Chapter 247: Chapter 246: Stay, Kyoka!
The sound of the doorbell echoed through the house. Kaminari quickly left his room to answer, his thoughts filled with the anticipation that Kyoka must have arrived.
"Finally! I'm so glad you're okay, Kaminari!"
But as he opened the door, the first face he saw wasn't Kyoka's, it was Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu. Kaminari's smile instantly dropped.
He had been ready to hug his new girlfriend, but seeing Tetsutetsu there immediately killed his mood.
"Oh… You're here too. Come in," Kaminari said with a resigned tone, glancing behind Tetsutetsu to see Kyoka standing there. He gave her a nod in greeting and stepped aside to let them both enter.
"Hey, hey, what's with that expression?" Tetsutetsu asked, clearly offended as he stepped inside. "Aren't you happy to see me? I was worried about you all day yesterday, you know!"
"What's so exciting about seeing you? Haven't I seen you enough already?" Kaminari shot back with a casual wave of his hand. Turning toward the living room, he called out, "Dad, Mom! Kyoka and Tetsutetsu are here!"
"Okay, got it! Dinner will take a little longer, your mom's been busy cooking up a feast," his father replied from the couch. His tone was gentle but carried a meaningful weight when he glanced at Kyoka.
Tetsutetsu and Kyoka stepped further into the house, where they could see Kaminari's mother bustling around the kitchen in her Pikachu-themed apron. The three teens sat down on the couch near Kaminari's father.
"Wait, hold on! What's going on with you two?"
Tetsutetsu had planned to ask Kaminari about what happened yesterday, but as soon as he sat down, he noticed something different about how Kaminari and Kyoka were acting. The atmosphere between them was… unusual.
"Kyoka, you haven't told him yet?" Kaminari asked, glancing at her with a teasing smile.
Kyoka nodded shyly. For all her usual confidence, she felt a bit embarrassed in this situation.
"Alright, fine. Kyoka and I are dating now," Kaminari announced cheerfully, his tone matter-of-fact.
"Wait, what?!"
Tetsutetsu stared at them in stunned silence, his mouth hanging open as he tried to process what he'd just heard. It took him a few seconds to react, but even then, he didn't know what to say.
"Okay, okay, no need to make a big deal out of it," Kaminari said, waving his hand dismissively. "But don't go spreading this around the class, alright? Just let things happen naturally."
"Uh… yeah, sure," Tetsutetsu replied blankly, still trying to wrap his head around the news.
"Anyway, let me tell you what happened yesterday."
Kaminari quickly shifted the topic, launching into an abridged version of the events he'd been through recently. However, he intentionally left out the fact that he had become a teacher at U.A. High School. He felt it wasn't something that should be casually mentioned yet; he wanted to discuss it with Principal Nezu first before letting the news spread.
"Dinner's ready!"
Kaminari's mother called out cheerfully, stepping into the living room. Her apron still on, she made her way over and gently pulled Kyoka to her side.
"Come sit next to me tonight," she said warmly, guiding Kyoka to a chair at the dining table.
Kaminari blinked, watching as his mother placed Kyoka in his usual spot. Left with no choice, he ended up sitting next to Tetsutetsu instead.
---
About an hour later, dinner had come to an end. Kaminari's mother had prepared a variety of dishes, each as delicious as they were delicate, though the portions were notably small, true to the style of traditional Japanese cuisine.
As everyone settled back onto the couch, Kaminari suddenly remembered something.
"Oh, by the way, I wanted to ask you something," he said, drawing everyone's attention. His mother remained in the kitchen, cleaning up and preparing a fruit platter.
"What is it?" Tetsutetsu asked, his curiosity piqued.
Kyoka, sitting silently next to Kaminari, tilted her head slightly in interest.
"Well, after the final exams, I'm planning to launch the second manga after Pokémon. I was wondering if you wanted to 'participate' in it," Kaminari explained with a grin. His tone was casual, but his eyes sparkled with excitement.
Tetsutetsu's face lit up immediately. "Of course I want in! What's the new manga about?"
Previously, in Pokémon, Tetsutetsu had been featured as a Steel-Type Gym Leader. He had gone three rounds in a battle against Kaminari's character before ultimately conceding defeat and awarding the badge. Tetsutetsu's father had proudly bragged about it to everyone, even inviting relatives and friends to watch the episode together.
"What about you, Kyoka?" Kaminari asked, turning toward her.
"Are you the protagonist again?" Kyoka asked softly, her head tilting cutely as she waited for his answer.
"Not this time," Kaminari replied. "I'll be in it, but as a supporting character."
In truth, he had briefly considered making himself the protagonist instead of Muto Yugi, but ultimately decided against it.
After all, Muto Yugi had a unique charm that was hard to replicate. Unlike Ash from Pokémon, who could arguably be replaced without much impact, Yugi was an essential figure in Yu-Gi-Oh! Kaminari felt it wouldn't be the same without him.
The same went for Seto Kaiba. Kaminari had initially thought Shoto Todoroki might fit the role, but after sketching him in the iconic Kaiba style, it just didn't feel right. Todoroki lacked the over-the-top arrogance and intensity that defined Kaiba's character.
"Pikachu, project the characters for Muto Yugi, Seto Kaiba, and myself," Kaminari said.
The Pikachu sitting obediently at his feet twitched its long yellow ears before projecting three glowing images into the air.
"Whoa!" Tetsutetsu exclaimed, his voice filled with excitement.
"These designs are amazing…" Kyoka muttered, staring at the characters in awe.
"Are these the main characters for the new manga?" Kaminari's father asked, stepping closer to take a look. To him, these weren't just illustrations, they were future moneymakers.
Kaminari gave a brief introduction to Muto Yugi and Seto Kaiba, then pointed to the third character, which was based on himself. The figure had a wicked grin, exuding an air of menace and danger.
"In Yu-Gi-Oh!, I'm playing the role of Marik Ishtar, the heir to the Tomb Keeper family. Because of a ritual, he develops a second personality that's cruel and violent."
Kaminari gestured to Pikachu, who then projected three massive figures behind the characters: a radiant golden phoenix for Marik, a red dragon for Yugi, and a towering blue warrior for Kaiba.
"And like the other two, Marik wields one of the God Cards. His is the strongest—The Winged Dragon of Ra!"
"Wait, so you're playing the villain this time?" Tetsutetsu asked, clearly surprised.
"Yep," Kaminari said with a nod.
"What about Kyoka and me?" she asked curiously.
"I haven't decided yet. That's why I'm asking for your permission first. I'll also check with everyone else at school tomorrow to see who's interested," Kaminari explained.
"Got it," Kyoka replied with a small smile. She glanced at the time and stood up. "I should head home now. We've got school tomorrow."
"Uh… yeah, I should get going too," Tetsutetsu said, following her lead.
Kaminari hesitated for a moment before speaking. "How about… you stay here tonight, Kyoka? We can go to school together in the morning."
"What?!"
Kyoka froze, her thoughts spinning into a chaotic mess. Her face turned bright red as all sorts of ideas raced through her mind.
At the same time, the entire room fell silent. Kaminari's father, Tetsutetsu, and his mother, who had just walked in holding a fruit platter all stared at him in shock.
The awkwardness in the air was almost palpable.

Just completed one of the ffs I'm working on, and I want to pick another one.
Is there a fic you saw on MTL that was good but so horrible that you can't read it? Or maybe one you enjoyed reading that was dropped? Comment them (with the raw title or link); I'll check them out.
Please don't recommend brain rot, I'm already suffering enough with some of the fics I'm working on xD.
