Multiverse Gacha

Chapter 450: [448] Abduction

Seeing Yuiri and Shio captured, Kojou's fury surged to new heights.

"Let them go!" he bellowed.

"Oh? Do you think I'll just let them go because you said so?" Beatrice replied mockingly, her voice dripping with disdain.

"You'll regret this. Regulus Aurum!"

Roar!

With a thunderous cry, Regulus Aurum reappeared, its body crackling with golden lightning as it charged at Beatrice with terrifying speed.

Beatrice merely smirked, unshaken by the sight of the fearsome familiar. There was no denying that the Fifth Familiar, Regulus Aurum, possessed immense power, especially with its mastery over lightning.

However, the familiar couldn't unleash its full potential under Kojou's incomplete control. And Beatrice, having merged with the Commandment of Wrath, had undergone her own transformation. The gap in their strength was undeniable.

With a flick of her blood whip, a dense web of crimson thorns erupted, expanding rapidly to intercept Regulus Aurum mid-flight.

The lion found its movements ensnared, its limbs bound by countless blood-red vines. Despite its desperate attempts to free itself, the sheer number of thorns made escape impossible.

"Pathetic," Beatrice sneered. "Right now, you're so weak that even I can suppress you."

With another crack of her whip, she struck Regulus Aurum, shattering its form in an instant. The blood whip in her hand wasn't an ordinary weapon—it was her familiar.

Enhanced by the curse of the Commandment of Wrath, her whip was no longer just a familiar but a force to be reckoned with. While it couldn't rival the familiars of a Primogenitor, it had surpassed most others, capable of matching even elder-class familiars.

Coupled with Beatrice's superior abilities as its host, the outcome was inevitable.

"Damn it!" Kojou growled, frustration and anger bubbling to the surface. "I've only awakened one familiar so far!"

Under the influence of the Commandment of Wrath, his emotions spiraled out of control. His anger was now a double-edged sword, fueling his power while eroding his reason and composure.

Yet, as his rage grew, so too did the dormant power within him begin to stir.

Kojou might have been inexperienced and unrefined, but he was still the Fourth Primogenitor. His emotional turbulence was a catalyst, awakening the slumbering might deep within him.

Beatrice noticed the shift almost immediately. Deciding not to risk further escalation, she tightened her grip on her captives. With a leap, she soared into the air, taking Yuiri and Shio with her.

Previously, Beatrice had been unable to fly. But with the Commandment of Wrath's dark power, she could now manifest wings of shadow, allowing her to take to the skies effortlessly.

"Hey! If you want to fight him, fight him! Why are you dragging us into this?" Shio shouted, struggling against her restraints.

Beatrice chuckled at the question. "You must be the Fourth Primogenitor's media, yes? If I take you both, he'll be furious. That's exactly what I want."

"What kind of twisted logic is that?!"

"You don't need to understand. All you need to know is that you're my captives now," Beatrice said coldly, shutting down any further discussion.

Without giving Kojou a chance to pursue, Beatrice bolted into the night, her blood whip wrapped tightly around Yuiri and Shio.

She had no intention of delivering them to Natsuki Minamiya's home. Instead, she planned to take them to her own domain.

Her goal was simple: to transform these women into her master's personal servants.

After all, both of them were closely tied to the Fourth Primogenitor—one of them even served as his primary familiar medium. Abducting them both would undoubtedly deal a significant blow to Kojou.

And if she trained them properly and presented them as obedient servants to her master, Kojou, it would surely please him. After all, they were his chosen.

Confident in her plan, Beatrice moved swiftly under the cover of darkness, carrying Yuiri and Shio toward her stronghold—the Magecraft Foundry.

"Get back here, damn it!"

Back at the pier, Kojou remained rooted to the spot, consumed by helpless rage. The one thing he couldn't do—fly—had become his greatest limitation.

As Beatrice's presence faded into the night, the oppressive influence of the Commandment of Wrath also began to wane. Slowly, the curse unraveled, loosening its grip on him.

Within minutes, Kojou returned to his senses. Clarity came crashing down like a cruel wave, leaving him with a sinking feeling in his chest. Yuiri and Shio, two people he couldn't afford to lose, had been abducted by Beatrice.

Frustration gnawed at him. It was Yuiri who had helped him awaken Regulus Aurum, his fifth familiar. Losing her, along with Shio, hit him harder than any physical blow.

The repeated defeats and growing sense of inadequacy weighed heavily on Kojou's heart. He clenched his fists, recalling the stinging words of his rival, August. Even worse, Yuiri and Shio weren't just allies—they were sent to him by the Lion King Organization as his spiritual mediums.

A dangerous thought crept into his mind. If Shio's blood holds the same potential as Yuiri's, perhaps I can awaken a second familiar. Two familiars would elevate his strength exponentially. The gap between wielding one and two familiars was monumental, especially for someone like him.

But that hope was snatched away. Both spiritual mediums were gone, leaving him powerless. It was a humbling realization. Some Fourth Primogenitor I turned out to be, he thought bitterly.

Despite his anger, Kojou couldn't pursue Beatrice. She had already vanished. However, something stood out in his mind: Beatrice's power, while formidable, had its limits. She was strong enough to suppress him, yes, but not strong enough to kill his familiar outright. This gap in her strength gave him a sliver of hope.

But for now, the damage was done. The Lion King Organization's carefully chosen mediums, sent to assist him, had been taken away in one fell swoop.

...

Meanwhile, in the opulent banquet hall of the Oceanus Grave II, August and his entourage were enjoying a lavish feast.

The grand chamber was filled with beautiful people—men hoping to approach the women in August's group, and women eager to capture the attention of the charismatic August himself.

However, all these hopefuls were swiftly intercepted by Natsuki Minamiya. Known as the Witch of the Void, her mere presence was enough to deter any unwanted advances.

"Hey, it looks like one of your subordinates left," Natsuki commented, her tone casual but sharp.

"Beatrice?" August replied without much concern.

"Who else?"

"Let her be," he said with a dismissive shrug. "Judging by the magical fluctuations earlier, she must've clashed with Kojou."

Natsuki frowned, her gaze narrowing. "What exactly are you planning, August?"

He smirked mischievously. "If you want answers, Natsuki-chan, you'll have to dig a little deeper yourself."

Rolling her eyes, Natsuki shot him a withering glare. "As if your face deserves that much effort."

Clearly uninterested in continuing the conversation, Natsuki turned her attention elsewhere, leaving August to his devices.

Just then, Kanon Kanase approached, carrying a small tray filled with an assortment of delicacies and sweets. Her innocent smile lit up the room as she placed the tray before August.

"August-niisan, I picked out some of the best food for you," she said warmly.

"Ah, my sweet Kanon-chan," August said, his grin widening as he accepted the tray. "You're the only one who knows how to take care of me."

"They're not as good as the treats you make," Kanon admitted bashfully, "but I think they're still pretty tasty."

August chuckled. "So that's it—you're craving my desserts, aren't you, Kanon-chan?"

"That's not true! I was just worried about you!" Kanon protested, though her reddened cheeks betrayed her.

"Sure, sure, I believe you," he teased, patting her gently on the head.

Nearby, Yukina Himeragi and Sayaka Kirasaka couldn't help but glance enviously at Kanon. She was clearly a favorite of August, basking in his affection and attention. Compared to Kanon, their treatment felt worlds apart, leaving them to wonder if they'd ever receive the same level of care.
