Chapter 144: Omniscience in Marvel 140

Title - Ego 2

Ego, the Living Planet, stood in the midst of the pocket dimension, his colossal form trembling from the force of the discharge as his body healed from the damage it took.

This process was slower than normal, something Ego observed and tried to use his Matter Manipulation only to be met with no reaction whatsoever. It had been nullified.

'This Fake reality…it's nullifying my core abilities.' Ego thought as he tried to tap into his other Abilities.

Biological manipulation was already down considering the slowed state his body healed at. Psionics was out of the picture considering his previous predicament with Leucadius' fear illusion.

The only recourse left was his mastery over Energy Manipulation and his formidable physical presence.

Meanwhile, Leucadius' gaze flickered with the intense focus of a strategist as he monitored Ego's every move.

The energy expended in maintaining the pocket dimension was substantial, so Leucadius could only rely on Time and Space magic in hopes of conserving energy.

If the going gets tough, he only has to just teleport Ego back to his main body and go at him in his home ground. A bit risky but with a greater percentile of victory.

As Leucadius was lost in thought, Ego's eyes blazed as a focused energy exploded from his gaze, forming a concentrated beam that sliced through the air with blinding speed.

The beam bore down on Leucadius with the intent to overwhelm him, but Leucadius's eyes merely narrowed as he activated his Intangibility, momentarily shifting out of phase with reality.

The beam passed through the space where he had been, striking nothing but empty air as Leucadius reappeared a few meters to the side, his form now wreathed in a faint golden aura similar in color to Ego's, but different in substance.

"You think your tricks can save you from the might of a Celestial?!" Ego roared, his voice carrying a vibration that shook the dimension which held still regardless.

"Your underestimation of me would be your undoing," Leucadius replied coolly, his voice calm despite the current situation.

Deciding to initiate an assault, Leucadius went with a powerful and straightforward technique. He raised his right hand, summoning a vortex of energy above him.

The air around him crackled as dark clouds gathered and spread through the sky spanning close to a mile.

In a slow and deliberate motion, Leucadius brought down his hand towards Ego as he muttered, "[Lightning Storm.]

A barrage of lightning bolts shot out of the thunderclouds and arced toward Ego with relentless precision and speed,

The bolts of lightning crashed into Ego's form, each bolt delivering a jolt of electrifying energy that danced across his surface. The sight was so blinding that even Leucadius couldn't see through it to gauge the level of damage he'd caused.

But just as he was about to lift his hand to cancel the technique, "You're going to have to do better than that!" Ego roared, his voice reverberating through the sound of thunder generated by the lightning bolts.

Seeing as his technique was ineffective, Leucadius canceled it only to see a golden shield around the Celestial without so much as a crack on it.

The shield expanded around him, its surface flickering with radiant light as it absorbed the lightning bolts and deflected their impact into the ground around him.

The [Energy Shield] absorbed the force of each lightning bolt, but the pressure from the sustained attack forced Ego to brace himself. The shield glowed brightly, indicating its struggle to maintain its integrity under the relentless bombardment.

Leucadius, sensing that Ego's defenses were faltering under the relentless pressure, decided to switch tactics and draw upon elemental magic to overwhelm the Celestial.

Leucadius raised his hands and made a few hand signs as magic symbols appeared and formed magic circles all around him before giving rise to a swirling vortex of wind and fire which erupted around him.

"Why don't you have a taste of this and tell me how it fares to your shield." Leucadius said and pushed out his right hand towards Ego, channeling and directing the [Inferno Tempest] towards the celestial.

The tempest was a devastating combination of fire and wind Magic, where blazing flames were carried by a powerful gust, forming a raging whirlwind of heat and destruction wherever it passed.

The [Inferno Tempest] roared as it hurtled toward Ego, the flames within it burning with an intensity that threatened to incinerate anything in its path.

Ego braced himself, reinforcing his energy shield further to withstand the onslaught.

The [Inferno Tempest] crashed against the shield, causing it to waver. The flames licked at the edges of the shield, while the wind threatened to tear it apart, forcing Ego to divert more energy into maintaining his barrier.

"You think you can break through this? I'll show you!" Ego's voice was strained but defiant as he channeled less energy into his shield to withstand the intensified assault and more energy into his counter.

Deciding to retaliate with his own offensive techniques, he focused his energy, gathering it into a concentrated sphere before unleashing a powerful attack.

[Solar Flare]

Ego released a blinding [Solar Flare], a burst of intense light and heat that tore through the Inferno and surged toward Leucadius. The flare illuminated the space with a searing light, its heat radiating outward and distorting the air around it.

Leucadius, not anticipating the attack, still responded swiftly with his own defensive measure by creating a Temporal Shield.

