Chapter 40: The Aburame Clan Is Stunned
The next day, when Kaze Inuzuka arrived at the Konoha Military Police Force headquarters with seven clan members and twenty Ninja Hounds, he was completely taken aback by the scene in front of him.
The usually intimidating and unwelcoming Konoha Military Police Force was now brightly decorated with banners and ornaments. Hanging above the main entrance was a massive red banner with golden lettering that read: "Konoha Military Police Force canine donation & establishment of the Inuzuka Clan special police dog training base."
At the entrance, Kuragami Uchiha and Fugaku Uchiha stood formally dressed beneath the banner.
Alongside them, dozens of off-duty Konoha Military Police Force members stood in perfect formation.
This overwhelming display left Kaze Inuzuka bewildered. He had originally planned to simply deliver the specially trained police dogs and a few promising young clan members while also securing a position for himself in the Konoha Military Police Force.
However, the grand ceremony being held in their honor made him suddenly feel not formal enough in his standard Konoha flak jacket. His fellow Inuzuka Clan members also started feeling as though their attire was far too casual for the occasion.
Just as they were processing the situation, Kuragami Uchiha and Fugaku Uchiha led a group forward to greet them.
"Brother Kaze, we've been eagerly waiting for you all."
Kuragami Uchiha warmly grasped Kaze Inuzuka's hand before turning to greet the other Inuzuka members and shake hands with them one by one before speaking: "Welcome, friends from the Inuzuka Clan to the Konoha Military Police Force!"
After the greetings, Kuragami turned to a subordinate. "Saito, take our new comrades to get changed."
"Understood!"
Saito Uchiha responded, then turned to the Inuzuka group. "Please follow me."
Under Saito's guidance, the eight Inuzuka Clan members and their twenty dogs entered the Konoha Military Police Force.
When they reemerged shortly after, they were clad in official Konoha Military Police Force uniforms.
Kaze Inuzuka had even donned a leader-level police vest, while the twenty Ninja Hounds were outfitted with specialized gear.
Once properly attired, Saito Uchiha led them to stand under the banner, where Kuragami Uchiha awaited.
Kuragami personally pinned police badges onto the eight new officers, then affixed custom identification tags onto the twenty police dogs.
Among them, Kaze Inuzuka's personal partner, Sumimaru, was honored with the special ID number 00001.
Standing before the gathered audience, Kuragami Uchiha proudly declared: "On behalf of the entire Konoha Military Police Force, I officially welcome the Inuzuka Clan and their loyal canine partners!"
The moment was immortalized as cameras captured a handshake between Kuragami Uchiha and Kaze Inuzuka, cementing this historic alliance.
… … …
The news of the ceremony quickly reached the Hokage's office and the major ninja clans of Konoha.
Among them, the Aburame Clan's Head was completely stunned.
Just like the Inuzuka, they, too, had received a personal invitation from Kuragami Uchiha that night.
However, unlike the Inuzuka, who swiftly decided to fully align with the Uchiha, the Aburame Clan had hesitated, unsure of how to respond.
Their fear was understandable; after all, not long ago, the Konoha Military Police Force had delivered Torune Aburame's corpse to their doorstep.
Now, Kuragami Uchiha had personally reached out to them, and the intent behind it was impossible to decipher.
Strictly speaking, the Aburame Clan was also a victim in this matter. Years ago, Danzo had forcibly taken Torune Aburame when he was a child to serve in the Root, essentially blackmailing the clan into submission. Since then, Torune had rarely interacted with them.
However, Torune had used their clan's Hidden Jutsus to carry out Danzo's dirty work, making countless enemies along the way.
Unlike Foo Yamanaka, another of Danzo's top operatives, Aburame's insect-based Jutsu was instantly recognizable.
Any clan that had suffered at Danzo's hands but dared not confront him directly would inevitably hold a grudge against the Aburame clan.
Because of this, the Aburame clan had spent years keeping a low profile in Konoha.
But now, Kuragami Uchiha, a man who had single-handedly eliminated Danzo, was rising to power at an alarming rate.
The once-feared Shimura Clan, which had rapidly expanded over the past few decades, was now on the verge of collapse. Their Clan Head had been arrested by the Uchiha Konoha Military Police Force, and his fate remained unknown.
To make matters worse, when the Konoha Military Police Force had delivered Torune's corpse, they had made sure to highlight the cause of death, a single strike from the legendary blade, Swift Thunder.
This weapon was feared throughout the Village Hidden in the Mist. It is known as the bloodless blade and pierces the heart without a single drop of blood spilling.
This meant that Torune had attempted to assassinate Kuragami Uchiha and failed.
With a clear pretext for revenge, Kuragami Uchiha now had every reason to move against the Aburame Clan.
And the worst part? There was nothing they could do about it.
Although the Aburame was considered a prestigious ninja clan with more jōnin than the Inuzuka clan, they had been powerless against Danzo; what chance did they have against the Uchiha, now stronger than ever?
All they could do was sit, anxiously waiting for Kuragami Uchiha to make his move.
… … …
After finishing the ceremony, Kuragami Uchiha remained in his office until the end of the workday and then clocked out right on time.
When he arrived home, he found Sasuke already there, sitting in the dining room and enjoying a plate of snacks prepared by his housekeeper, Keiko.
"Teacher, you're back!" Sasuke perked up at the sound of Kuragami entering.
"Yo, Sasuke. You came early today."
Kuragami replied with a chuckle.
After two days of lessons, the two had grown more familiar with each other. Sasuke was a quick learner, memorizing everything Kuragami taught him verbatim. More importantly, he was starting to grasp the deeper meaning behind these teachings.
Soon, the two settled into their lesson for the evening.
As Kuragami finished explaining the phrase do not do unto others what you do not wish for yourself, he closed the book.
This marked the end of Sasuke's introductory studies, a curriculum personally compiled by Kuragami using selections from the three-character classic, thousand-character classic, and analects of Confucius.
"Alright, Sasuke, that's all for today."
Kuragami said.
"Yes, Teacher." Sasuke nodded. Then, hesitantly, he asked: "What are we learning tomorrow?"
"Tomorrow?" Kuragami smiled.
"Starting tomorrow, you won't need to come for a while. I have some personal matters to attend to."
Sasuke froze for a moment, then lowered his head in disappointment. "Oh... Okay."
Despite only a few days together, Sasuke had come to really enjoy Kuragami's lessons, especially the fascinating stories Kuragami weave. Now that their lessons were paused, he can only reluctantly accept it.
Seeing this, Kuragami patted Sasuke's head and said with a grin: "I have an assignment for you, Sasuke."
"What is it, teacher?"
Sasuke asked, looking up.
"During this time, I want you to reflect on everything I've taught you. Then, use those lessons to observe the world around you."
Kuragami explained. "When you start realizing that these teachings alone cannot fully explain the things happening in the world, that's when you should come back to me."
"When that time comes."
He added with a knowing smile: "I'll teach you something new."

Guys, I'll be reducing the updates for each novel to one chapter a day for a week. I'm currently confined in the hospital with a positive diagnosis of amoebiasis. I might have gotten it from drinking water at a restaurant I visited yesterday. Please be careful about where you drink water; you might end up like me.
P.S. There's no danger to my life; I'll just feel weak during this time, and I'll experience abdominal pain.
