"The last place Shimura Danzo was seen was the Land of Rice," Yakushi Kabuto said, his voice calm but calculating.
"The Land of Rice... No wonder the transaction was arranged there," Orochimaru muttered, a note of realization in his voice.
The agreed location for his deal with Shimura Danzo had been in the Land of Rice, and now it all made sense. Danzo must have been conducting some other business in the area and conveniently chosen it as their meeting point.
Unfortunately, Orochimaru's influence in the Land of Rice was still in its infancy. Although he had plans to build a base there, he hadn't yet implemented them.
If his network had been established, he would have known by now who was responsible for Danzo's demise.
"It seems we can no longer rely on Shimura Danzo for transactions. I'll need to find a new trading partner."
Orochimaru's tone was regretful. Over the years, his dealings with Danzo had been mutually beneficial. Danzo's resources and reliability had saved Orochimaru a great deal of trouble.
Finding a replacement of Danzo's caliber would not be easy.
"Still, there's someone else who could provide what I need..." Orochimaru mused, a sly smile creeping across his face.
He thought of a certain individual who could grant him access to what he desired—without even requiring a trade.
"As for future transactions, it might be time to investigate that organization."
Not long ago, Orochimaru had received an invitation to join a shadowy group. Initially, he had dismissed it, but considering his current predicament, it seemed worth exploring.
"Lord Orochimaru, what organization could interest you enough to consider it?" Kabuto asked, curiosity gleaming behind his glasses.
"A group called Akatsuki," Orochimaru replied with a wistful sigh. "It may well be the most powerful organization in the ninja world today."
"The most powerful?" Kabuto's eyes widened slightly in surprise.
Without further elaboration, the two left the abandoned house and disappeared into the night.
That evening, at the residence of the Uchiha clan leader, Uchiha Fugaku was in his bedroom.
Uchiha Mikoto sat at the head of the bed in a light nightgown, her graceful figure outlined in the dim light. Her long, slender legs peeked out from beneath the fabric, smooth and toned.
Fugaku, clad in his pajamas, felt the air grow warmer.
But suddenly, his expression shifted. His sharp eyes turned toward the backyard.
"Fugaku? What's wrong?" Mikoto asked, surprised by her husband's abrupt change in demeanor.
"I'm going to the bathroom," Fugaku replied quickly, leaving the room before she could ask further questions.
He didn't head to the bathroom but instead went to the backyard. Activating his three-tomoe Sharingan, he scanned the dark expanse with a cold gaze.
A figure slowly emerged from the ground, silent as a shadow.
The intruder was dressed in khaki clothing, a large rope tied around their waist in a butterfly knot. Their pale face bore snake-like features, with vertical pupils and purple markings around the eyes.
It was Orochimaru.
The Sannin glanced up, his snake-like eyes locking onto Fugaku's glowing Sharingan.
"Ah… I see I underestimated you, Patriarch Fugaku," Orochimaru said, his tone laced with intrigue.
Despite his efforts to conceal his presence, Fugaku had detected him immediately.
Orochimaru waved his hand, forming a barrier around them.
"A soundproof barrier?" Fugaku noted aloud.
Realizing the barrier was meant only to block sound and not movement, Fugaku made no immediate move to break it.
"Orochimaru," he said coldly, "you're bold to sneak into Konoha as a traitor—and into the Uchiha clan, no less."
"If I decide to leave, no one can stop me," Orochimaru replied confidently, his smirk unfaltering.
Fugaku didn't react to the boast, though a flicker of curiosity crossed his features.
"What is your purpose here?" he asked, his tone sharp.
"I've come to propose a deal," Orochimaru said, glancing around the yard.
"A deal?" Fugaku's expression grew more incredulous.
Since he'd already been caught, Orochimaru decided to change tactics. Instead of stealing what he wanted, he would offer a trade.
"You heard me," Orochimaru said with a grin, his tongue darting out briefly.
"And why should I entertain the idea of dealing with a traitor?" Fugaku asked, his skepticism evident.
"Because I have something you need," Orochimaru said, his voice smooth and persuasive.
"Something I need?" Fugaku's eyes narrowed slightly, intrigued despite himself.
"You're familiar with the Wood Release Kekkei Genkai, I assume?" Orochimaru asked, his tone now more serious.
Fugaku's eyes narrowed further.
"What are you implying?" he asked cautiously.
Was Orochimaru aware of his past disguises as a Wood Release user? If so, this was dangerous territory.
But Orochimaru's next words dispelled his concerns.
"The secret to Wood Release lies in the cells of Hashirama Senju," Orochimaru explained. "According to my research, the Uchiha clan is uniquely suited to integrate Hashirama's cells."
Fugaku raised an eyebrow.
"Go on," he said, feigning ignorance.
"The Sharingan can balance Hashirama's cells, allowing for a stable integration," Orochimaru continued, his voice almost hypnotic. "With my expertise and access to Hashirama's cells, I can grant you the power of Wood Release."
Fugaku's mind worked quickly. While he already had substantial power, the offer intrigued him.
"What's your price?" he asked after a pause.
Uchiha Fugaku narrowed his eyes slightly and really became interested in Orochimaru's deal.
He knew that Orochimaru had deliberately concealed the fact that even if he had transplanted Hashirama's cells, it would be difficult for him to perform powerful Wood Release Ninjutsu like Hashirama Senju.
However, even so, Hashirama cells and Hashirama cell transplantation technology are of extremely high value. After all, Hashirama cells have the effect of preventing the Mangekyō Sharingan from causing blindness.
Although he no longer needs this technique, the Uchiha clan will need it when they awaken the Mangekyō in the future.
Moreover, if Sasuke wants to evolve the Rinnegan, in addition to the two conditions of the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan and the infusion of the power of the Six Paths Sage, he also needs the implantation of Hashirama's cells.
