Chapter 143: Chapter 143: Declaring War on the Entire Ninja World
"Lord Hokage, you've finally arrived!"
The man sitting in the chair, Fujiki, leapt to his feet the moment Senju Tobirama entered. He approached with exaggerated enthusiasm, as though greeting an ancestor.
If not for the others present, he might have already begun groveling.
"Who's the Daimyō here, you or him?"
The faces of the three Daimyōs shifted in unison, each wearing a look of astonishment.
From Fujiki's words and Tobirama's attire, they could already identify him as the Hokage.
What shocked them, however, was the Daimyō of the Land of Fire's demeanor. His attitude toward the Hokage stood in stark contrast to how he treated them—deferential and servile.
But Fujiki couldn't care less about their reactions. Leaning in close, he whispered to Tobirama, recounting everything that had just transpired.
When Tobirama heard their proposal to split Konoha into three factions, his expression darkened. His sharp gaze swept toward the trio, and the weight of his presence made them swallow nervously.
Despite this, the three Daimyōs didn't yield. Their lofty status and long-standing arrogance assured them that the Hokage wouldn't dare act against them.
Standing straight, they adopted an even haughtier posture.
"That's the gist of it," Fujiki concluded before retreating behind Uchiha Madara, eager to enjoy the show.
"Ha! Insects will always be insects—pathetic, even in their demands!"
Madara cast a disdainful glance at the Daimyōs, his contempt stinging them visibly.
"Who do you think you are to speak so rudely?!"
The Daimyō of the Land of Lightning, unable to contain his anger, shouted.
It was one thing for the Daimyō of the Land of Fire to act like this, after all, they were equals in status. But for a mere subordinate of the Hokage to display such insolence? Unforgivable!
"Me?" Madara chuckled lightly. "I'm just an ordinary Konoha shinobi."
Strictly speaking, Madara wasn't even a Konoha shinobi anymore—few in the village knew his true status.
"Good! Very good!"
The Daimyō of the Land of Lightning was livid, his nostrils flaring in rage.
He had assumed that anyone accompanying the Hokage would be an elder or advisor at least. Yet this man claimed to be just an ordinary shinobi?
"And yet, a Konoha shinobi dares act so brazenly before us Daimyōs?!"
"Lord Hokage! Is this the kind of respect your shinobi show? Are they all this unruly and arrogant?"
The Daimyō directed his fury at Tobirama, demanding he discipline his subordinate.
The Daimyōs of the Land of Wind and the Land of Earth remained silent, but their pointed stares at Tobirama made their shared intent clear—they were trying to put him in his place.
The Land of Fire's Daimyō, this spineless coward, had allowed himself to be overrun by a bunch of brutish shinobi. He was a disgrace!
Shinobi were lowly creatures who needed to be reminded of their place.
Behind them, Fujiki shook his head in disbelief. Did these fools really think his ancestor was as easy to deal with as the other Kage?
"Heh…"
Tobirama chuckled softly, stepping forward until he was a mere meter away from the three.
Standing at 182 centimeters, his imposing frame towered over the three aging Daimyōs. The cold, crimson glow in his eyes sent shivers down their spines, forcing them to instinctively step back.
Realizing they had lost face, the Daimyōs bristled with indignation. To be intimidated by the Hokage—it was humiliating.
"What do you think you're doing, Hokage?! Don't do anything reckless! Fujiki may fear you, but we do not!"
The Daimyō of the Land of Earth's voice wavered, betraying his fear despite his bold words.
"What is respect? What is superiority?" Tobirama asked coldly.
"All I know is that you've made me… very unhappy."
Before the words fully settled, three heads flew into the air.
The three Daimyōs never expected that Tobirama would actually dare to act against them.
Their severed heads hit the ground, faces frozen in their arrogant expressions. Blood spurted from their necks like fountains, staining the already crimson carpet a deeper shade of red.
No matter their schemes or noble status, they were now nothing more than corpses.
Tobirama raised his hand, and with a small gesture, the three bodies froze into solid ice.
Initially, he hadn't intended to kill them. His plan was to use genjutsu to manipulate them into surrendering, have them abolish the Daimyō system, and then step down.
But these so-called nobles had no chakra whatsoever.
Genjutsu relied on disrupting an individual's chakra flow, rendering them immune to its effects. These ordinary humans had inadvertently forced Tobirama's hand.
"The Hokage killed the Daimyōs—three of them at once!"
Katō Taku, standing at the rear, was utterly dumbfounded.
Glancing at the Land of Fire's Daimyō and another Konoha shinobi, he noticed their indifferent expressions. It was as if nothing of importance had happened, which only deepened his shock.
Tobirama cleared his throat, signaling to Katō Taku.
Quick on the uptake, Katō Taku immediately set to work, collecting the three frozen bodies and their heads. He grabbed a stunned Saitō Shigemoto on his way out, not forgetting to close the hall doors behind him.
"No one speaks of this. Understood?" He patted Saitō's shoulder, giving him a pointed look.
"Understood, understood!" Saitō nodded vigorously, his face pale.
…
"Second Lord, you're…"
Fujiki raised his hand, trying to articulate something, but words failed him.
After all, he was used to being praised—giving praise was an entirely different matter.
"Tobirama, did you summon me here just to watch this spectacle? Truly, you've outdone yourself."
Madara sighed, exasperated by what he considered a waste of his time.
"Don't trivialize this, Madara. Eliminating the Daimyōs is the first step toward unifying the ninja world. In a way, you've witnessed history," Tobirama replied coolly.
"I hope that doesn't include eliminating me…" Fujiki gulped, his eyes darting nervously.
"Once the ninja world is unified, you'll return to the Senju Clan and become its leader," Tobirama said, his tone firm.
"You're a direct descendant of my brother, a true Senju. You're more than qualified to lead."
"For now, as the Daimyō of the Land of Fire, declare war on any nation that wishes to preserve the Daimyō system. They are our enemies!"
"Also, notify Sunagakure and Kirigakure. They are to coordinate with Konoha in battle!"
Tobirama's eyes gleamed with determination as he made his decision.
"Yes!" Fujiki nodded resolutely.
"At last, we've reached this point." Madara rubbed his nose, feeling his trip hadn't been in vain.
With a flash of the Flying Thunder God Technique, both men disappeared, returning to Konoha in an instant.
…
The ninja world had only begun to tremble.
As the new year of the 61st year of Konoha arrived, it brought with it the Land of Fire's declaration of war against the entire ninja world.
