Moonborn: The Lost Legacy

Chapter 24: Keld vs Aria

Keld lay in bed, lost in a deep slumber, his blanket tangled around him. The morning light spilled through the half-open door as Aria, Elowen, and Cassian stepped inside.

"He's still sleeping," Aria sighed, arms crossed.

"This happens every day," Elowen said, shaking her head. "Want to try waking him up?"

Aria smirked. "For sure."

She approached Keld, leaned over, and gently shook his shoulder. "Keld," she called. When he didn't stir, she shook him harder. "Keld! Wake up!" Still, no response. Frustration built in her eyes as she shook him even more violently, but Keld remained motionless, lost in his dreams.

Aria turned to the others. "He's not waking up."

Cassian grinned. "Let me try."

He took a deep breath and shouted, "Keld! Your sister is coming to wake you up! And she's angry!"

Keld's eyes shot open in sheer panic. "Huh?! No, no, no—!"

With a startled yelp, he tumbled out of bed, landing with a loud thud. The room erupted into laughter.

Rubbing his head, Keld scowled. "What the hell are you all doing in my room?!"

Aria chuckled. "Did you forget? We have a match today. Get ready."

Keld blinked. "Oh, yeah... but can I get five more minutes—"

"No!" Aria cut him off, dragging him out of bed. "Up. Now."

The training hall buzzed with anticipation as Keld and Aria stood in the center, facing each other. Ryulune and Seluna had arrived, watching from the sidelines. The energy in the air was electric.

Ryulune raised his hand. "Three... two... one... Fight!"

Aria wasted no time. She conjured Six Air Missiles and launched them forward. Keld slammed his palm against the ground, summoning a massive Iron Shield that rose before him. The missiles crashed into it, dispersing harmlessly.

But the moment he looked up, a jolt of danger surged through him. Aria was already above him, crackling with energy. "You're wide open!"

A beam of electricity shot toward him. Keld barely dodged, teleporting behind her in midair using his Light Step. Fire surged around his fist as he swung at her.

Aria twisted midair, bending impossibly fast. With a sharp spin, she caught his neck between her thighs and hurled him downward.

Keld crashed into the ground but reacted instantly, flames erupting around him. A Fire Tornado spiraled upward, trapping Aria inside. The scorching winds roared as Keld gathered fire around his hands, shaping them into Flaming Claws. He infused his legs with light and launched himself at her.

Aria countered in an instant. She formed Water Claws, her body spinning through the vortex. Their attacks met in a deafening clash—fire and water colliding with force that shook the hall. Steam exploded outward, shrouding the battlefield in mist.

A moment of silence hung in the air.

Then—

Clang! A metallic echo rang through the mist.

As the steam cleared, everyone gasped. Keld wielded twin daggers, one wreathed in fire, the other glowing with light. Aria stood opposite him, a blade of pure energy in each hand.

They lunged. Their weapons clashed at blinding speed, sparks flying as they pushed each other to the limit. Keld's speed increased with each strike, his Light-Infused Strikes moving too fast to follow. Aria matched him blow for blow, conjuring a second sword to counter his relentless assault.

The hall trembled as their clashes intensified. A shockwave erupted between them, sending both skidding backward. Without hesitation, Aria unleashed a barrage of Blazing Slashes, forcing Keld to weave and dodge with precision.

Then, she vanished.

A blur of red appeared before him. Too fast! Before he could react, a Flaming Fist struck his face, sending him hurtling into the wall.

Keld groaned, lifting his head with a smirk. "That all you got?"

Aria's eyes widened as she sensed it—tiny Fire Bombs floating around her. "Crap."

The explosion sent her crashing into the opposite wall. Smoke filled the air as both fighters struggled to stand, bruised and battered, yet exhilarated.

Aria wiped blood from her lip. "I've never felt this alive in a fight."

Keld grinned. "I know what you mean. But let's end this."

They discarded their weapons. The hall fell silent as the tension peaked.

Aria's right arm crackled with electricity, while her feet glowed with light, enhancing her speed. Keld reinforced his fist with iron and fire, light coursing through his legs for one final burst.

A heartbeat of stillness.

Then they charged.

Fists met in an earth-shattering collision. A blinding Final Impact explosion rocked the hall, knocking both fighters backward.

Silence.

As the dust settled, Ryulune stepped forward and declared, "The match is a draw!"

Seluna raised her hands, enveloping them in a soothing Healing Barrier. Their wounds began to heal, yet neither of them moved, simply lying there, exhausted yet smiling.

They had fought with everything they had.

And for the first time, they had truly enjoyed the battle.
