Chapter 128: Chapter 128: Karin's Hostility
As twilight descended and the sun set, Kiyoshi had just said goodbye to two girls and was on his way back home.
Just as he passed a corner of a narrow alleyway, he suddenly sensed something, and his expression changed. Without hesitation, he sidestepped.
Whoosh...
A dark figure charged at him like lightning but missed him by a fraction. Swiftly, she twisted her body, her agile form sticking directly to the wall.
"Hidden Shadow Snake Hands!"
Two thick, snake-like arms suddenly shot out, coiling towards Kiyoshi with lightning speed.
"Hey, hey, Anko-nee." Kiyoshi dodged the striking snakes with quick reflexes, his eyelids twitching. "Are you trying to scare me to death?"
He looked at her in exasperation.
"Hehehe…."
An enchanting figure appeared, without any reservation, she threw her arms around Kiyoshi tightly.
Her beautiful face pressed against his, and she grinned, "Kiyoshi, my little brother, you've gotten even more handsome after two years."
"I missed you."
Seeing the same vibrant Anko as always, Kiyoshi's mouth twitched, a little helpless. "It's been a while, Anko-nee…Could you may be let go of me now?"
"No way. What if you run off?"
Anko held on tightly.
"I finally got my chance while Kurenai isn't around." She licked her lips, whispering mischievously into Kiyoshi's ear.
"Come stay over at my place tonight?"
Her voice was filled with temptation. Her sly snake's tongue even brushed daringly against his ear.
A shiver ran through him.
Kiyoshi grabbed Anko, pinning her against the wall. He growled fiercely, "You're playing a dangerous game, thinking I'd let that slide."
"Oh my, it seems like my little Kiyoshi has really grown up." Anko pressed her face close to his, her eyes blazing with a sultry heat.
Bold as ever, she grabbed his hand without a second thought, guiding him with surprising assurance. "I've saved my first time…just for you my little brother."
She leaned in closer, nibbling at his ear as she whispered, "You can do whatever you want."
"Maybe next time."
Kiyoshi almost lost his composure, but quickly held the mischievous woman's hand, forcing himself to cool down.
After all, the Heavens' Curse Mark that Orochimaru had left on her neck was still there.
If anything were to happen, he'd have to deal with that troublesome mark first.
"Have you had dinner yet?" He asked Anko, who was still clinging to him.
"Oh? Kiyoshi, are you offering to treat me?"
Though a bit disappointed she couldn't fully tempt him, Anko's eyes lit up when she heard his question, looking at him with hopeful anticipation.
"If you don't mind, feel free to join me."
Kiyoshi shrugged. He'd never say no to a meal with company, especially with someone as lively as Anko.
Besides, Anko was beautiful and had a stunning figure, which was…. well, rather nice.
Kiyoshi knew Anko's background well.
Once Orochimaru's disciple, even though she'd been thoroughly examined by the Intelligence Division after Orochimaru defected, some Konoha ninjas still kept their distance from her, wary of her ties with him.
As a result, Anko, who had once been outgoing and cheerful, had gradually grown bolder in her behavior over the years as a subconscious way to protect herself.
In reality, she was quite sensitive inside and mistakenly thought Orochimaru had abandoned her, not realizing it was her own decision to stay behind when he left her in the Land of Sea's lab, where Konoha later found and brought her back.
"That's great."
Anko's face beamed with joy as she hooked her arm around Kiyoshi's, her eyes squinting into happy crescents.
---
At the Ishikawa residence, Keiko and her daughter Karin had already prepared a lavish dinner, waiting for Kiyoshi to return. One extra guest, Anko, didn't seem to be an issue.
However, the moment Karin opened the door and saw Anko practically glued to Kiyoshi, an unexpected wave of jealousy surged in her heart.
She felt a strange hostility toward this "shameless" woman.
Unlike others, Anko didn't bother with formalities at all.
Seated at the dinner table, with mouthwatering dishes laid out before her, she dug in without a hint of restraint, vastly different from girls like Ino and Tenten.
Karin's irritation only grew as she watched Anko wolf down the meal she and her mother had prepared for Kiyoshi as if she intended to eat it all herself.
Gritting her teeth in frustration, she started competing with her.
The table was covered with dishes, but the two of them devoured the spread in a whirlwind until nothing was left.
"..."
Kiyoshi and Keiko exchanged a look, both somewhat speechless.
If Keiko hadn't lived with Tsunade and Kiyoshi for a while, she might have seriously wondered whether Karin had been eating properly outside.
"Hic…. So full…." Anko rubbed her slightly bloated stomach, burping contentedly, "Thanks for the meal, Keiko-san. Your cooking is amazing."
"Oh, no, no. I'm glad you liked it." Keiko smiled warmly.
As a newcomer in the village herself, she didn't have many friends apart from her colleagues at the hospital, so she quite enjoyed the company of someone as easygoing and friendly as Anko.
She got up to clear the table.
"Hmph..."
Karin turned her head away in a huff, her cheeks puffed with annoyance.
"Well, well, little one…."
Anko, ever the sharp one, easily noticed Karin's animosity. Seeing that Keiko had gone to the kitchen, she suddenly leaned forward, tilting Karin's chin up slightly.
Towering over her, she met Karin's wary, defensive gaze with a playful smile. "You…. really like Kiyoshi, don't you?"
"N-no, I don't." Karin jumped, her face turning crimson as her heart pounded wildly. She couldn't bring herself to look at Kiyoshi, who was just beside them.
"Really?" Anko's gaze sparkled with mischief as she prodded.
"All right, enough with the teasing."
Seeing Karin's face about to ignite from embarrassment, Kiyoshi intervened with a sigh and directed Anko, "Anko-nee, time for you to head home."
He knew if he didn't directly ask her to leave, Anko with her constant attempts to get him would almost certainly sneak into his room in the middle of the night.
"Aww, already protecting your little girlfriend, are you?"
Anko put on her most dramatic look, feigning heartbreak. "Just a minute ago, you were calling me your sweet Anko, but now you're so heartless."
Karin "...."
Kiyoshi "...."
