conclusion that it wasn't surprising for someone called the personification of magic to figure out that he was effectively two people in the same body.

After all, considering that Arcane was the personification of magic, then that meant that her scope of power far exceeded what both Adam and Eve were capable of.

With a level of power like that, then anything she wanted to know would probably be within her grasp already, whether she wanted to or not.

"Anyways, about your case." Seeing that she'd successfully removed most of the fear and paranoia Valyr had after the response she gave him, Arcane inwardly let out a sigh of relief as she elaborated on her earlier response.

"As I've mentioned before, it would be possible for your other body to practice the scripture… However, it would come with limitations."

"Limitations?" asked Valyr, hoping the woman in front of him would further clarify.

"For one, your other body is not connected to the concept of Arcane in any way," replied Arcane, giving him the explanation he wanted to hear. "If it were connected to the concept even through a subclass or something, then I might have been able to pull a few strings here and there."

"However, with none of that, then you would be limited to practicing the scripture on your other body to the level your current body can achieve."

Feeling like the way she worded her explanation was slightly confusing, Arcane decided to give Valyr an example. "Say you were able to practice the scripture up to the 9th level."

"If you were to practice the scripture on your other body, even if you had the talent and comprehension to do so, you would be limited to comprehending the scripture up to the 9th level."

"Of course, that limit is removed once you continue to comprehend the next levels of the scripture in your current body," she added. "If you were to practice it up to the 18th level this time, then the limit your other body would face this time around would be the 18th level."

"Got it," said Valyr with a nod, more or less understanding what she was trying to tell him.

At the same time, he inwardly let out a sigh of relief the moment he heard her explanation. After all, in his mind, he thought that the limitation his other identity would face while practicing the scripture was more stringent than what Arcane gave him.

If the limitation was just the level being capped to what his player self could achieve, then that was still something he could easily work with. In a way, it was as if there was no limitation in practicing the scripture in the first place.

Nevertheless, with that part of the scripture pretty much clarified, Arcane went ahead and explained the concept of the 81 Phases Mana Reformation Scripture to the young man.

After that, she told him that only the first 27 levels of the scripture would be given to him for the meantime, seeing no reason to give the remaining 54 levels of the scripture to him so soon.

After all, he was just about to start embarking on the path of improving his mana to its higher forms. What use would there be to the higher levels if he needed to transform his mana into True Arcana first?

"…And I guess that's that," said Arcane by the time she was done, letting out a faint sigh of relief after that. "Was there anything confusing about my explanation?"

"Nope." Valyr shook his head. "Pretty clear."

"Good." Arcane nodded in satisfaction. "As I've said before, the goal of the scripture is to purify your energy up to the point it evolves to the new form on its own. As long as you follow the steps for each level, I'm pretty sure it won't be long until you start using Arcana instead of mana."

"Speaking of purifying energy…" Although he nodded in response to her words, Valyr decided to take the opportunity to ask her the question that's been bothering him. "By that… are you perhaps talking about the Pure stage, 1st Cleansing stage, and so on?"

"I guess that's one way to call it, yes," replied Arcane after some time, taking a bit of time to recall a few memories she had on the matter. "If I remember correctly, the nine levels for every bottleneck correspond to Pure, the 3 Cleansings, the 3 Metamorphoses, Consummation, and then Ascension."

"Ascension is the level where you evolve your mana to its higher form."

"Wait a second…" Though the young man hastily committed the information to mind, Valyr went silent for a bit as another question soon came to mind. "I've been purifying the other types of energies in my other body in this manner."

"If reaching the 9th level means I could evolve energy to its higher form, then…"

"It depends." Arcane shrugged her shoulders. "Not all energies rely on that progression to reach a higher form. However, I won't stop you from experimenting. Just make sure to remain careful and vigilant while doing so."

"Seeing as you've brought the topic up as well, then I guess it's also the best opportunity to tell you to reach at least the 1st bottleneck of the scripture as fast as possible."

"Why's that?" asked Valyr in response.

"Because it's one of the requirements needed to evolve your class," replied Arcane, her expression becoming serious.

"Aside from that, although I know this will confuse you, I'll make sure to give you a proper explanation once the right time comes."

"But for now, if you can…"

"Evolve your class as soon as possible, Ataraxia."
