My Life in Multiverse

Chapter 191: Ch 189 - Elder Brother

After the emotional reunion at the Vermillion estate, Alex felt a pull to reconnect with his past. He turned to Mereoleona, who was still basking in the warmth of her newfound memories with Fuegoleon and Elysia.

"Where can I find Yami?" He asked, his voice steady yet filled with anticipation.

Mereoleona smiled knowingly. "He's probably at the bar, drowning his sorrows or getting into trouble. He's always found solace in a drink."

She gestured towards the direction of the capital. "You'll find him there."

"Thanks, Lioness," Alex replied, a hint of nostalgia lacing his words. With a nod, he left the estate, his heart racing at the thought of seeing his old friend again.

The atmosphere of the capital was lively, but Alex made his way through the bustling streets with purpose. He reached the bar, its familiar wooden sign swinging gently in the breeze.

The chatter of patrons filled the air, a mix of laughter and the clinking of glasses. Pushing the door open, he stepped inside, scanning the dimly lit room until his eyes landed on a familiar figure slumped over the bar.

Yami Sukehiro, the former captain of the Black Bulls, sat nursing a drink.

Alex approached cautiously, feeling the weight of the years pressing upon him.

"Yami," He called out, his voice cutting through the noise.

Yami lifted his head, eyes narrowing as he glanced up.

"Do I know you?" He asked, his tone a mix of irritation and confusion.

"It's me, Asta," He replied, trying to convey the depth of their bond with just his voice.

"Asta?" Yami squinted, struggling to place the face that was so familiar yet distant. He studied him for a moment longer, and then Alex reached behind him, pulling out a black robe emblazoned with the Black Bull emblem.

"I still have this," He said, holding it up for Yami to see.

The moment the robe caught Yami's eye, a flicker of recognition sparked in his expression. Memories crashed over him like a tidal wave, and the anger of the lost years bubbled to the surface.

In an instant, he stood up, his fist flying forward to connect squarely with Alex's jaw.

"Damn it, Asta!" Yami shouted, frustration mingling with relief. "You scared the hell out of us!"

Alex staggered back slightly but quickly regained his footing, a grin spreading across his face. "It's good to see you too, Captain Yami."

Yami took a deep breath, his irritation fading as he embraced the familiarity of his old friend. "You could have at least told me in advance... And why don't you send a letter or something? We thought you were gone for good!"

"Yeah, well… things got complicated," Alex admitted, rubbing his jaw playfully. "But I'm back now. I want to make up for lost time."

Yami's stern demeanor softened as he clapped a hand on Alex's shoulder, a rare smile breaking through. "Let's catch up then. What's a drink without good company?"

They settled into a booth at the back of the bar, drinks in hand. As they clinked their glasses together, the warmth of friendship enveloped them once more.

"So, what's been happening with the Black Bulls?" Alex asked, eager to hear the tales of their old comrades.

Yami launched into stories of their escapades—how he managed to keep the team together despite the chaos that surrounded them. Laughter echoed between them, each anecdote a reminder of the bond they shared and the battles they had fought side by side.

Yami pulled him along to the Clover Castle to meet Julius. The King would be delighted to know of his return.

The duo actually secretly infiltrated the castle and landed on the balcony. Alex stepped on with a calm, commanding aura. His half-red, half-grey hair glinted under the moonlight, and his eyes reflected an unearthly wisdom.

Julius was gazing at the stars. Feeling a presence, he looked to the side and saw Yami, greeting him with a smile before he faced Alex, their gazes meeting. For a moment, the room was silent. Then, as if the spell of amnesia had cracked like fragile glass, Julius's memories came flooding back. A burst of magical energy erupted around him, his power surging in sheer joy and surprise.

"Asta!" Julius exclaimed, his voice filled with raw emotion. He stepped forward, his usual composure replaced with the joy of a long-lost reunion. "You've returned… after all these years."

Alex offered a small smile. "It's good to see you, Julius. It's been a while."

Julius's smile widened, tears of happiness welling up in his eyes. "The strongest Magic Emperor in our history… you've come back at last! The kingdom will be thrilled to know you're here, but—"

He paused, his expression becoming serious. "How is it that so many, including myself, forgot about you? What kind of spell did you cast that could affect even the most powerful mages?"

Alex chuckled lightly and explained.

"The hax that erased me from everyone's memories," Alex began, "is a unique form of magic tied to my Chaos Magic. It's a defense mechanism I created to ensure that the kingdom could grow and prosper without being burdened by my absence or power. I needed everyone to forget me so that the alliances between the four kingdoms would be based on mutual trust and respect, not on fear of my strength."

He paused, gauging the reactions of those present. Julius's eyes remained wide, but he listened intently.

"The hax works by altering the flow of memories and perception," Alex continued. "It wraps itself around a person's core recollections, hiding the memories of me deep within their subconscious. Only through significant emotional or magical triggers—like witnessing my power or feeling my presence—can the spell unravel and those memories resurface."

Julius nodded, understanding dawning on his face. "So, the spell ensured peace… but at what cost to you?"

Alex waved his hand, not caring about such small things at all.

Julius stepped forward, placing a hand on Alex's shoulder.

"You carried this burden alone for so long," He said, his voice heavy with gratitude. "But perhaps now… we can find a way forward together."

Alex's lips curved into a small smile. "Perhaps."

"Oh yeah, what about your devil? What was his name... Liebe, right?" Julius asked curiously.

Alex smiled and replied. "Actually, a few years prior when my powers grew stronger. I revive my mother and then reincarnate Liebe into a human. I wipe their memories of my existence and let them live happily, away from all the crazy mess."

"And what if they will remember everything in the future?" Julius asked curiously.

Alex shook his head. "That is not possible. When I applied the Hax on you and everyone else, I was not that proficient in using it but now..."

He didn't need to speak any further and Julius understood everything.
