Chapter 110: 110. Uchiha Prepares To Enter
Hearing this, Kakashi immediately heightened his vigilance. He knew the masked man hadn't been fighting at full strength earlier—Obito had barely utilized Wood Style during their clash.
Before Kakashi could act, he felt his Chakra rapidly depleting. White spores emerged from his body, gradually forming a grotesque human face.
"What are these?!"
Kakashi was horrified. He instinctively tried to rid himself of the spores, but his strength faded along with his Chakra. Moments later, he collapsed to the ground, completely drained.
"Don't worry, I won't kill you. I just want to take something," Obito said coldly. "Have a good sleep, Kakashi…"
Obito's Sharingan morphed into Mangekyō as he cast a genjutsu to render Kakashi unconscious.
"Come back to me… my eye!"
Obito reached out and plucked Kakashi's Sharingan from its socket. Removing his mask, he inserted the eye into his own socket.
Blood trickled from the corner of Obito's eye, but the Hashirama cells in his body quickly repaired the damage. His optic nerves reconnected, and his vision became clear once more.
The newfound eye power surged within him, far exceeding that of the Sharingan he had used before. However, something felt amiss—there was no resonance between the two eyes.
"Isn't it said that both Sharingans are required to unleash their full potential? Why is there no harmony between them? Is it because one is Mangekyō and the other is still a standard Sharingan?"
Obito frowned. He scornfully glanced at Kakashi, now unconscious on the ground. How could someone so incapable even possess such a valuable eye? How had he ever struggled against this man before?
As Obito gazed at Kakashi's face, he noticed a flicker of resistance. Despite the genjutsu, Kakashi's expression betrayed fear and defiance.
"You're still resisting? It seems Sharingan's resistance to illusions has grown considerably," Obito said, mildly impressed. He realized Kakashi must have pieced together his identity—that alone explained his horrified look.
But it no longer mattered. Twice, Obito had borrowed Uchiha Madara's name. Twice, he had been dismissed by Uchiha Yagami. Konoha would never believe he was Madara now. Hiding his true identity seemed meaningless.
With that thought, Obito cast another genjutsu, ensuring Kakashi would completely lose consciousness.
In front of the Monument of Heroes, the distorted space of Kamui opened, and Obito emerged, throwing Kakashi unceremoniously onto the ground. Without hesitation, he left Konoha with Black Zetsu.
Within Kamui's space, Obito marvelled at the surge of power coursing through his restored eyes. His thoughts turned to unlocking new ocular techniques and unleashing Susanoo—the so-called "power of a god."
"Hahaha… Now, to evolve this eye into Mangekyō. I wonder what kind of pupil technique will awaken and what form my Susanoo will take!"
Obito's arrogant laughter echoed through the dimension, leaving Black Zetsu speechless.
You're so ecstatic now, but where was this enthusiasm when you could've reclaimed your eye earlier?
Obito dismissed Black Zetsu's silent judgment. To him, reclaiming his eye felt like a triumphant homecoming. While Kakashi's use of the Sharingan had failed to evolve it into Mangekyō, Obito was certain it would do so in his hands. The synergy with his other Mangekyō guaranteed it.
Eagerly, he focused on connecting the two eyes, ensuring his body adapted fully to the restored Sharingan. As the process was completed, another wave of exhilaration overtook him.
"Hahaha…!"
Black Zetsu could only watch in exasperation.
This is utterly insane! You've barely stopped laughing, and now it starts again! And when this eye evolves into Mangekyō, will we have to endure another round of this…?
Harbor Pier, the city that never sleeps, was Uchiha's bold new endeavour.
After securing the dock as a foothold, the Uchiha clan established a new territory, carefully planned and meticulously designed with the clan's future in mind. The daimyo had designated a vast territory, so instead of creating a conventional clan settlement, they opted to construct a full-fledged city—Uchiha Evernight City—under the banner of the Uchiha Group.
Leveraging the Uchiha clan's strength, the economic power of the Uchiha Group, and the strategic benefits of a seaport terminal, the city was poised for unprecedented growth. Yagami had outlined plans to develop an entertainment hub supported by scientific innovations. These industries would range from customs and casinos to experimental ventures like arcade games, amusement parks, and camping accommodations.
Using Orochimaru's scientific prowess, ideas like movies inspired by Yagami's memories of his previous life, Werewolf games, and ninja-themed arcades were also under consideration. Furthermore, the Uchiha clan's esteemed ninja heritage was envisioned as the foundation for a crash course in ninja training for children.
This unique offering would attract families from across the ninja world. Unlike the generalized teaching at Konoha's academy, this one-on-one instruction model would appeal to civilians lacking ninjutsu inheritance. Even if their children didn't become skilled in ninjutsu, the Uchiha's elite training would provide a strong foundation for their future as shinobi.
To achieve these ambitious goals, the construction of Evernight City followed a rigorous plan. The outer city was designed like a battle fortress, leaving spaces specifically reserved for future weapon installations. Orochimaru, working from the shadows, was busy refining internal combustion engines and developing Chakra-powered weaponry.
The completed city walls were imbued with sealing techniques, drawing on the Uchiha clan's long-standing, though lesser-known, expertise in the art. This knowledge, combined with their innovative spirit, was being utilized to transform the city into a beacon of progress.
When Yagami arrived at the site, Fugaku, the clan patriarch and CEO of the Uchiha Group, personally oversaw the arrangement of the seals alongside the clan members.
"Hey! The Cloud Shinobi and Rock Shinobi are fighting! This is… unexpected!"
Fugaku's expression shifted upon hearing the news of the outbreak of war. Although surprised, he quickly recognized that Uchiha's separation from Konoha meant less immediate concern.
"It's certainly surprising," Yagami replied with a nod. "But for us, this is an opportunity. Konoha wants to distance itself from the conflict and avoid being dragged into the chaos. For that reason, they're preparing to ally with Sand Shinobi to maintain their neutrality.
"But Uchiha doesn't need to remain idle. The preparations we made before can now be put to use."
Yagami's words carried weight. The Uchiha clan had been discreetly stockpiling strategic resources under the guise of their many enterprises. While Konoha relied on centralized orders to amass supplies, Uchiha's method of collecting bit by bit through their industries had quietly built up a significant reserve.
"Is that so? Are you planning to support one of the villages?" Fugaku asked, his tone curious yet measured.
As both patriarch and CEO, Fugaku understood Yagami's strategy. The harsh reality of the ninja world made profiting from war an acceptable tactic. The funds generated would be crucial for Uchiha's development.
The Uchiha Group, now the first multinational corporation in the ninja world, operated independently of Konoha's authority.
"Our business is our own. Konoha's opinion doesn't concern us," Fugaku declared firmly.
"Cloud Shinobi," Yagami said slowly, his eyes fixed on the map.
The name carried weight, signaling Uchiha's next calculated move.
