Chapter 128: Time of Human Crisis (Conclusion) Part 3
"Ah... right," the female administrator pulled out a dagger and placed it in a drawer. She then picked up a roll of bandage and started wrapping her wound, "Just wait a moment, I'll be with you shortly."
"No rush."
Turning back, Chen Yu gestured for the Chen family of three outside to stop, then entered the room and examined the woman's injuries, "May I ask what you were doing just now?"
Without stopping her bandaging, the female administrator glanced at Chen Yu, "A newly ascended 'Evil Being', eh? I was focusing."
"What is focusing?"
"When you deteriorate to my extent, it becomes harder and harder to suppress the bloodlust towards ordinary people," she sighed. "Only severe pain can keep me conscious."
"Doesn't the store sell human products? As an administrator, you should have access to buy them," Chen Yu said.
"... I can't do it." The bandaging paused, and the woman fell silent for a long while, "Even if they deserve to die, they shouldn't end up in the mouths of their kin."
"You're already an Evil Being and still consider humans as your kin?"
"Becoming an Evil Being was not my intention," the female administrator said with a look of indifferent tranquility in her eyes, pointing at her own hair. "No matter how I look now, I always believe I am a proper human, nurtured by my parents. Only by truly accepting that I am an 'Evil Being' can one become a real Evil Being, I suppose."
"Is that so," Chen Yu narrowed his eyes.
"Oh, you have to engage in this useless conversation with me, a chatterbox." After bandaging her wound, the female administrator operated the mouse and turned on the computer screen, "Let's get to business. You're here to apply for a residence, right? Tell me your name."
"Chen Yu."
"Chen... Yu... Hmm, that's not right. There's no such name." Experience tales at My Virtual Library Empire
Puzzled for a moment, Chen Yu then mentioned his sister's name.
"Oh! There it is, Block B, Door 301. How many of you are there?" The woman leaned forward, looking towards the door.
"Counting me, four in total."
"All relatives of Miss Chen, right?"
"Yes."
"If it's just for individuals, you can also stay in Room 302 next door," the female administrator shrugged. "You probably know by now, many people undertook a mission today from which they will never return. There are lots of vacant rooms."
"Thank you then."
"You're welcome. Just hurry up and leave," the female administrator waved her hand. "I just suppressed the urge to eat humans; don't stir it up again."
"Alright."
Chen Yu took one last deep look at her.
He picked up two sets of keys, ready to leave.
"Oh right!" Suddenly, as if she remembered something, the female administrator raised her hand to beckon, "In Block B there's an old lady whose daughter was an Evil Being and was tormented to death by a Transcendent, which drove her mad. Don't mind her. If she says anything strange, just ignore it. Don't get entangled with her."
"Got it."
As he left the hut with his family, Chen Yu felt inexplicably complicated.
"Xiaoyu, what were you guys talking about in there?" Chen asked.
"Nothing much," Chen Yu said as he walked, changing the subject, "The monkey brains I gave you earlier, did they work?"
"Not at all," Chen's face darkened abruptly: "I gritted my teeth and tried one. No effect whatsoever."
"Understood," Chen Yu nodded.
"So..." Chen pursed her lips, "Do I still have to eat human brains in the future."
Chen Yu: "..."
Chen: "Then I'd rather die."
Following behind the two, Mr. and Ms. Chen exchanged looks.
At that moment, only as parents could they understand each other's feelings.
"Yah—Chen Yu-ah—"
As the Chen family of four approached what was referred to as Block B, a hoarse voice suddenly came from above.
Chen Yu looked up abruptly.
He saw a white-haired, wrinkled old lady leaning out of a window on the third floor.
She wore a red cotton-padded jacket and a white scarf.
Her triangular eyes looked down at Chen Yu, emanating an exceptionally kind yet incredibly "strange" gaze.
"Indeed, guided by 'destiny'."
"That brought you under my daughter's arrangements, to my side..."
