Chapter 128: Time of Human Crisis (Conclusion) Part 2
Glasses Man: "What I'm talking about is the identity as a malevolent being."
"Oh," Chen responded, removing her hat and manipulating the title above her head to change randomly.
"Haha," Glasses Man laughed, extending his hand warmly to shake with Chen: "Welcome, my fellow Transcendent."
Clap clap clap clap—
The malevolent beings standing on both sides also clapped their hands smilingly.
"This is truly marvelous," Glasses Man marveled, "Chen Yu, the one representing all of humanity and stealing the show today, has a wife who happens to be a malevolent being."
"I...I'm his sister."
"Oh sorry, you're siblings," Glasses Man exclaimed in surprise. "Then why are you so handsome, while he is so ugly?"
Chen Yu: "..."
"Don't be so biased," the bearded man joked, "I'm also a Transcendent, and I firmly stand on the side of justice too."
Glasses Man's expression suddenly grew solemn: "I'd like to slaughter you too."
Bearded Man: "..."
"Your kind must have a different heart, playing that game very cleverly," Chen Yu sighed.
"That's still better than you demons who always exploit your own kind," Tall Glasses Man retorted.
After a round of witty verbal exchanges.
Chen Yu and the others completed the log, and followed the bearded man deeper into the "cave."
The pathway behind, the space expanded even further.
And it was orderly divided into many areas.
Entertainment, accommodation, plaza, restaurant, and even a commercial area.
"People" coming and going.
Quite bustling.
Standing at the forefront of the plaza, Chen Yu could clearly see many human faces pale as death "displayed" inside numerous shop windows.
"What…what's this situation!" Ms. Chen gasped in shock, pointing fearfully at a distant display window: "Selling people?!"
"What? Where's the beauty?"
Chen instantly perked up, looking in the direction Ms. Chen was pointing, his eyes narrowing into slits: "There's nothing there."
Chen Yu: "Not beauty, selling people. Selling live people."
"Good heavens!" Chen exclaimed in shock: "Your eyesight has gotten better than mine now."
Chen sighed, "Dad, you shouldn't be surprised by that."
"Oh right, shit! Why would a store sell people?!" Chen recognized belatedly.
"Where there is demand, there will be transactions," the bearded man shrugged. "In places where intelligent beings exist, there will be commerce and capital. Those being sold here are criminals who have committed heinous crimes in society, the kind whose death a hundred times wouldn't satisfy the public's outrage. The powerful Transcendents don't care about them.
Naturally, it's the 'evil beings' who act in the name of justice."
"Is that so." Chen Yu remained noncommittal.
"Well, it's kind of like that," the bearded man laughed. "All these evil beings were once human, and most of them have some form of a moral line. But having become 'evil beings', they have to eat brains, they can only target those who deserve to be shot, reduce some of their inner unrest. You know, my sister had to do the same thing at first."
Upon hearing this, Chen Yu observed the evil beings on the plaza, whose degree of "corruption" varied, and asked: "What percentage of these evil beings have a bottom line?"
"Eighty percent," the man gestured.
"And the remaining twenty percent?"
"Of the remaining twenty percent, ten percent are those who'd rather die than consume," the bearded man pointed towards a large dog tied up in a cage in the corner: "Like that one, turned into a completely irrational beast."
His voice softened, the bearded man lowered his voice: "The last ten percent, are the ones who've completely lost their 'bottom lines'. They would eat anyone."
"Got it," Chen Yu nodded.
Each child of the dragon has its own preferences.
On this earth, any kind of "person" had uses.
The group continued forward, moving deeper into the plaza.
It immediately attracted the attention of many evil beings.
But they only looked for a few moments before dismissing the newcomers, each going about their own businesses.
"There are quite a lot of people here," Chen surveyed around.
"A day before, there were even more," the bearded man explained: "But today, over ten thousand main troops were called up to participate in the 'Eden' operation."
"How did they manage to gather such a large scale under the eyes of the Transcendents?" Chen Yu couldn't figure it out.
"Same as before. When you have the authority, you'll understand it all," the bearded man said.
Escorting the Chen family through several binge paths, they reached a residential complex built within a bomb shelter. Stopping at the entrance, the bearded man said, "Alright, I'll leave you here. You guys go in and find the property manager, give your names, it's all networked. The property admin will assign you a residence. I have something else to attend to, we'll be in touch later."
"Alright. Thank you."
"You're welcome," the bearded man smiled, "considering that you kept my sister's soul bead for me, I really value your friendship."
The group said goodbye to the man.
Chen Yu took the lead.
After exchanging glances with his family, he led them into the complex, arriving at a small bungalow bearing the sign "Property Center."
"Though it's small, it has everything," Chen marveled: "It's quite fashionable to even have a property manager."
Chen Yu did not respond.
Scanning the room and seeing no one around, he stepped forward and pushed open a small door in the corner, revealing the property administrator inside.
At that moment, the woman, covered in thick hair, was using a small knife to stab at her own arm.
Blood gushed out.
Yet she clenched her teeth, her forehead sweating as she persevered. Experience exclusive tales on My Virtual Library Empire
Knock knock knock.
After watching for a while, Chen Yu knocked on the door.
The female administrator immediately snapped back to reality and hurriedly looked towards Chen Yu: "Who?"
"New here, I heard you can apply for a residence with you."