The [Temporal Shield], a technique that created a barrier around him by distorting time. He'd already seen the effect the Solar Flare has on the space of the Dimension and knew that using a Spatial Barrier would be counterproductive.

The shield shimmered with an ethereal glow, a translucent barrier that seemed to slow the flow of time around it. The [Solar Flare] that was once a raging inferno, began to lose its intensity as it approached the shield.

Its brightness dimmed, and its heat waned as the [Temporal Shield] sapped the energy from the attack, reducing it to a mere flicker of its former self.

As the remnants of the flare dissipated against the shield, Leucadius couldn't help but smirk at the futility of Ego's attack.

"Is that the best you can do, Ego?" Leucadius taunted, his voice laced with a condescending tone. "Your Solar Flare, impressive as it may be in a normal battle, is utterly powerless against my Temporal Shield. You see, by manipulating the flow of time, I can slow down the heat and energy of your attack to the point where it's nothing but a harmless ember."

Ego's eyes narrowed, but Leucadius continued, his confidence evident in every word. "Heat, energy, these are merely forms of chaotic motion. But when time itself is distorted, the energy dissipates, and what was once a raging inferno becomes a cold, lifeless spark. Your flare can't breach this shield because I've slowed its temperature rise to a standstill. In essence, your attack has already grown old and feeble before it even reaches me."

He raised a hand, and with a casual gesture, absorbed the residual energy of the [Solar Flare] into his shield, letting it fuel his own power. "Now it's just free energy for me to absorb, nothing more. You're fighting a losing battle, Ego. I suggest you start thinking creatively, or this will be over far sooner than you'd like."

Leucadius's words hung in the air, a clear challenge to the Celestial, daring him to try again.

"We'll see about that!" Ego spat angrily as he began gathering more energy for his next move and Leucadius could tell he wasn't going to use a magical attack.

Ego had decided to leverage his physical prowess in addition to his energy manipulation and proceed with a powerful close-range attack.

Ego summoned a massive wave of molten lava that surged toward Leucadius with destructive force, melting the very ground it passed while creating fractures in space.

The lava crashed through the space with immense heat and pressure, threatening to engulf everything in its path, but Leucadius, seeing the approaching tidal wave, quickly constructed a [Spatial Barrier].

This barrier created a protective wall of energy around him, capable of withstanding the molten lava. "You thought I'd siphon off the heat on this one too? Come now…you don't really think I am that foolish…do you?"

To Leucadius' words, Ego merely snorted. He had truthfully hoped that Leucadius would reuse the Temporal Shield to siphon away the heat in the lava, turning it into hardened rock that would likely bury him.

Unfortunately for him, Time and Space were Leucadius bitch.

The Barrier flickered and glowed intensely as it absorbed the force of the lava wave, the heat dissipating as it was redirected away from Leucadius through the Spatial Barrier.

"You're relentless, but every attack has its limit," Leucadius said, his voice carrying over the noise of the battle.

"And I'm far from finished!" Ego roared, his form radiating with determination as he readied himself for another offensive.

Seeing the intensity of the battle, Ego focused on absorbing energy from the surroundings to replenish his strength. His body glowed with a vibrant aura as he drew power from the environment, preparing for a renewed offensive.

Leucadius, observing Ego's actions, knew that the critical moment was approaching.

The energy required to maintain the dimension and his defenses had been substantial, but he remained confident in his strategy. The key to victory was exploiting Ego's vulnerabilities and maintaining control over the battle's tempo.

As the battle reached its climax, Leucadius's mastery of Time and Space Magic allowed him to maintain an edge over Ego.

He continued to use techniques like Temporal Shield and Spatial Barrier to defend against Ego's powerful attacks while preparing for his final assault.

Ego, despite his energy manipulation, struggled to break through Leucadius's defenses. His attacks, while powerful, were met with resilient countermeasures that demonstrated Leucadius's superior control and strategy.

And with every failed attack initiated by him, Leucadius countered. And with his counter came a thrashing that Ego, for the life of him, had never experienced.

"The time has come to end this," Leucadius declared, his eyes locked on Ego as he prepared for the decisive strike.

"I'm not finished yet!" Ego shouted, summoning all of his remaining energy for one final, desperate attack.

At this point, Ego gave up entirely on conserving his energy and gathered everything he could muster from every cell in his body, however, contrary to Leucadius expectation, Ego didn't launch any form of attack towards himself, but towards the sky.

This action caused Leucadius to frown slightly and look at the already healing crack in the sky. "What a foolis-" Leucadius began, but came to a halt as his eyes widened in shock as he gazed into the sky once more.

Despite his gaze being set on the sky of the dimension, his sights went far beyond it into the Void outside of Earth itself.

Ego's True Body. The Living Planet had just been summoned from its hiding place in the Void.

"You've got to be kidding me."
