Chapter 244: Chapter 243: The All-For-One Experiment
Thus, there was no concrete evidence to prove that Kaminari had killed anyone. Sure, the burns on the Black Tiger Gang members' corpses could indicate that Kaminari used his Quirk to injure them.
However, the real issue lay in the fact that the bodies also showed severe punctures and lacerations, which were clearly the fatal injuries.
These kinds of injuries? Well, there just so happened to be a Pro Hero on the scene capable of inflicting them: Snatch.
Everyone knew that Snatch's sand could harden to a density comparable to steel. He was entirely capable of "creating" weapons that could pierce or tear through flesh, leaving behind exactly those kinds of wounds.
And so, the plan was simple: Principal Nezu and the others intended to shift the most serious blame onto Snatch. In this way, Kaminari would only be culpable for injuring people with his Quirk.
But since Kaminari's use of his Quirk had been authorized by U.A. High School as his guardian, it could be argued that no wrongdoing had occurred. With this, the major complications would be reduced to minor issues.
Of course, even if Snatch was a Pro Hero, carrying the blame for over a dozen deaths wouldn't be easy. At the very least, his Hero license would be revoked temporarily.
Yet Snatch ultimately agreed to the plan.
Don't misunderstand, it wasn't because he had a special fondness for Kaminari. Sure, he admired the kid's talents, but not enough to willingly risk his own career for him. After all, their relationship wasn't particularly deep, even if Kaminari had taught him some advanced sand-control techniques.
The real reason Snatch agreed was the deal offered by Nezu, Yaoyorozu and the Mitsui Foundation.
As part of their arrangement, Snatch's agency would receive significant backing from all three parties. This meant that even if his license were revoked temporarily, his agency wouldn't suffer any long-term damage.
Moreover, he would gain the favor of U.A., the Yaoyorozu family, and the Mitsui Foundation—three powerhouses whose support could elevate his standing within the Hero community. He wouldn't even need to keep this arrangement a secret. With everyone knowing that his agency had their backing, his reputation would be untouchable.
That was the real temptation.
Honestly, with such lucrative conditions on the table, who in their right mind would refuse? Not to mention, the punishment was only a temporary revocation of his license, not a permanent loss of his Hero credentials. If it had been the latter, Snatch might have hesitated, but for the former? It was a no-brainer.
Meanwhile, Yaoyorozu Manshi took on the responsibility of handling police relations. After all, even with their airtight plan, there was no guarantee the authorities wouldn't complicate things.
With the three groups working in tandem, their influence spread like an undercurrent beneath the cover of night, quietly reshaping the situation around Kaminari Denki.
---
By the next day, the news of a villain attack on a police station in Saitama had already made its way into the morning papers and onto the streets.
Meanwhile, Kaminari had been transferred to a police car bound for the Saitama Police Headquarters.
Oddly enough, the interrogation everyone expected never happened. Instead, Kaminari was escorted to a new detention room another solitary cell, unsurprisingly and left to wait.
"Three days…"
Kaminari muttered to himself as he stared up at the surveillance camera mounted in the corner of the room, his tone laced with boredom.
---
At the same time, somewhere in a dark, hidden space.
"Are you ready?"
All For One's distinct hoarse voice broke the oppressive silence, carrying with it a sense of anticipation.
He couldn't help but look forward to this moment.
If Kaminari's proposed method worked, it would mean he could create powerful subordinates without the usual risks or casualties!
In the past, when All For One sought out and stole Quirks, his primary focus had always been on compatibility, finding combinations that could produce a synergistic effect greater than the sum of their parts.
This approach worked flawlessly for himself, as he faced no risk of collapse regardless of how many Quirks he absorbed.
However, applying this same logic to others had led to countless failures over the years. Many of his "test subjects" had died, and even the Nomu that survived were the result of extensive trial and error.
But Kaminari's approach was fundamentally different. While it restricted the selection of Quirks to those of a similar type, making the process inherently more challenging, it could theoretically eliminate the risk of collapse entirely.
If this method succeeded, All For One could potentially create subordinates who were both powerful and fully functional, without the mindless limitations of the Nomu.
"Ready," replied the man in the white lab coat, his perpetually fake smile plastered across his face. He stepped aside, revealing what lay behind him.
"BOSS!"
A black-haired young man with striking blue eyes, who had been pushing a white medical bed forward, immediately stopped in his tracks. Seeing All For One before him, he dropped to one knee, his face alight with excitement.
"I called you here because I want to grant you even greater power," All For One said, his tone steady but brimming with authority. "Power that will set you apart from the rest of the weaklings. This is what you've always desired, isn't it?"
All For One had reviewed the young man's background thoroughly. While the man's ambitions far outstripped his actual abilities, his loyalty was undeniable. It was this combination of ambition and unwavering devotion that had earned him this opportunity.
"Thank you, BOSS!" the young man exclaimed, his voice trembling with emotion. "I swear, with this power, I will carry out your every command without fail!"
"It was your loyalty that set you apart from the others and gave you this chance. Don't squander it."
With that, All For One gestured toward the unconscious woman lying on the bed.
"Your Quirk allows you to extract water from your own body and control it externally," he explained. "But because of this, you have to drink water frequently to avoid dehydration whenever you use your ability."
"Yes, BOSS!"
The young man nodded fervently. This was indeed the greatest flaw in his Quirk. While he considered his water control skills to rival those of any Pro Hero, the limitations of his ability had always held him back.
"And now, you have a chance to overcome that limitation," All For One continued. "Because this woman's Quirk can complement yours perfectly."
"What's her Quirk?" the young man asked eagerly, his gaze fixed on the unconscious woman.
"It's a simple ability," All For One replied. "In fact, many who prioritize combat effectiveness would dismiss it as useless. Her Quirk allows her to draw moisture from the air and replenish her body's water reserves. That's all."
The man in the white coat adjusted his glasses with a sly smile. "In other words, she never needs to drink water. She'll never get thirsty or suffer from heatstroke, it's a purely utilitarian ability."
The young man's blue eyes widened in realization, his excitement growing. "This… this Quirk… it's incredible!"
"And if you successfully absorb her ability," All For One added, "I will send you to capture another individual whose Quirk, 'Flood Manipulation,' will provide the final piece you need. With that, your control over water will become unparalleled."
"I'll be perfect!"
The young man's heart raced with anticipation. The thought of evolving his Quirk filled him with awe and an even deeper respect for All For One.
"Then let's begin."
