Chapter 1: Chapter 1 : Luffy, Laugh Tale Has Arrived
Above the vast blue sea, a flock of seagulls soared freely.
A small boat slowly approached the shore of a deserted island.
On the boat, a young man with a blade of grass in his mouth let out a lazy yawn.
He looked about seventeen or eighteen years old, with messy black hair that added to his handsome appearance.
Although his black clothes were loose, the faint outline of his well-defined muscles could still be seen beneath them.
A jet-black katana hung at his waist. Even though it remained sheathed, its sharp aura was undeniable.
Behind him, a massive black sword, as large as a door, floated in the air. If one looked closely, faint sparks of lightning could be seen flickering between the sword and the boy's back.
He glanced at the straw-hat-wearing boy sleeping soundly beside him and suddenly smirked mischievously.
"Luffy, we've arrived at Laugh Tale!"
His voice was so loud that it sent ripples across the sea, startling the seagulls into scattering in all directions.
The sleeping boy in the straw hat instantly snapped awake, jumping to his feet.
This was the future Pirate King, Monkey D. Luffy!
Luffy rubbed his ears with a pained expression. "Ugh, Mr. Carl, why'd you wake me up? Is it time to eat? I was just dreaming about meat..."
The black-clothed boy, Carl, grinned and said, "Oh, I just wanted to tell you that we've arrived at Laugh Tale."
"Eh? Eh?!!!"
Luffy's eyes widened in shock as he stared at the deserted island in disbelief. "Mr. Carl, you're saying this island is Laugh Tale?! No way! We just left Windmill Village yesterday! I haven't even found a crew yet or started my adventure!"
Carl patted Luffy's shoulder and said earnestly, "Luffy, just accept it. You've already reached Laugh Tale. You're the Pirate King now, so let's go back and celebrate at Makino's bar!"
But Carl's trick didn't work.
Luffy quickly shook his head and said firmly, "No, Teacher Carl, you're lying. This isn't Laugh Tale.
And even if it was, I wouldn't set foot on it yet.
I'll start from East Blue, gather my crew, and go on all kinds of exciting adventures. Only then will I reach the Laugh Tale that I truly want to see!"
Carl was momentarily stunned, but then a genuine smile appeared on his face.
Sure enough, Luffy was still Luffy—he hadn't changed at all over the years.
Carl reminisced about the past, thinking about how he had spent the last ten years in this world. He couldn't help but feel emotional, realizing just how much he had changed.
Seventeen years ago, he was born into this world as a baby.
It didn't take long for him to realize that he had been reborn into the world of One Piece, an anime he had watched in his previous life.
At first, the realization was exciting. But as he grew older, that excitement was replaced by caution. In order to survive in this dangerous world, he had to be careful—then find a way to become stronger.
Over the past ten years, he had trained relentlessly, eaten a Devil Fruit, and even gone to great lengths to obtain the training methods for the Marine Six Styles and Haki.
However, he always remained low-key, staying hidden and silently growing stronger.
When he was fourteen, both his parents passed away due to illness. Suddenly, life in a small house felt meaningless, so he set out to sea, wandering aimlessly. By a strange twist of fate, he eventually arrived at Foosha Village.
At that time, Ace had already left to become a pirate, leaving only Luffy behind, training by himself.
Knowing that Luffy was the protagonist of this world, Carl decided to teach him a lesson. But instead of backing off, Luffy became obsessed—insisting Carl should be his teacher and train him to become stronger.
As everyone knows, once Luffy sets his sights on something, there's no escaping.
And so, Carl ended up becoming Luffy's teacher. He passed down breathing techniques and body training methods from his previous family. On top of that, he crammed Marine Six Styles and Haki into Luffy's training as well.
After three years of brutal training, Luffy had already far surpassed the level he had in the original story when he first set out to sea.
His journey to becoming the Pirate King would be much smoother now!
"Mr. Carl, are you okay?" Luffy asked, noticing Carl lost in thought.
"Oh, it's nothing. I was just thinking about what to eat for dinner," Carl replied casually, snapping back to reality.
Hearing this, Luffy was instantly distracted. He shouted, "Meat!" with excitement, drool pouring from the corner of his mouth like a waterfall. Carl couldn't help but look at him in disgust.
This guy... is really my apprentice?
How embarrassing!
Carl suddenly raised his voice. "Luffy! I have a task for you. Go to that deserted island and catch the fiercest beast you can find! If you can't, then be prepared to live as a vegetarian!"
Hearing this, Luffy panicked. He jumped off the boat and dashed into the depths of the deserted island.
As he ran, he shouted, "Don't worry, Teacher Carl! I'll definitely catch the strongest beast here! We're eating meat tonight, no matter what! Even Grandpa couldn't stop me!"
Carl burst into laughter.
Luffy really learns fast... even picking up jokes like this.
After securing the boat, Carl reached into his pocket and pulled out a palm-sized radar. He pressed a few buttons on top with his thumb, and a small light flickered on the screen.
"This way?"
Following the radar's direction, Carl walked forward. The massive black sword behind him still floated in the air, following him as if it had a will of its own.
Before long, he spotted a strange fruit covered in swirling patterns growing on a tree.
It was a Devil Fruit!
As for why he could find one so easily—it was thanks to the radar in his hand. After eating his own Devil Fruit, Carl had experimented with the leftover pulp, eventually creating a Devil Fruit Radar, modeled after the Dragon Radar from Dragon Ball.
As for how he managed to invent it… don't ask too many questions. Past-life knowledge was a wonderful thing.
Carl plucked the Devil Fruit and pulled out a Devil Fruit Encyclopedia from his coat to compare it. The book had cost him a fortune, only for him to realize later that it was a bootleg version. Fortunately, it was still useful.
"Huh? The Slippery-Slippery Fruit? Isn't this the one Alvida ate after Luffy punched her?"
"That means, in the original story, fat Alvida got sent flying near this island by Luffy, then ate this fruit? Am I messing up the timeline by taking it?"
After a brief pause, Carl shrugged.
"Eh, whatever. Luffy's different now, so the original plot doesn't matter anymore."
With that thought, he stored the Slippery-Slippery Fruit away for later.
He returned to the boat and closed his eyes, resting for a moment. But within minutes, the ground trembled beneath him.
Luffy's excited voice rang out, followed by heavy footsteps. Moments later, he appeared, growling with effort as he dragged two massive, mountain-sized beasts to the boat.
"Hahaha! Teacher Carl! I caught the king of this island!"
