Chapter 1393: The Path to Take (1)
"Prima Quintessentia…" parroted Valyr the moment he heard the term, his eyes glistening as he continued to stare at the archaic golden back before him.
Though he had no clue what kind of significance achieving Prima Quintessentia really had, the young man was at least able to figure out that such a thing was incredibly difficult and incredibly rare to come across.
After all, if he were to compare it to something like Shadow Energy, then both mana and Shadow Energy were considered to be at the same tier.
Same went for Arcana and Void Energy, whose properties elevated both skills and spells that utilized its inferior versions to greater degrees.
Then, with enough time and effort, one would be able to take these energies one step further, pushing them into the realm of Essentia for mana, and Abyssal Energy for Shadow Energy.
Although he had no clue as to how he would even get his hands on Essentia in the first place, the young man already knew through Noel that he would have toil for a long time if he wanted to get a chance to transform the Void Energy his other body had into Abyssal Energy.
Naturally, with Abyssal Energy alone being difficult to obtain, much less could be said for what he initially thought was the energy's ultimate form, which was Chaos Energy.
At that level, Valyr surmised that even a single point of Chaos Energy was enough to wreak havoc on a planetary scale. In fact, he felt like it wouldn't even be far-fetched for someone to ruin an entire galaxy with it.
Yet, with Arcane informing him of the existence of Prima Quintessentia, it was no surprise that the young man eventually began to wonder…
What kind of energy would be a tier above Chaos Energy?
Although such questions and what-if scenarios continued to linger in his mind, Valyr made sure to pay most of his attention to everything Arcane told him, perking up his ears the moment he noticed she was about to explain more about the book she brought out.
"Before I talk about the technique in detail, I must first inform you that the 81 Phases Mana Reformation Scripture was only possible thanks to the efforts of the various Emissaries and True Apostles that came before you."
Hearing those words, Valyr nodded as a question came to mind. "How many of them had to work together to get the scripture to where it is?"
"A lot more than one would imagine," replied Arcane, faintly shaking her head as memories of the past gradually surfaced in her mind.
"If we were to assume that an Emissary was born every ten million years in the universe, and a True Apostle every hundred million…"
"Then, the scripture right before you had only become what it is today after 100 billion years."
"One…" Unsurprisingly, the number Arcane gave him left Valyr at a complete loss for words, his eyes widening in disbelief as he continued to stare at her.
How long was 100 billion years?
Through a series of coincidences and lucky encounters in his other identity, Valyr now had the ability to live for almost 2,500 years. Of course, that was only if he made sure that he didn't put himself in harm's way.
Then again, when compared to a number like 100 billion, 2,500 years felt like a drop of a drop in a massive bucket. After all, to get to that number, Valyr would have to have 40 million lives just to match such a figure.
Aside from that, even if he were to compare it to the amount of time Earth had taken to get to where it was today, 100 billion years was still a figure.
Within that amount of time, Earth could have been formed in the universe at least 7 times and have a bit more extra for an incomplete eighth one!
'I shouldn't think about that for now.' In the end, the young man decided to push his thoughts on the matter to the side for now, considering that the number given to him was only said for emphasis.
'Then again, True Apostle comes after Emissary, huh… good to know.'
Seeing that Valyr seemed to have processed everything she told him just now, Arcane gave him a slight nod in satisfaction before finally explaining the scripture in detail.
"Now, the scripture."
"The reason why the scripture is called the 81 Phases Mana Reformation Scripture is because there are 81 levels in total for you to complete if you want to push your mana to the pinnacle."
Taking note of the shock on Valyr's face after hearing those words, Arcane hastily followed it up with an explanation. "Of course, it's not mandatory for you to go through those levels in one go."
"In fact, only a handful of Emissaries and True Apostles have been able to practice this technique to its highest level."
"That's because these 81 levels are actually split into 9 major bottlenecks, with each one containing 9 levels each," she continued.
"Once you complete the first 9 levels of this scripture, you'll be able to break through the first bottleneck, allowing you to evolve your mana into the simplest form of Arcana."
"Lesser Arcana."
"Lesser Arcana?" Valyr asked back, looking back at her in confusion. "Doesn't mana directly evolve into Arcana, though?"
"In usual circumstances, yes." Arcane nodded in agreement. "However, for the sake of decreasing the difficulty of the technique for future generations, the ones who worked on the scripture made the decision to split the potency of each evolution into three tiers."
"Lesser, Greater, True."
"That applies to all three tiers of energy above mana, actually," she continued. "Reach the 1st bottleneck, you get Lesser Arcana. Reach the 2nd, you get Greater Arcana."
"Reach the 3rd, you get True Arcana, which is equivalent to the strongest form of Arcana that exists in the universe."
"That pattern continues until you reach True Quintessentia, allowing your energy to only be one step away from becoming the strongest form of mana in existence."
"I see." Although he still had no clue as to how difficult practicing the scripture was, Valyr had now become more than eager to practice it, especially after hearing all of the explanations Arcane gave on the technique.
Though, just as he was about to ask if he could practice the technique at that very moment, a question on the technique's usage popped up in his mind.
"Say, Arcane," said Valyr after a bit of silence. "Is it possible for another person to practice the scripture?"
"If they're an Agent, an Emissary, or a True Apostle of the Arcane, then yes," answered Arcane with a nod. "The scripture was meant to be practiced by them, anyway."
"But what if it was a person who doesn't have any of those classes?" asked the young man in return. "Would it be possible for them to practice the scripture?"
"They wouldn't be able to," said Arcane in response, immediately shooting down the possible plan Valyr had in mind.
However, just as when he thought all hope was lost…
"But if it's in the case of your other body… then it might just be possible."
Arcane told him those words.
